So, I personally hate that everyone wants to appeal to the young ones.
I don't have a problem with them trying to target a younger crowd who will someday grow into loyal mature customers. The problem is which sector of the younger generation are they appealing too? There are some of us younger people who like the classiness, elegance and non-tacky packaging of Guerlain's products. I wouldn't try to compete with MAC's target base, but better yet maybe NARS', Lancome's etc. who are more mid-level and whose customers won't mind paying an extra $15 for a more luxury item. I feel them going from the gorgeous tortoise shell and wooden packaging to these summer swimsuit style stuff is so not Guerlain lol. I like the colours, but they wouldn't make me more intent on buying from the brand and I could see them being a deterrent to the current loyal customer base. So, I personally hate that everyone wants to appeal to the young ones.
That's the one. Anyone knows anything about this? I've Not managed to find any info anywhere.I think you guys mean this one from an earlier post by Maggie: http://www.specktra.net/t/62889/guerlain-discussion/4740#post_2876984
I think someone earlier said it might have been an employee special item for the opening of the new factory. Other than that, I haven't heard a thing. I quite like the bees and the factory lol. That's the one. Anyone knows anything about this? I've Not managed to find any info anywhere.
Also I don't see how the current trend is appealing to the youth!! All they have done is move from their previous packaging to a lot cheaper version while the pricing remains the same. Or maybe down by a dollar or two! All I can see is cuts made in manufacturing cost while the retail remains the same and no radical change in the target crowd!
They seemed to digress with their summer packaging all together---those various colored silicone frisbee disks and now this. Maybe they're playing to a different
audience or something
Makes sense! Good luck finding that young audience!!!They are. I was told that they're changing their strategy and aiming for a younger audience that may be more price sensitive. Think about the price of the powders- a few dollars cheaper than Chanel Les Beiges, etc and the price of the new fragrances. They're also doing advertising for the first time.
I'm so, so glad you love the product!!!!! What are your thoughts on the packaging????
Thanks! The packaging! They went the cheapo route for sure! For $85, the packaging leaves much to be desired. I don't dislike the overall look of it, I like the white & gold, but it's cheaply done. This is a big, oversize compact, but it feels light as a feather bc of the plastic. There are drug store compacts that feel more substantial than this. I also see the gold logo coming off very easily if handled frequently or stored poorly. It's just very plain and cheap, honestly.[COLOR=0000FF] I'm so, so glad you love the product!!!!! Pretty! Can't wait for mine to arrive now! Here is a quick swatch of the Terre D Ete. It's swatched heavily on the bottom and lightly on the top. I wore it yesterday and I loved the peachy warmth it gave my skin, it made my face look alive and healthy. I'm light-medium with yellow undertones. It's not very pigmented, so I had to build the color up. The gold overlay comes off immediately and is pretty much gone on the side I used. There are two shades once the gold is gone. The main warm peachy color, then the sun rays are bronze. Beneath the gold overlay, it's bronze. It lasted all day on me on a hot day. So I'm really happy with it and I still LOVE the tea scent. I used the left side where the gold is nearly gone.
Yay, you will love it! I was surprised as to how beautiful it looks on. Enjoy!Pretty! Can't wait for mine to arrive now!
Good points Vee!!!I think someone earlier said it might have been an employee special item for the opening of the new factory. Other than that, I haven't heard a thing. I quite like the bees and the factory lol.
Yes, Vee read that on literature that was linked earlier today.
