I like the actual colors in the products from what I can tell in the pic but most of it is just blah to me. I think I have become so anti MAC now. I haven't been to the counter in a month!

I feel you on the I haven't been to the counter in a month, and its not like are not trying, I just received a email with get your favorite product, offer code MYFAVE with free shipping from Nov. 21-23. They are pimping, HARD.

Could it be brushes 187 and 109 in the picture? I'm not sure, but I kind of hoped the other one would be 109..

Really. I don't have the urge anymore. I skipped the Holiday collection in its entirety. Now the only lemmings I have are the lippies in Dame Edna. Thats the only collection I am looking forward to even though I hate the packaging. lol Its more about whats inside than the outside for me now. I am so over all the hype. My wallet and bank account has been much happier. And I would like to keep it that way.

Now if MAC came out with a clothing line....

that would be a different story!

Hahaha me too! I'd love to have a 109 and if it's in the set, even better!

I'm just disappointed with the packaging cause I was really looking forward to some super cute HK/MAC goodies. I carry my makeup in a Hello Kitty for Tokidoki bag & its perfect(to me) it was such a well done collaboration. I feel like they took away HK's cuteness

I must be an odd ball here but I love hello kitty all chic'ed out in black. I mean we already had pink with heatherette.(even though you cant have enough pink) When Mac did Barbie it was also black with pink outline. It was something that couldve been easily done in white or pink and been cute but not really mac. I love it. I mean honestly if I want a white hello kitty with a red bow I could just go to sanrio. This is different and its what I love about MAC. It's the chic modern versatile MAC's take on hello kitty and Im loving it!!

Re: MAC - Hello Kitty Feb 2009 Discussion

I think the whole thing about the "black" in the packaging is meant to make the product a little more "grown up" like...think about it..we are dealing with Hello Kitty...a brand that is wildly popular to children...as well as adults. I think in order to give the marketing a more grown up look, they make it black...I remember back when the Barbie collection came out for MAC there was a big dispute with parents on the news accusing MAC saying that they were trying to market to children(Pre teens) by putting the Barbie name too it...IDK..but what color was the Barbie loves Mac collaboration? Wasn't it black and pink...Maybe by adding the black, they are trying to avoid being too flashy and such so that it wont draw as much attention to the younger kids that really like Hello Kitty?? IDK..what do you guys think??

Preach it, sista. Dame Edna is doing it for me too, have skipped pearlglides, MES, FELINE, Holiday collection But I did get Manish lippies and pallette but that was the last time, I have been buying Ben Nye, mostly.

I am definetely looking forward to the lips and e/s in HK.

Re: MAC - Hello Kitty Feb 2009 Discussion

I have to admit that I was hoping for pink and white and black. Which is exactly what I got. But I was hoping black wont be the dominant colour. I do like the packaging, but for me personally, it could be much better.

And I'm still getting at least one dazzleglass!

EXACTLY how I feel. At first some were skeptical because Hello Kitty conjures up images of little girls, nurseries, etc. Especially done up in white & pink. Many said they could see themselves pulling out a makeup product with that 'look'.

There is NO color that is more chic or modern than BLACK. It is Kitty all grown up, 'sophisticated', whatever you'd like to call it. MAC/Sanrio knew thay already had Hello Kitty fans wallets with this collection. They needed to reach out to everyone else too. It is easy to see why they went with this design.

If you are only a casual HK fan, (not a fanatic like myself- heck, I already have a black vinyl Kitty- I'll post a pic when I get home) seeing her in anything but white, pink or even red will take some getting used to.

^^I meant they could NOT see themselves using Hello Kitty products in public.

H&M sells pink HK cosmetics anyway. ;-)

Re: MAC - Hello Kitty Feb 2009 Discussion

I just don't like it. The doll looks like something I'd use to wrap around my child's (if I had one) arms as a life saving device in a pool. The couture compact does not look like something I'd spend $90 on. I might buy the pink lippies, but that is about it.

This is a big disappointment for me so far. I really hope some new pics arrive with something spectacular. However, I have also been on the no-buy bandwagon. Nothing seems to "wow" me anymore. I'm in a make-up funk.....

Re: MAC - Hello Kitty Feb 2009 Discussion

My thoughts:
We all have seen these colors before from MAC, the whole point of this collection is the packaging, the presentation, and the aesthetic. Sure, the collection is immense, but you don't have to buy it all. MAC and Sanrio are just trying to appease everyone. From young to old, everyone will have an item that appeals to them and their age group. From kiddie to mature woman.

Like i said, the colors are things we have seen already, although this collection prides itself on being all new with no repromos.

Its a shame we won't get any fun new products like paint pots or penultimate liners in colors.

Who knows what mac has up its sleeve for 09 though?
