MAC - Dare To Wear Discussion

I always feel bad for the gals here that don't have any good relationships with the MA's....i mean i look at it this way. If i was a MA and i see you ALL the time and buying all the time I would become your best friend! You would get to see the stuff first and even do a preorder to guarantee your items AND i would make my sales goal...it's a win win situation.

I wish all of you guys can move here and I can share my MA with ya'll...cuz she's freakin AWESOME =)

There were couple of super nice MAs here that used to show me collections before launch or the update book, and it was nice to chat with them about Mac in general including upcoming collections.

Unfortunately I haven't seen them there in awhile and I'm afraid that they may not work there anymore.

One MA in the London Pro store told me that I'm there more than she is!

I didn't know what to say to her (I mean, I went to shop there ALOT recently and well, what could I say?

). In Finland the MAs haven't yet told me that but I bet they think that!

I just bought Poison Plum from Sugar Pill and when I received it I instantly tought about Shock-A-Holic. I wonder how close they are? Also I got Midori, the bright green. Just before Sassy Grass is coming out. And I still want them both!

You're not the Queen of England" yet any other time I'm in the store they are always pleasant.

oh, I feel so lucky to be working in this industry.. but that doesn't mean that if and when I go to a counter, some of the young ladies are really snotty and with as much knowledge as they have of a product, they don't know that I know how and when it was made.. or if it was revised 20 times..lol. I think in this life we have to ignore these types of people and just seek out an nurture the good people who behave civilly and decently. Funny thing I never ask for any advice when I go to a counter -- or to see anything - I just ask for what I want and they want to do a whole tester thing on me..lol. Been there, done that plus I am a germophobe

I had a girl the other day say, "Oh, we'd get in so much trouble if we posted anything on specktra!"

It really, really makes me appreciate the girls on here who share SO MUCH! It makes me snicker whenever the MAC staff know less about the upcoming collections than I do. Tee-hee!

Well like I said I thought I was friends with the one MA. She let me B2M a couple times taking less then they needed. Like for instance I had only the small vials from the holiday pigment sets which she counted as 3 rather then 1 since I wasnt aware of it at the time. She was so nice to me every time I went in there and I always bought something. I just dont know why she doesnt reply to me. Seems dumb to give someone your contact info then not even replying

I've talked to all of the MA's there and she's the only one that's really nice to me besides the other one I just saw on Saturday. I was bough $165 worth of stuff at the time and that's when I said something about one of the products in the Dare to Wear. I've tried hinting at stuff with names that I've gotten from here but still ......no dice

. This area is known for snotty people especially Tyson's mall which I go to sometimes. Most of the people working in stores around here barely even say hello to you!

In my courier class our teacher was talking about something similar that happened to her when she was going over how we are to treat our customers. She had gone to Harris Teeter several times and always seemed to get this one lady and this lady NEVER even would say hello to her nor would give her the total. She would merely flip around the display to show what the price was. She'd never say thank you either so one day she decided to get in this lady's line and waited her turn. The cashier rang the stuff up then flipped the display around. Our Teacher said she just stood there and refused to do anything until the cashier spoke and told her the amount. Our teacher said she did go to the office and say how rude this person was. She didnt have to go to HArris Teeter but she went there so they should be thankful for the patronage and at least be polite. She says now she may drive out of her way to go to another store just to not deal with her as she is not appreciated as a customer.

oh WHAT...i don't know about all that bc if the girls would get in trouble for posting on Specktra, we would've lost our beloved Erin long time ago...NO BUENO!!!

and the information I get from my MA and her update book i make sure she won't get busted bc i've never said her name OR the store but she knows i post here anyways hahaha

I don't want to get anyone in trouble especially since she is the one doing me a favor....

After the new swatches, I think my list is changing....

Zingy looks amazing, but someone said it was chalky.

I'm not in love with Dare to Dare like I thought I would be. Ban This! even looks more red-toned than I would have liked. But, the texture looks awesome. Maybe I will add the red one to my list and get rid of Dare to Dare. Have to decide before I go to MAC on Saturday.

My friend from college is an MA for MAC, and they are told not to talk about upcoming collections, to keep them really hush-hush. Like when I called her about 'in the groove', she was saying how they got this email about a really sweet fall collection "about villains" she said, that they couldn't talk about and were instructed to not let the word get out. haha. I told her that the word was already out and she laughed and was like "nevermind" on that.

As far as seeing collections before they launch, my Nordstrom counter back home in UT is great about having a little basket with the upcoming launch testers in it. They put it out maybe 1-2 weeks in advance and are pretty nice about letting anyone see it. Flaminbird, maybe try Nordstrom at Tyson's?

Or the other Nordstrom in No.Va I can't remember the name off hand. I do agree they are very snotty there- I visit my parents there every year and it's always horrid going in there. But last time I was there they already had Warm & Cozy on display even though it was a week before the launch...

As for these new Zoffe swatches! Can I have one of everything please!! No but I definitely want Zingy, Goin' Bananas, and Sassy Grass e/s. Ban This! and Dare to Dear dtwlg are mine too!

The only trouble with going to Tysons is that it's pretty far from where I live

. I go to FairOaks because it's only like 21 miles versus 30 or so to Tysons. Also they are building that Metro to Dulles and there's been all this construction at 495 & 66 and traffic is a mess!! I go right past it almost now since I've been going to my training classes in Alexandria this week and next though. You can guess what the traffic is like headed that way in the AM!!

. There was a really nice MUA at the Macy's counter at Tysons Galleria which is where I first tried out MAC and it's what got me stuck on it

. She did a really nice "makeover" on me for some pictures and I loved what she'd done

The light pink seems like it would be more wearable on a day-to-day basis, so if you are only getting one of them I would recommend light pink

Yes I definitely know what you mean!! It's only technically 15 minutes from my parent's house, but during the holidays it literally took 3 hours to get home.

So yea I don't blame you for going to Fair Oaks, and IIRC, the staff there is decent. I'm surprised they won't show it early...I did pre-order something there once, and they offered to show me the item but they couldn't find it- I remember they definitely had issues with locating their stock.

Plus it would require some serious web stalking on MAC's part to figure out who a certain user on here is IRL (provided that the person stays reasonably anonymous). I'd say it would be a pretty serious invasion of privacy. So I think the threat of getting in trouble for posting on Specktra is more of a preventative measure, than anything they could actually carry out.

I think I'm getting all of the l/g minus the bronzey one. They look awesome, and I love that they're so opaque worn alone!

I'm waffling on the e/s now.

I love the swatches of Sassy Grass and Going Bananas, but will I wear them? I honestly have no idea. The purples keep looking less unique with more swatches so I'll have to think about them more and see if I can find dupes in my collection.
