agreed. smudged violet is definately more blue-based. when swatched next to each other, mauvement is more of a goldy taupe with a tinge of purple, and smudged violet is more blue-purple. that's why i said that there isn't anything like smudged violet.

i wore x-rocks as a dupe for it until i got plum du bois. they are kind of alike, but x-rocks has alot more sheen to it since its a sheertone shimmer, and plum du bois has more gold sparkle. this difference between the two makes them unique enough to have both imo.

I always thought I was warm toned, he said I do have olive/yellow in my skin but on the 'artist's color wheel' (?) I would be considered cool. He also said that my skin tone is such that I could wear any color..warm or cool. I really have no idea what that all means but I still think I'm warm. Anyone here know what that means?

normally yellow is considered a warm color. but in mac's coloring, its a cool color. so, since you are more yellow, you'd want to look at the nc (nc=neutral cool, or yellow-based) foundations first.
i hate when people say they are warm and can only wear warm colors, or cool and can only wear cool. anyone can wear any color under the sun. its all in how you wear it!

i'd say go with plum du bois. while they are both pretty, of the two, its more unique.
