Nail Polish Discussion - Any Brand

Made a start on sorting pics to share!
These two are ones I made, the multi is Brainstorm, the blue is Chelsea Monday:


The blue is much sparklier in real life. The multichrome is allegedly magnetic - I don't know if I failed to make it properly or if it's just the usual me being unable to work magnetics properly! I did try...
Going to see what else I can find and if I have time to edit anything more before I have to do other things!

Last week's mani was Illyrian Chronic:

It wasn't at all what I expected! In the bottle I had it down as jewel-toned turquoise blue, on the nails it is a much darker green. It's also an unexpectedly holo polish! I liked it, and it was nice to go a bit brighter for this one but it was nowhere near as bright as I expected. I have since had three major nail breaks, my first for a while. This mani had been doing well until then, but that killed it and I had to change it out.

This is nice, but yes, definitely green!

Been meaning to post a few things, I've been mixing again:

All My Heroes Wear Red. This one is a bit of a disaster - I found some "bargain" metallic flakies on Etsy but they are way too big and thick, this just didn't work well sadly. I've splashed out on a few non-DRK ingredients to try to stop having to import all the bits but this was a definite fail. I got several bags of these but I'm going to sell them on as they aren't suitable. I also bought a load of micas, some iridescent flakies, some duochrome pigments and some chrome flakies, with mixed results.

Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat. This is really cute, very happy with this one, a little different from my other pretty pink flakies I've made (but not very!).

Mrs Lando. This one is somewhere in between, I mixed some of my cheap brown mica with my neon coral, looking for a base that would work with this weird purple and orange glitter that came in one of my DRK labs. It's OK, not something I would buy but kind of cute! I have loads of that glitter left, so more experiments will follow. That was one weekend's work! I've made some more, will post at a later time... when I get a chance to look at and edit the photos.

Then I did this mani, Sally Hansen Ruby Slipper topped with Nail Pattern Boldness Alpha Nail:

It was a bit of a disaster, though I liked it. You can see the bald spots in these close-ups but either because of my bad eyesight or because you don't see it that close up irl, it looked OK. The SH ran out halfway through (stupid opaque bottles!) and I couldn't be bothered starting again, thought I'd got away with it until I saw these pics! I have never particularly liked that SH, kind of glad it's gone but annoyed it was mid-mani. The topper is really cute, sparkly and shifty - I must have had it for about 10 years and never used it, I think it will work with a lot of polishes if I ever get round to wearing it again! So yay, finished a full-size bottle of polish!

I like your creations, even the green one. Reminds me of a polish I own, but couldn't tell you which one. Not really keen on the Sally Hansen one, I have a lot of their polishes and most of them are a bit rubbish. Got carried away buying their multichromes about 12 years ago and still haven't worn all of them.

I have only worn two polishes since I last posted and I didn't take pictures of either, sorry. They were Picture Polish Freya's Cats and Takko Createur. Neither were that amazing.

What did you buy from HHC? I like the Pahlish, but decided not to get it. I have a good few polishes waiting at FF, and there are 4 from HHC March, so that'll do me. I'm glad my polish buying impulse has died down, really don't need to be buying more (ever again, lol).

Thanks Anita, I find it so fun making them, it's not something I would ever have thought of until now and I adore some of the combos I've made! Most of them are in tiny 5mm bottles as I figure that's all I will ever need!
I don't have many SHs, I bought the whole holo collection as one of my very early nail polish buys, and picked up a single other one on eBay. I've used them quite a lot due to my collection being very small when I got them, but to be honest I never really took to any of them except the purple holo. I think a few are finished. I wouldn't buy from them nowadays as they're not cruelty free.
Shame about the pics but at I have worn Createur in the past, I liked it but not sure I would now.

I keep thinking I might go back and add the Swamp Gloss, but I do already have a couple of similar SGs I bought recently. One more day to decide! I also have a few more VVs coming via HHC soon... I queried if she'd got a stockist yet, but no luck, however she checked if HHC were happy to ship again and they were so I took advantage. I think she's trying to sort out the tax thing so she can ship direct in future. Will be expensive though, the HHC option has been really cool of them.

Oddly, I keep looking at polishes I want to buy and thinking "I could make that!" I don't think I'll be buying any really simple finishes any time soon with my new hobby! Long may that at least carry on. I really am finding since I've gone down to one day a week in the office that my manis are lasting two weeks or more, which means I am wearing so many less of my polishes, it's actually a bit annoying. Plus I only allow myself to make polishes when I it's time to change my nails. Usually on a weekend, so I get a couple of days to play before my new mani goes on. I generally don't have naked nails these days, but often a patchwork over the weekend!

I also painted my toenails last weekend with FF Gentlemen's Scuffle, but haven't taken any pictures yet. It was very hot last Sunday, but it's been a bit meh since then.

I haven't bought any polishes, but I've been quite spendy otherwise. What I'm most pleased about is that I managed to get a ticket to a show with Jon Bon Jovi in Kingston this coming Thursday. It's not a concert, he'll talk about the new album and take questions from the audience. It's a very small venue, so I didn't expect to get a ticket, but I did! Maybe my ninja finger training from Enchanted restocks has finally paid off! It's only about an hour long, which is just fine, I'll be going straight from work, so just perfect. Quite excited now!

Tonic Polish Koi Pond (my decant from Anitacska) - I really like this! But I didn't have a clue this was a magnetic until after I had finished my mani and googled it. Not that I'm good with magnets anyway....
I spent the bank holiday weekend mostly mixing new polishes, I will share them when I've uploaded and edited them, I did a fair few, some well cute! Also need to upload current mani pics but always seem to be behind! Next time!
Weirdly, my last PPU order turned up at the house today - instead of going to Nailland. I was struggling to sort out my Nailland order (too many polishes, hard to meet shipping threshold while staying within size limit these days) - this will at least solve that issue. I've cheekily emailed to ask her to refund the forwarding fee, we'll see if that succeeds!

Yes, I guess a lot of my older polishes are holos (FF used to make some stunning ones), and I can't be bothered with glitter polishes or even magnetics.

Did they send the PPU order directly from the US? I thought they don't ship to the UK anymore? Or am I confused? I'm always puzzled by the HHC one, it says they send it to Stackry, but the USPS tracking shows that it's going to Fiona directly. Weird. Just waiting for my March order to be posted by her.

I went a bit crazy with ordering from FF. I noticed a Girly BIts polish I once tried to order from Rainbow Connection and it was out of stock by the time she was shipping (never understood how that happens!), so she refunded me. As my youngest is turning 18 this month, my ex is going to stop paying me as much as he has been, so I really need to cut my beauty spending now. Not that I've been buying many polishes (although I do have 30 waiting to be shipped from FF), but I am still buying perfumes like they're going out of fashion, so that needs to stop. He said he will still pay me some money as 2 of my children are still living with me, the bills are a lot (it's a big house, council tax is £330 a month) and the pets' insurance alone is over £300 a month, but money will definitely be tighter from now on. Oh well, it might help me finally stop buying!
