^^^^^Some clarification! ;)

I love the Southwest! I spent a good amount of time there on scholarship to study ancient thru contemporary Native/American Indian arts, culture & history. I promise I will/would be the first to scream foul if MAC does anything offending.

That sounds impressive!
I really hope Mac won't disappoint here.

This collection is a skip for me. I'm so insulted. Gives me the same bad taste in my mouth i get when I see people dress up as my people for Halloween. Every symbol, every bead, every color represents something very spiritual and precious to us. This collection is bull----

I really hope Mac's gonna give some "good" explanation or so for the whole theme, otherwise I'll be disappointed . But I 'm thinking about skipping as well.
I also hope that the whole thing might help to create awareness of cultural appropriation.

I hope you're right! Because if not, I'm done with MAC. I mean that sincerely. My mother is Jamaican and Navajo. My father is Spanish and Indian (from India). I represent so many different people in this one body. And I will honor them all.

You are not alone in this. I am Irish, German, Sioux & African American.

I am not. Style Warriors...

The Rodatre fiasco was a completely different issue.

Designs, motifs, symbols abound everywhere. I would believe MAC would do their due diligence before thoughtlessly & carelessly appropriating from any culture. If anything they have the brand power to bring about positive cultural awareness. I think it best to reserve judgement and not jump to conclusions until we get the full details of the release.

I agree that the Rodarte situation was a different issue but by referring to that I meant that MAC still doesn't seem to have learned about sensitivity towards appropriation. I work with some first nations groups on a daily basis and I see this collection toeing a VERY fine line. Some people in these nations will be offended, others will not. I, for one, definitely wouldn't feel comfortable pulling this out of my purse at work and probably in other public places too.
Yarah has more clearly and concisely expressed the immediate concern I felt.

So I just got an email from MAC about the Blushing Ballerina collection being out.... It is all permanent products! Ugh, what a letdown, with that name, it could have been a really, really cool collection.

Oh well, more money for Vibe Tribe.

NYX can be a bit hit or miss, but so can MAC. I like a lot of MAC products, but there's also a ton of very average products and formulas, and then some really bad stuff that should never have made it past quality control. A lot of their perm products could really do with updating, drugstore formulas have caught up and then some.

What keeps me coming back to MAC is the huge colour selection (and the special packaging :bonk:). The quality very rarely blows me away and I would say many of the products I own are similar quality-wise to my favourite NYX, Colourpop, Kiko etc. products, or worse.

I agree. The only reason I bother with MAC is for limited because I'm pretty satisfied with NYX, ColourPop, Kiko (as you said) and whatever else I stalk at Sephora (higher-end brands). NYX has to work on their packaging imo, otherwise I love their stuff. I mostly buy the lip products especially since they have a great color range and come out with the trendy stuff I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for. I also love their brow mascara and Wonder Pencil. I use those daily. I also like their dewy and matte setting sprays, Soft Matte Lip Creams and Intense Butter Glosses and Slide-On eye liners. Most of my lip liners are NYX. I like their eyebrow gel but don't like the packaging (tube).
