I like both names Cailan and Cullen. Cullen sounds more masculine tho.

I love "Cullen" and I haven't heard it before. I have a unique name that I often have to spell and pronounce and I don't mind, it has helped shape who I am! BTW, "Cailin" (different spelling, I know) is the title of a song by Unwritten Law. Love the song, but I do think the name is more common than your other options. HTH.

Thanks Shimmer! I was wondering about that and waiting to see if anyone else picked it up or if I was being too sensitive about it. Our other little boys name is Brannan - and he gets Brennan, Brendan, Brandan etc all the time and I know it annoys him. I also find myself correcting the spelling for it as well, lots of his baby gifts were engraved with the WRONG spelling and I still find myself correcting the school with his certificates and reports!

I thought the same thing and my hubby was worried that if we decided Cailan then we would probably be hearing taunts of "Caitlyn, or Lynnie" or something like that as he got older. Cullens a bit harder to find fault with, but knowing children I am sure there will be something...LOL!!

LOL - well it is here! My little boy is having a really hard time getting his tongue around Cailan - it keeps coming out like Caylum (who reminds me of this horrible little boy I know...), or Caleb...lol...he cant get it right. This happened with his name as well - he keeps getting Brendan and Brennen instead of Brannan and its frustrating at times for him and us. I really liked Cailan the best but repeating names gets awkward after a while and Cullen seems more logical - its has a very sharp keen sound to it. It might be the winner!!

My husband's name is Kalin.. spelled differently but pronounced the same way. So my vote is Cailan.

I think it's a traditional name, Scottish or Irish or something. I've definitely heard it before. Different heritages have different names.
