Thanks for the birthday greeting Face2Mac!! I agree Lou. I'm going to order both Superdupernatural and Conjure Up MBs next week if it's still online.

yeah it's always best to wait a while.... that way i know i really want it! alot of the time i'll wait a week and not be bothered about getting a product so much anymore! although i get the feeling i will want cunjure up! i wore sdn today - looked fabulous! and a shimpagne arrived in the post so i used that as a highlighter with it and it looked awesome!

I've been trying to wait a little bit on my purchases too -until some of the initial excitement of a new collection dies down.

Nunu, I don't find MM to be overly purplish...it's more of a taupe-brown-purple. Darker and cooler in tone than Satin Taupe. It was one of the real standouts to me, personally. I think it is different from the ones you listed...You can probably skip It's a Miracle though.

I am eying up Mayhem....it looks like such a rich golden color with that buttery texture, but I am still on the fence...I have Amber Lights and Woodwinked. I don't know. What do you girls think of Mayhem? Is it a must?

I'm now tempted to get Shimpagne MSF!! Even thought it would be better if they released it by itself instead of paying $59.50USD to get one MSF, one MB, one MES and the 181SE brush. Although I will wait and will get it next week for sure!

^^ I have Shimpagne (dome slightly flattened but still lots of product left; in excellent condition), it's up for sale/swap. Interested? Just PM me, maybe we can work something out.

I keep thinking about SDN blush. Damnit, why must it cost so much, I really really want it.
ssad.gif

Oh and SDN blush goes really well with Blue Sorcery e/s (mixed with a bit of Devil May Care and It's A Miracle).

Nora, I really hate to enable, but I do have Parrot, but skipped Talent Pool, and my favourite tealish blue is now Blue Sorcery. It's just so smooth and perhaps not quite as bright of a blue as Parrot? Though I didn't do a side by side comparison. But every time I've used Parrot I haven't quite felt comfortable with it on my lids, but I adored Blue Sorcery.

I don't think any eyeshadow is a must have, but Mayhem is really pretty if you like those antique-y gold colours. It shows up more on my lids than Woodwinked, and it is definitely more of a brown gold than Amber Lights. I didn't even think of Amber Lights when I purchased it, but the comparison to Woodwinked did enter my mind.

I think I may cave and get Midnight Madness. Maybe I'll convince DH to get it for my birthday, since I'm on supposed to be on a no-buy!

^^ Blue Sorcery is AMAZING. I couldn't stop staring at it when I got my MA to put it on for me at the counter.

Seems like many people are on a no-buy right now. As for me, I'm on a restricted-buy, coz I can't bring myself to abstain from MAC completely.

I didn't want to get Unfer your spell but when i swatched it, it was beautiful..should i go for it??

I would appreciate any of your responses girls!

Face2mac did you get any of the eye palettes?

Nunu, it's interesting that you see MM as a purple shadow....it seems like even on makeupalley a lot of the reviewers made the comment that it's a nice purple shadow but truthfully I see no purple in it at all.
shockt.gif
Maybe it depends on your skin tone? The only colours I see in this shadow is mixture of dark brown, taupe & dark grey but of course that's only my opinion!
greengrin.gif
I think the important thing is for you to decide if you're very attracted to this shadow and if you see it as a unique colour. If you see enough resemblance between MM and a few eye shadows you own then I would recommend you to skip it because at the end of the day it doesn't matter if other people see MM as a unique shade if it's not unique in your eyes.
th_wink3.gif

I don't know if I would consider MM as the most beautiful shade out of the 3 you mentioned (what's a beautiful colour is very subjective so that's for you to decide
winkiss.gif
) but IMO it's the most unique shade out of the bunch.

i managed to get mine in the clearence bin here because i didn't want the other bits from the kit. it was below retail and the dome is only just begining to flattern so i was happy.

i bet it'd look even better on darker skin tones! it's the first highlighter that i've used that's not a pearly colour! but think it's great for peachy blushes

I loove Mayhem eyeshadow. Its so unlike any of the gold-toned eyeshadows I have! Its so pigmented and it swatches beautifully. Here it is vs other eyeshadows:

Hope this helps

Thank you for the input on Mayhem! I am definitely going to pick it on my next visit to Macy's. It looks really pretty - different than Woodwinked and so pigmented!!!

I initially only picked up Blue Sorcery an Midnight Madness, but I want Mayhem and Under Your Spell now....so pretty.
I have been a good girl, skipping the lippies AND the blushes....(although after all the raves for SDN and Conjure up, I'll be taking a closer look at those too!)

You're welcome.

Mayhem is a beautiful colour. After all the raves, I think I'll be checking out both blushes this time! I swatched them at the store when I bought Mayhem and they were both pigmented, but I only had my eyes on Mayhem.

But with all the raves, I just have to check both blushes out again!! xx

Your swatch of Mayhem looks great! I guess I have to check it out too.

Any idea how Mayhem compares with Gilt By Association though? That's the only MES I missed from the Style Black collection.

Well I went to check out this collection today. I set off thinking i would probably buy a facekit, one of the brush sets and possibly the lipstick/dazzleglass/lip pencil set. It just goes to show that you can't accurate judge things online as I completely changed my mind when i saw the collection in person & bought completely different things to what I would have even considered before seeing everything IRL
lol.gif

I looked at the facekit but decided that i would rather have the blushes in their full size variety than included in one of the sets, as it just looked fiddly to work with & i didn't think it was worth buying just for the pretty looking palette.
The lipstick/gloss set - looks LOVELY and i was almost tempted until i swatched the lipstick and it had hardly any colour payoff. The dazzleglass was lovely but when I swatched it next to Jingle Jangle, the colour pay off on the latter was much better.
The brushes set just didn't look as nicely 'finished' as i thought it would, the bristles looked cut a bit poorly & looked a bit sparse so i figured I would rather buy the proper full size varieties as and when I needed the particular brushes rather than buy the set now.
The rest of the pallettes etc, again i felt like the most tempting thing was the presentation, i.e. the pretty boxes and decided against them.

So.... moaning apart (and its all IMHO of course) what DID I like and what did I buy?

Well my fiance bought me peachykeen blush for xmas, so thats already put away for me, along with a tube of YSL faux cil mascara - so looking forward to trying that
th_worship.gif

Today, he added to my xmas presents by getting me:
• Superduper-natural mineral blush - this just looked beautiful when I swatched it.
• Speed dial lipstick - I know its not a holiday item but i'd been wanting this one for a while & it had so much better payoff than the dream lipstick in the lip set (i thought the payoff of that one was really dissapointing).

and I bought myself:
• Jingle Jangle dazzle glass - from the photos online I thought this was a really bright red l/g but its actually a lot less red than I thought and full of the prettiest sparkles. Much better colour payoff than the l/g in the lipset so I opted for this one instead. I think this will go nicely with my speed dial lipstick too.

A nice start to my mac collection
smiles.gif

Last week, my OH treated me to one of the new dazzleglass creme's "soft dazzle" and I've been wearing that today - its so pretty
heart.gif

Can't wait to play with my new goodies at xmas (along with the new wii we bought today - which should be fun over the holidays

).
