Regarding the issue of return policies, I'll keep my thoughts brief since I think we can all agree that it's great being able to return things that don't work for you, but we can also agree there are people out there who abuse lenient return policies shamelessly. I could share stories, but I won't. What I
will say is that the people I truly feel bad for in these situations are the sales associates/makeup artists. SAs for many brands in department stores work on commission, so those returns are money out of their pockets (and they really don't get paid much to begin with). Then there are brands like MAC, who don't work on commission in most locations, but their jobs depend on making their goals from day to day, week to week. And when people return things, that money gets deducted from how much product they sold. Now, if the SA/MA gave you the wrong thing or you had a reaction to it after using it once or twice, things like that are by all means valid reasons to return. But with things like snatching up LE items the second you see them since they sell out quickly (which I understand) or buying products after a makeover just to return them the following week so you could get your makeup done without spending a penny (which I don't understand), no matter what your feeling is on what's fair in a return policy, it's the SA/MAs who get screwed over. I can't speak to the companies' losses, but as some people have said, you know the people high up the ladder are making the big bucks regardless, so I'm not so concerned about them. It's the little guys, the SA/MAs, who I feel really get the short end of the stick in these situations as the unfortunate souls stuck in the middle of it all. Maybe I just feel that way because I've been there, but that's my two cents.
In AA related news, I know some MAC artists are going to update this week, so hopefully we'll have that color story soon!!!
