How much is too much for Parrot!

Me too. I know MAC watches Ebay for employees selling things, but I also find it interesting that repromote almost everything that ends up selling for a lot of money on ebay once it's discontinued (parrot, coco beach, blue pigment) If they could, I bet they'd repromote Haze too.

Haze is the only one I agree with you on there. The others *are* nice but honestly, if they weren't discontinued most people wouldn't give them a second glance because they're not all that unique. IMO Parrot is a far more unique shade than diesel, poise or clone but I would never pay that much for it.

I saw that auction... and for a moment, I considered buying it. I'm glad I didn't though, $60 is out of my price range for an eye shadow. I'm hoping it will be repromoted or that I can find a better 'deal' on it!

Heeee... Seriously, I'll be killed for what I'll say, but.....

I have Parrot in the Jewel palette, and only used it 1 X in a FOTD. That's it, that's all. Pretty in the pot, but I can't wear it, it's too bright for me.

Me too, but it works great as an eyeliner and not so intense that way. You should try it that way PrettyKitty!

If you are totally going to use it, and you have some $$ to spare, I say fine so long as you enjoy the heck out of it. It's better than buying something for $60 and letting it sit in the drawer.

I agree! I have tons of MAC stuff that I never use that cost me way more than $60 so what's the harm in spending more on something that you really want?

I have Parrot and I love it as a liner but that's all I use it for. And for gazing at adoringly of course. There's nothing wrong with that is there?

i think if you want it and have the $ to spend, why not!

it irks me when people tell others that they are crazy for spending a lot on something. it's your money, spend $200 on it if you want it!

Parrot or no Parrot?
If you have the most insatiable lemming for Parrot, then go for it. Everyone sets their own limits as to what they are willing to spend and I have to admit before Kitschmas was re-released I was very tempted to spend $100+ for a jar. I adore Parrot and I have a feeling that you will too. You've got the confidence to pull it off. Parrot is a color that you have to "own" when you wear it you have to project your inner lioness if that makes any since what so ever. It's a powerful color and deserves no less. Let us know when you get it

Same here. And I don't think I'd look any better in it if I "owned" it

LOL I'm the same way when it comes to my friends shopping with me..lol Now.. I have the turned to MAC! THEY ARE ADDICITED!

uote="Shawna"]Aww heck, I spent $265 for a pair of jeans once (ok, more than once, but don't tell my hubby
oh.gif
ops: ) My butt looks amazing in them, so if your eyes are going to look amazing in Parrot, go for it. Oh yeah, I should mention that people won't go shopping with me anymore b/c I encourage too much spending. I am extremely good at picking out things that suit them. My friend and I went out a few days ago and I encouraged her to spend over $100 just like that.

Well, that is you. I am sure that there is something in everyone's drawer or closet that another person may deem as a wasted purchase and not worth the price paid. Whether it is offered 45 is neither here nor there for me. I had a gift certificate for 50 given to me by a friend who had no use for it. As the color was one that I wanted, coupled with the fact that I use a Parrot look a like regularly, this purchase was worth it to me. This thread was not started to become a holier than thou, cast judgement opportunity. It was meant as a lighthearted type of thing to be shared with many of my Specktra buddies.

No need to get defensive. You started your thread by asking for opinions:

Quote:
"How much is too much for Parrot!"

Granted they may not have been what you hoped for...

Then you indicated your own doubt regarding your decision:
Quote:
slap a post-it on my back that reads SUCKER cuz I totally ordered it

As you said, what's done is done, all that is left is for you to enjoy your new eyeshadow

I am editing because I want to clarify something. I had no issues with any of the previous opinions stated and that is why I only quoted that one specific post in my response. I was not replying to anyone but that one person. Your answer makes it look like I am having a hissy towards everyone that disagreed with me and that could not be further from the truth. I took whatever goodnatured ribbing that came my way because i deemed it as such, good natured. I actually loved the thread... It was funny, VV cracked me up with her answer and so did Pretty Kitty. I did not get the feeling of condescension that I got from that specific post which is the reason why I responded in such a way to that one specific post.

As for you stating that I was not getting the answers that I hoped for. I was not hoping for anything in my post. I simply wanted to share my personal experience and worded it in a joking and purposely self depracating manner. I got some chuckles at some of the responses and actually got to know a few members better. That is enough for me.

Also, as per your response over the Post it with the words sucker. That was a joke too. I never felt buyers remorse over the purchase. I just thought it would be funny to say.

We will just have to agree to disagree on this one

Yeah, I just bought a $180 pair of shoes, which everyone seems to think is unreasonable. Who cares, I love em!

If you enjoy Parrot, then $60 may be worth it for you.

*looks at her BNIB Parrot pot* Haha! The color isn't for me.

Heheh, most of my friends think $13 is too much to spend on an eyeshadow.

Seriously, though, while I wouldn't pay a lot of money for Parrot (I like it and all, but I have so many colors that I never find myself really at a loss for something wonderful and bright to wear) or really anything else discontinued (too many other new things to buy!), I don't see any problem with people spending an arm and a leg for it (not that I don't get a good chuckle out of some prices, but it's all in good fun!).

Everything is worth what people are willing to pay for it, and everyone has a different idea of what is worth paying a lot to obtain. For instance, I am not really a purse person. I have a little cheap Fossil purse that I beat the crap out of and carry everywhere. I would never spend a lot of money on purses because for how I abuse them I don't see it as worth it. But, I know a lot of people do. For me, it's makeup (see comment about friends above), for them it's purses.
