I Love all the great reviews so far on this fun collection!
Okay...
I, now, officially, have waaaaay too much makeup!!!
Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! *snort*
OKay - No I don't.
But...For the record - I think
we're all - one Lipgloss tube or Blush pan away from a
Paddy Wagon Ride for the "Cosmetically Insane"!!!
That being said...
My latest acquisitions include:
Porcelain Pink MSF
Cheeky Bronze MSF
Smooth Merge MSF
Improvise MB
Hand Finish MB
Cubic Powder Blush p/p
#131 Brush
Sadly, like many of you my main focus on this collection was indeed the blushes and the MSF's.
I dismissed
Trimming Talk l/s thinking it to be dupable in color, but now I realize that it is NOT in its formulation as
Girl About Town (AC),
Show Orchid (AC),
Full Fuchsia (AC),
Fuchsia Pink (AC),
and
Impassioned (AC) are all...not a FROST like
Trimming Talk! Worth noting, and if you're a fan of Fuchsia - this may be a must have I'm afraid!
To say nothing of the fact that it has
Extra Amps Dazzleglass written all over it!
*Sigh*
Madly Creative is just sublime - my favorite from the collection, but then I already have
Eden Rocks.
All of the Mineralize Blushes were surprisingly amazing! It was difficult to stay within budget here with those puppies. I don't mind the shimmery features of these blushes since I tend to layer the smithereens out of them anyway with mattes and satins.
A harmonious medium is always found. I know I'll be back for
Fab-Dabulus. How elegant is that one? It is darker than
Cheeky Bronze.
I felt very inspired by them because they seemed to be more suited for hightlighting than actual blusher. And they also really complented various MSF's as well, for instance,
Cheeky Bronze looked incredible when it was buffed out with
Improvise. It was if they were made for eachother. To me they were a set!
Hand Finish...is stunning...just stunning.
Anyone who gets this will be able to get away with murder...it is very forgiving.
I tend to never know how my cheek contour/blush execution will come out on any given evening. Sometimes things don't work out in your favor, that's why I tend to gravitate towards Blushes, Beauty powders that make things all better.
Hand Finish is Chicken Noodle Soup for blush debacles.
Porcelain Pink is very pretty and does exactly what I'd hoped it would. I hand picked one with almost no gold veining in it, mostly Pink color. I found one or two rebels in this regard. This is my first daliance with
Porcelain Pink, as I missed out on the first incarnation. I suspect that this one, truly, is a watered down version of its former self.
Beggars can't be choosers I guess!
Funny, the MAC Pro online site doesn't appear to have Cheek 'n' Cheerful MB?
Upon my first viewing of the the #131 Brush on its displayer, it looked like a disheveled ratty mess, which I wanted no part of (previously used to lay down liquid foundation on a client and then not-so-thoroughly washed).
I saw it's fate as plain as day! A high maintenance brush which will be virtually impossible to keep pretty and prestine and in order. I cannot tolerate a disobedient looking Duo-Fiber brush. They cost too much to let them look like they've gone to hell-in-a-hand-basket!
Thankfully, my determination to put this brush through its paces prevailed and I conducted my "Pepsi Challenge".
The #131...is a winner!
I was able to do magical things with that brush that no other could, as Susanne pointed out, it's the perfect size. It doesn't pick up too much product so it's great for layering your powders. It buffs - beautifully!
Please remember to QC this brush before you buy...it's a funky little devil, try to get a nice dense brush. The black hairs on it have a tendency to be very unruly looking. At least the ones I've seen. Great brush...worth the high maintenance.
The price tag is well...
, but if you're able to look away while it's being rung up, then life's good!
The "looking away" part of MAC transactions...I think we've become very adept at that - No?
