Guerlain discussion

Oh, that's lovely, katred!

And I love the new (old) hair colour! Suits you and looks quite vampy!

I'm brown-eyed and brown-haired, quite warm overall, and I love the green palette. I used the coral on my cheeks yesterday, and it somehow made the look, because it took up the colour I also used on my eyes. It's my first Guerlain quad, and I love the texture of the shadows. I would have loved the palette even more if not all colours had a quite decent amount of shimmer, but the texture and colours are to die for. I tried to skip it because I thought I could dupe the colours, but as it turned out, I couldn't. Of course, I have light greens, dark greens, khakis and corals in my collection, but not as complex as the Guerlain ones.

Lovely look, Kate! And I too love the hair - it suits you so well!! How do you like Rendezvous? Is that what's on your lips? If so, it looks gorgeous!! I love it - it also looked amazing on Temptalia - I'm so glad I got it!

I wish we were getting that Sakura blush, but I'm still hoping Izzy's will get it, but at not too high a premium.

Thanks for the photos and the blog pics Anitacska!

Miss QQ - I hope you're able to get it soon!!!

Thanks ladies! That is Rendez-Vous on my lips. It's a gorgeous natural mauve-pink. It's funny, because my lips have a very mauve tone to them, so this really is like a "my lips but better" shade, but not in a way I normally get. Most light pinks are warmer-toned than my real lips. I absolutely adore the colour. Sadly, like a lot of light shades, it's not terribly long-lasting, but I'm not too annoyed by that. I do wonder at the release of this and Romance in the same collection- they're very close (Romance is a little lighter and paler on me).

I'm planning on going back for Coup de Foudre, Flirt and the infamous ballz... I'm also tempted by Ballade, although soft corals like that can go horribly awry on me. Try before you buy.

And, yes, I'm happy to have the dark hair back. I like the blonde, but my hair never feels as healthy and it's just too much of a pain to keep up with.

I think that I will do another look with this palette today.

It's a perfect subtle spring-y look on the eyes. It's very soft, but noticeably pink/ purple. I think these are the sorts of cool purples that almost anyone could wear:

Thank you SO MUCH for posting this look. I think this color might work for me--I have similar pale coloring, green eyes. I love the texture of these on Natural N Chic makeup's post. Does anyone think it's office friendly in terms of the color in real life? It looks so beautiful on you. I'm wondering whether I'll be brave enough to wear it for an everyday look.

Kate--love the soft e/s and the l/s is gorgeous. I too like your hair darker. It just seems to suit you better and highlight your beautiful skin.

Thanks very much ladies! I should add that this look lasted fantastically well throughout the day and into the night. I feel like the other quad is getting more attention, because it's got more intense shades and is possibly a little more universal, but ignore Attrape-Coeur at your peril.

In answer to your question, patentg33k, it could absolutely work as an office look. Other than the dark purple, which can be used as a liner, the shades are quite soft and are quite perfect Spring pastels. Because they're in the same family, they blend into each other quite well. On the look above, I actually applied the dark purple to in the crease with a pencil brush and blended it just a little to give myself a more pronounced effect. There are absolutely more delicate options!

And looky here- Best Things in Beauty has a preview of the Terracotta collection for this year, which will be coming out in March:

Even Guerlain can't tempt me to bronze, but two of those shades appear to have really pretty pink blushes as part of the palette... Wish they were available on their own...

I really like the look of the one with the light pink in it, but I hardly use bronzer and I already have about 4 of the Terracotta ones. I'm waiting to see what the summer collection face powder will be before I buy any more bronzers.

I love love love guerlain bronzers. They are by far the best ones on the market. When I saw that picture my heart skipped a beat

can't wait to see them!

Super clear photos of swatches of Sakura from my friend Vicky's blog here: http://vanity-fashionista.blogspot.ca/2013/02/guerlain-damage.html

She also reviewed the white Meteorites powder from the same collection. It came back in stock on Selfridges a few nights ago and I managed to snag one, went out of stock immediately after so I'm glad I've been stalking the site regularly. I've been collecting the Guerlain blushes that come out in that big compact so I'm excited to receive mine to add to my collection =D

After seeing the sakura on the blog i got a doubt about it.....previously was so excited for it then it killed me seeing it being so peachy rather than pinky...
the good news is that paradise balls can be used as a blush on my fair skin so at least i got something pink this season....

I think it's definitely more pink than peach.

I have to admit I've lost interest in it as well. The texture doesn't look appealing to me and the color(s) don't look special. Bummer.
