If your really worried about the kids then just make sure you bring them with you when you meet a dog, espcially a shelter dog, you can never be 100% pos about what they have been though in their past. Oh and I am 100% for adopting a pet. But with kids you have to be safe rather than sorry. Oh and if you are set on a certain breed then dont forget there are TONS of breed specific rescues out there just search for them on the net!
