Just buy 1 or 2 to get you over your craving...you know it's like eating just one Lay's Potato chip...you can do it...

I'm really proud of myself. Still have not gotten anything from this collection! Sticking firm to my new budget-minded way of thinking. And using what I have!

That being said, I am loving the looks people are doing with this collection. It really is a gorgeous colour collection.

O.K. - so one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to start sharing more practical info here rather than just goofing off all the time!

So at the Pro Store the other day I picked up the following items:

#165
#226 x2
Readhead MSF
French Cuff e/s (returning)
ssad.gif

100 Strokes e/s (returning)
ssad.gif

100 Strokes is amazing and nothing like Sketch or Beauty Marked...but is, completely, dupable!

It’s funny how the MAC website still confuses the formulations on 100 Strokes and French Cuff– calling FC a (Frost) and 100 Strokes a (Lustre)(?)

The following are my dead-on recommended DUPES for 100 Strokes, Henna, and French Cuff, and, possibly, Pincurl:

100 STROKES = Twinks e/s with a light dusting of Carbon e/s
yes.gif

HENNA = Corn shadestick underneath Sable & Mink (Starflash)e/s
yes.gif

FRENCH CUFF= Bold & Brazen (Starflash) with a light pat of Tan Pigment to bring up and deepen the sheen. This combo is so much more user-friendly than FC, which is a horror to work with!
yes.gif

PINCURL= Still experimenting with this, but…I’m playing with my Lark About Pigment over say Cement shadestick…or…laying down Chiaroscuro Paint with French Grey e/s dusted with Lark About Piggie.

Bottom Line: The Starflash formulation ROCKS!!!

Thoughts anyone?

I, really, recommend to anyone who picked up the new #226 brushes to really condition those puppies!

I’ve, already classified them as those brushes that have the one or two stray hairs that spoil the soft texture of the rest - resulting in that annoying scratchy, prickly feel on the lids.

This Brush ROCKS! I will do everything in my power to maintain them and make them work. It’s the only brush I ever bought in multiples! They must make this one permanent!!!

It won’t be enough to write in to MAC, please write letters to your Senators or State Officials as well to make this brush permanent!!!

Did anyone notice the new #165 brush and how they applied a little heat to end of the slip package so as to create this kind of shrink wrap effect? And in this process they effectively crinkled/scrunched/crushed the hair fibers – making it a real joy to try to quality control your purchase.

My rule of thumb with the #165 was firmness, as it seemed like they hit the mark with softness on this brush.

It’s weird, because many stores in the Bay Area didn’t receive many of the new brushes in their shipments, including our Pro Store where I bought mine. They even sold out of the #214 by Sunday following their release!

I have to stay silent then! But in all seriousness, if you are planning on getting a lot from HK, then it'd probably be best to skip these.

I trust your opinion Nora so if there are any shadows that you think that I SHOULD get please enable away!

That goes for the rest of you as well. I have read most of the reviews and it seems like most people like pincurl, henna, flip, and 100 strokes. Those are the ones that I am eyeing.

I don't want a whole lot from Hello Kitty. Just a few lip products and maybe one of the palettes.

My top picks from the e/s would be Henna, Deep Shade and Flip. But if I'm not mistaken, you probably have a fairly diverse collection of shades already and like many have said, they're all pretty close to others. I adore Henna, but olive greens to me are what teals are to Susanne! I guess it depends on what your favourite types of shades are.

Katie--let us stay strong, I think things aren't terribly unique IMO. and *gasp* I'm SKIPPING a GREY shadow. it is shocking, but I shall live.

I don't know if I've kinda od'd from makeup but its gotta be REALLY awesome for me to get. I think a couple MUFE e/s that I've not been able to get here, should help a bit.

I don't know whats wrong with me though!!

Nora I'm happy henna works for you! I'm afraid itll show too much sumptuous olive-y (which I already have Mink & Sable which is gosh darn close). Do you have other goldy type colours or was Flip distinctive enough for you? I was swayed a bit by Deep Shade but I did get contrast, so I'll work with that in combination with deep truth to have a smokey blue eye, should I ever decide to wear that.

Seriously, I heart shadows....I so thought bbr was gonna be cah-razy for me but it certainly seems to be the glosses!

Again, nora I thank you, and you know why!

Henna for me goes on lighter and has more gold in it than SO. I don't use SO much at all because it really doesn't show up too green on my skintone, but Henna does.

I don't have a whole lot of gold shades, but Flip is really pretty. It isn't one of those tarnished type golds, which there are so many of, so it's somewhat unique. I also found that Flip works as a lovely highlight shade if applied lightly, or a nice lid shade if applied heavier. If you don't have too many golds, then I would recommend this.

What does this have to do with BBR? Several things.

1. I am wearing blonde msf on the cheeks
2. Before this pic was taken I went to the MAC store to play
3. Boobies! Even my balloon sleeves can't cover the ladies
