I don't have a problem with them trying to target a younger crowd who will someday grow into loyal mature customers. The problem is which sector of the younger generation are they appealing too? There are some of us younger people who like the classiness, elegance and non-tacky packaging of Guerlain's products. I wouldn't try to compete with MAC's target base, but better yet maybe NARS', Lancome's etc. who are more mid-level and whose customers won't mind paying an extra $15 for a more luxury item. I feel them going from the gorgeous tortoise shell and wooden packaging to these summer swimsuit style stuff is so not Guerlain lol. I like the colours, but they wouldn't make me more intent on buying from the brand and I could see them being a deterrent to the current loyal customer base.
Also I don't see how the current trend is appealing to the youth!! All they have done is move from their previous packaging to a lot cheaper version while the pricing remains the same. Or maybe down by a dollar or two! All I can see is cuts made in manufacturing cost while the retail remains the same and no radical change in the target crowd!
I think that the only advertising that they're doing to appeal a younger crowd is for the La Petite Robe Noire perfumes. It seems to be working (it worked for me, lol), but apparently they want to attract the young adult American crowd because they seem to be the more challenging crowd. As for pricing, it increased while several packaging and quality products have been a little lackluster and unexpected from Guerlain such as occasionally reverting to cardboard packaging for meteorites perles, some of the recent eye shadows have been a little stiff, the bazillion Shalimar flankers which aren't needed but they do it to fill some kind of quota, and etc. Where I'm at, the brand barely does any promotion whatsoever. You only know if there's something going on if there's suddenly a big display, a European consultant drops by, or the SAs are dressed differently from their usual black attire with a bee pin.
As a 25 year old, I like the brand for its rich history in perfumes and the makeup is one of the best out there. It took me a lot to get over the gold packaging because back then I used to dismiss everything gold and red as
old lady makeup. If I want edgy and cool, then I go for Mac, MUFE, and Urban Decay. If I want kitsch and cute, then there's Too Faced and Mac. If I want sophisticated and top notch, then I go for Guerlain and Chanel to an extent. For a luxury brand I expect a quality product in excellent packaging, whether it's a permanent item or LE.

I wore it yesterday and I loved the peachy warmth it gave my skin, it made my face look alive and healthy. I'm light-medium with yellow undertones. It's not very pigmented, so I had to build the color up. The gold overlay comes off immediately and is pretty much gone on the side I used.
There are two shades once the gold is gone. The main warm peachy color, then the sun rays are bronze. Beneath the gold overlay, it's bronze.
It lasted all day on me on a hot day. So I'm really happy with it and I still LOVE the tea scent.
I used the left side where the gold is nearly gone.
