Collection Superstition (Fall 2013)

I went for it and ordered my first cream blush/ first chanel "purchase." I went with insperation. I almost got destiny by accident. Don't think that would work for me.

This is completely off topic but I just had to pass along this recommendation. As part of their Anniversary sale, Nordstrom is offering a Kevyn Aucoin Iconic Eye Palette. I picked mine up yesterday and am in love with it. In addition to 3 eyeshadows, there is a sculpting powder that can be used on the eye or to contour the face, and the celestial powder in candlelight which is a highlighter + black eye liner all for $60.

Althought the eyeshadow colors may look boring (but they are staples you can use all the time), they look soo good on and the quality is unlike anything I've ever used. If you are at all interested, I highly recommend this.

I so wish I had seen this review before I bought the quad. I was just so excited about the greens. I tried it yesterday and for me anyway it is the worst Chanel product I have ever used. It was so powder, major fallout, and the lightest color has so much glitter it's like a UD glitter e/s. sadly it will be going back. Oh well more $ for anniversary sale. Does anyone have a link to all the Anniversary sale items, at least the beauty specials? I'm having a hard time finding a link. Rough week, we had to have one of our cats put down. She's was almost 19yrs old so she a good log life. And like her sister that had to be out down in Feb except for normal old age slowing down she went downhill quickly. There was no long drawn out pain or suffering. And it was very clear what needed to be done so none of the "is it time or wait and see" on our part. Tuesday evening all of a sudden her back legs gave out. She could hardly get up with a struggle. I stayed up all night with her & cleaned up after her as much as she would let me. She went from being able to wobble maybe a foot to about 5 inches. By Wed. morning when she tried to get up she couldn't. It was sad & so hard to watch. We had little containers of treats, tuna, & water all around her. She ate nothing but a nibble here and there and no water. My daughter tried mixing some water with the liquid from canned tuna & she drank a little. Our vet does that at the last appt of the day so you can have as much time as you need or want. On top of that those of you who remember my post last fall about my son & daughter-in-law there's been no change. Sat marked 11 months since I've seen my grandson. The holidays were hell and also his 2nd birthday in April. And to think this starting when she got upset when I was to pick him up from his little 2 day a week Mother's Day out school. My car's transmission went out the night before & I was going to drive our Accord. When it was time to leave it wouldn't start, battery decided to quit. I put his carseat in my daughter's car while calling her inside the house to run out with her keys. I talked to my son & told him the deal with the cars and that his sister would be driving & reminded him the air didn't work. He said fine just hurry cause they charged a sh*ton for every minute after 3 & it was 2:52. Hubby fixed the car. The next day being my day watch him all day I was 10 min late cause I couldn't find keys to the Accord. She met me at the door handed my grandson to me & left. And then I did the ultimate sin of letting him have 3 of the tiny about an inch long gummy worms. They let him have some sweets and she had even told me a few months prior that her dad seeks him chocolate. She called & went off on me. She blasted me about the gummy worms. I reminded her that she had told me about the chocolate & ice cream her parents give him. She said he has well balanced meals there. That was almost funny as I watched him at their house and fed him what she put out for him to have that day. And that the day before when she found out that he rode in a car without air & just the windows down it made her sick to her stomach. And that she should have been notified first. I told her I had talked to my son & he ok'd it and that cars used to not have air conditioning. I told her he was fine & yes we were hot but with air flowing from the open windows it wasn't bad. I played with him while my daughter drove and we were only had to go 10-12 miles to meet my son who wanted to meet at Sonic. And to get my grandson a Wacky Pack with chicken strips, tator tots, & drink. We got out to sit at the table & about to order when my son walks up says nothing about the car problems but yet does tell me he took my carseat & put in his truck. It was fine but he could have asked, but he never does with me. So very stupid. She & I were close before this. I used to take her to lunch, to the store buy $200 of food, cleaning supplies & fill up her SUV. I gave her cash all the time cause she said my son never gave her any, or put in their joint account & she didn't even have enough to get a diet coke on the way home. They rarely had to buy anything for my grandson. Of course grandmothers do that anyway. I bought diapers, wipes, formula when he was still on it,and of course tons of cute clothes and toys. We also saved them from losing their house from when our son was in Iraq. As a young couple with a baby usually money is tight. I gave then a couple hundred dollars to shop together for his first Christmas besides buying his big Santa gift they chose. It's fun to shop together for your child's first bday & Christmas. This sounds like money is so important to me. But I really don't care about that and we know we'll never see that $10,000 again. i just want to see my grandson and son. Sorry about vomiting all that on here. We were talking about fun stuff....makeup.

Wow---it's so gorgeous Elegant. Thanks for the amazing photos & swatch. Just found out that mine shipped from Neiman's, and I'm so looking forward to getting it!
I'm in love with this formula and ordered two more of the créme blushes from Chanel last night.
Affinite - A very very pretty warm rose medium pink. Its like a deeper Dior Capri.

Thanks for the tip, pbpink.
Yes, MR's a limited edition and your comment decided me to plump down the cc for it.

Here's another review of the quad

Haven, I appreciate your comparison between Gri-gri and Corinthian. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing that review. I've worn the shadows from the quad five times since purchasing it recently and I LOVE it.

Thank you for your support. I just don't know what i would do without you guys. I joined Specktra to chat about cosmetics & learn about new products and ones I had never tried. I love all of it as I am a product junky. However those of us that have been around a while know that Specktra is so much more. I have never experienced the amount of caring and support among a group like this. I remember one woman sharing her recent diagnoses of breast cancer. I'm sure she felt a bit iffy about posting such personal feelings on here. But everyone surrounded her with love, thoughts and prayers providing her with encouragement through her treatments and healing. Some on here had been through something similar which gave her hope and replaced the feelings of isolation with positive thoughts about her future. It was clear in her posts she had a whole new attitude in facing her disease. A few years ago a college girl was seriously considering ending her life. She was already cutting herself badly. She had recently found out she was pregnant and her bf took off. He had beaten her many times in the past. Her family turned their back on her blaming her for the abuse her boyfriend inflicted on her. She was not married and pregnancy was unacceptable in her culture. Her bf told her to get rid of it. She had a painful botched abortion that was not finished. they told her to leave and kept the money she had saved up. she had hit the bottom. She wanted advice from anyone of what she could do. She wasn't even sure of her options. I haven't seen any post from her since a few weeks after that and haven't been able to find more. I think we all had many ideas of what we'd do to him given the chance. It was so sad. I just wanted to give her a big hug an let her cry it out. I hope and pray that she is ok & doing well. If you're relatively new here you will see this type of nonjudgemental support we share. Feel free to post if you find yourself needing to vent, bitch, or share something personal, you will not find yourself alone.

This has certainly been my experience with Specktra and you put it just beautifully. I find it's been a fantastic opportunity to meet some incredible women (and the occasional chap) who I might never have encountered but for this space.

I'm so sorry to hear about the harsh times you've been having and you can always count on finding support here. Yes, we're here to talk about makeup, but we're also here to just be ourselves without judgment or undue criticism.

I think gri-gri and Corinthian are different enough to justify owning both. The textures are very different. Gri-gri is much more sparkly and not as smooth as Corinthian. I also find Corinthian to be a more complex color and gri-gri to have more brown under tones. Both are great shadows. Corinthian is one of my faves and I am near pan.

Thanks Katred! I'm in the process of moving from Winnipeg, MB to Ottawa, ON at the moment (the big move is next week, Tuesday) and it's a three day drive for us. I was worried I would miss this collection. But, I'm glad because Ottawa has a Holt Renfrew whereas Winnipeg does not. Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely check into it!

SH is on my list of things to get from RBR, along with Delicate Hummingbird, which I think is also in the same family (although cooler and a bit more purple). I'll have to see GRi-Gri in person before I make a decision. I'm trying to be good about not duplicating shades, but I feel like I have to make an exception for taupes...
I have both SH & DH and love to use both. They are actually the only RBR shadows that I own. I have a weakness for these types of shades as well.
