B2M-ing Depots Rant

First off, I guess I really didn't know you could B2M the pro pans, but it kinda makes since, if the label & magnet is intact. Even then, the value of that vs. say a lipstick tube?! I wouldn't think they'd be even close.

I personally don't see the difference in pot w/o pan, buying pans off the net to put in the pot or putting your piggies in different containers, let alone dividing them up and selling them.

Let us take in full pot casing, pot, lid, plastic pan (whole thing minus the silver pan) and then only the pro pans.

I haven't B2M'ed since August but the counter I go to never even checks. They just ask to have the bag of empty containers (to prevent shoplifting of course) while you go off and pick which lipstick you want. They've even allowed me to get LE lipsticks with absolutely no problem. In fact I've only B2M'ed once for a lipstick in the permanent line, all the others were LE ones. They've also never mentioned anything about depotted e/s pots, and I hope they dont at least til after the hello kitty collection.

I think that they should accept depotted e/s pots. We dont have any Freestanding stores here so I dont really think the counters get alot of pro pan e/s. I think if they stop I just wont B2M as much. Since it can take a long time to completely finish a product and even longer for certain products like e/s. I have no problem returning the empty pans when I'm done with them without asking for that to be counted as a B2M item as long as they accept my depotted pots.

Are counters generally more accepting than stores?

What part of the memo aren't they getting, that's what I don't understand? I mean there must be a reason so many stores think this. I was in Cali this weekend and yea, 2 stores wouldn't take them (finally one of the girls agreed to do it when a manager wasn't present, lol) and I was *this close* to having them call the CS but I was worried maybe I was in the wrong, and didn't want to annoy the hell out of them. I am just going to buy some pans and do that, and my local counter accepts depots, so I'm going to see if they will take them for HK l/s (depending on if they can do special packaging, but my friend works there so it should be ok) and do it that way.

I don't think it is so many stores...But maybe just a few of the stores near a few of the people on Specktra....I have a friend that lives in Cali that is on this site and she takes hers back all the time...depotted...I have never had a problem either and there are so many others on here stating they have no problems in all different states. I would not care about annoying them...If they said they wouldn't take them...and you had them call and they said Ok I can take them.....then good...If they still said No, I still can't ...then it was still nothing lost.

Now I have been told I cannot exchange for HK...not sure why...but it is what it is...and other locations will probably allow it...

^^ I called my bff who works at a counter in CO, and she said a) they do accept depots and b) they accept b2m for special packaging including HK. She also said the store in the same mall accepts depots- she can't take them in so her friend does it for her, but it's never been a problem. My counter here likewise accepts depots, and has b2m'd for special packaging in the past, not sure about recently. I'm just going to b2m at the stores/counters I know will take them, and if worst comes to worst, I will buy pans. I still have like 15 products worth of pots, lol.

From other peoples posts, it does seem as if counters are more willing to accept depots than stores. But I've only ever shopped at 2 different MAC counters. And I've always done all my B2Ming at the one counter and there never was an issue with depots.

We don't even have a single MAC freestanding store in the state that I live in (Pennsylvania). So I can't even try to B2M at a store to see if they'll let me. In fact a Nordstroms JUST opened at some mall here but its pretty far from where I live I think.

^^ Really, not a single store in the state? I would think at least KoP would have one, no? Well don't worry, I am nowhere near a store either, here in Utah! And as long as the counters accept the depots, that rocks!

abbyquack, I was starting to feel like a loner here with the no stores around us! I get soo jealous when everyone talks about shopping at the stores and have so much more to buy from. When I can only go to counters which I'm fortune to live very close to a mall that has one but I can't help but get sad about missing out on being able to buy pigments and some LE items.

Hmmm..I found a listing for MAC for King of Prussia Mall at the mall's website (I've never been there, dont even no where its at lol!) but idk if its a store or what. I assumed that there were no stores in my state whenever I did a search on MAC's online website for the location of the closest store to me and it kept saying the closest one was out in ohio, so idk!

I think that the B2M program is very generous of MAC. It's something that MAC doesn't even have to do, and no other company does it. Going along with MACs stipulations for the program is so worth it. It's a shame that there are the few dishonest people that want to take advantage of the program by trying to use the depotted pans, but that's the reality. I'ts enough for me that they even have the B2M program, regardless of what they will or wont take back. I don't think anyone should complain about getting something for free. This is an incentive program and it's another perk of being a MAC customer.
