4 pan or 15 pan palettes and why?

I am in the process of depotting, and haven't decided if I should get 4 pan or 15 pan palettes. Which do you have any why? Do you wish you'd gotten the opposite? Right now, I have 14 shadows if that makes a difference. TIA!

I have 6 15-pan palettes and 3 4-pan palettes and a few pre-made quads (which I'm de-quading). I love the 15 pans because they store so much and they're color coordinated and I have them labeled so I know which is which. I use the 4 pans for when I travel or when I go to the gym. I love both for different reasons. I definitely prefer them over pots, that's such a hassle for me. I like everything organized and the pans are not as bulky to store. HTH!

15-pan palettes for me- they take up less space, and you can coordinate more colors and have a lot of choices without opening countless quads.

15 pan!

I have a ton of quad pans and a few 15 pan palettes and a couple of the plastic hinges on the quad palette broke. 15 pan is much more sturdier and after enough of the quad hinges break, i will switch over all my eyeshadows to 15 pan palettes

I like to use the 15-pan for home and the 4-pan for travel. With the 15-pan.. you get so many more colours at your fingertips. With quads, you'd need to have a lot open all at once (which is a pain since i'm always scared I'll knock them off my counter). I like to use the quads for travel since you can get all the shades you need.. and not worry about losing/breaking 15 shadows all at once.

From a purely aesthetic view... the quad's scratch like mad and the 15 is super sleek.

15 pan all the way! I don't own any quads and don't intend to, what's the point? I'd rather have 2 or 3 15 pan palettes than a bizillion quads.

I have both, and I like the 15 pan because it holds more. The one downside to palettes though is if you drop it..you're going to break a few shadows. which sucks, especially if you break anything LE/DC. I've done that quite a few times. XD

I starting depotting when I got to around 25 shadows, I got so tired of flipping over pot after pot loooking for that one shadow. The 15 Pans make so much sense for storage, I keep 2 or 3 custom made quads and rotate depending on my mood and outfit. Between those, and the 11 premade quads, I don't think I could handle any more quads (except still collecting the premade Quads). Now, I'm on my 7th 15 pan, in addition to the 14 quads. Getting out of hand........ but sigh, I just LOVE eyeshadows.

I have seven of the fifteen pan palettes and only one of the 4 pan...I keep all my eyeshadow in the 15's to keep them organized and then put the colors i am using that day in my 4 pan to take with me...I want another 4 pan though because sometimes I wear more than 4 colors.

i totally prefer the 15-pan. it's much easier to coordinate all my colors, plus they tend to be sturdier and (to me) take up less space. i have yet to drop one, knock on wood! i currently only have two, plus one quad, and a bunch of pots of e/s. i wish i'd counted, but i believe that my roommate has over a dozen 15-pan palettes and at least 6 custom quads.

agreed with the 15-pan-ers. i'm working on my 7th 15 pan, and honestly, i couldn't deal with having quads, for the volume of shadows i own. the 15 pans are sturdier (at least in my mind), take up less space, and i like how its easier to color code them, versus having to dig through 39329 quads. i have little colored star stickers in the bottom right corner of all my 15 pans, so i know what color scheme is in what palette. i do my makeup in my room, and have plush carpet, so i've never had a breakage problem, although i could see how it would be an issue. i do own a couple empty quads, if i want to pop out a few pans, and throw in my makeup bag for a night out. i de-quadded several of my pre-made quads, and regret it now..oh well, you learn.

I'm new to Mac but I've gone for 4 pan for travelling and 15 to store pans at home.

I have about 6 15 pans sorted by color families and 1 4 pan for the shadows I use everyday (highlighter and my brow color). The 15 pans are just way more convenient for me, and store better in my makeup caddy. It also gives me incentive to buy more and fill them up!

As far as dropping them goes, yep I've done that too! Thankfully only one shadow broke and it was one I had a double of.

I have a more modest collection of eyeshadows. I have one 15 pan pallette and one quad. The quad's don't seem as sturdy as the 15 pan pallette in my opinion.

About ten quads, and three 15-pans.

I use the quads for travelling, or for when I know what exactly colours I'm going to use on a client and don't need variations. I keep my top four eyebrow shades in a quad by themselves for convenience. I also store the metallic lustres in quads so they don't contaminate an entire pallette with their shedding.

The large pallettes can be annoying when you also have blush pallettes. Not having a clear lid makes them a wee bit annoying (actually, very annoying) at times, especially when you're hunting for one particular shade of e/s and have to open them all up.
