mac's moisturizers are priced at the high end of the foundations or higher ($29.50 and up). and since these are moisturizers, and not a foundation, its gonna be priced as such. they're gonna do what a moisturizer does, but have some tint to it so that it will help even out slight discolourations without the use of a foundation.
if you want, you can use it alone for moisture, but like i say below, its not gonna address your skin needs like the other moisturizers do.

man! what is it with MA giving incorrect advice!?
these are a tinted moisturizer, which means its a moisturizer with tint. its a moisturize (which is why its in the skincare section of products).
this can be used as a moisturizer by itself, if you want, because its a moisturizer. the only downside is that (even tho any skintype can use it), its not skin type specific, so it won't address your skin issues (oiliness, dryness) like the other moisturizers do. so, if you have oily skin, you may want to use oil control in addition to this as opposed to alone. i'd suggest the those with normal skin are the only ones that could possibly wear it alone.
