I used Moonlight Night in a smokey eye with Carbon and She Who Dares MES.

I don't think this collection is stellar (packaging aside), but there were some great individual pieces.

Got my goodies! I LOVE the packaging. I think I'm going to end up gettin a brush bag and lil Sir Teddy later on. Maybe a lipbag, if thier all still there
Here's my thoughts on what I got...
Rockers and Reelers Palette- This is one of my fav things that I got! Great pigmentation! The colors really go really well together. I know this is silly but I like how the palette sits up. I tried an eye with all the colors and loved it! Used TFC with it too and it looks awesome. I have brown eyes with a hint of gold, so the gold colors go really well with my eyes. The palettes are smaller than I thought they would be. But I think I'm just used to UD's eye-palettes. The bronze is going to be a great crease/outer V color.
Play It Cool Palette- OMG I am sooo very dissapointed in this palette! Chalky unpigmented mess. Took layers to get color. I even tried them wet with no luck. Like Modmom said the dark colors are more dark grey/black than purple! The purples are why I got this palette. Hold My Gaze is the only good color. I hope it get repromoted in the future cause it's an awesome color! I am so very frusterated with this palette.
censored.gif
Gone Romancin DGC- For some reason I thought it would be more purple. It's just pink on me, but a pretty color nontheless. Creamy and less sticky than other MAC glosses n d/g's. I like that these give a different affect than reg dazzleglasses.
Courting Lilac Lipstick- Very simular to Aristo-Cat on me. I put both on my lips next to each other and can barely tell the difference. Which is ok with me, cause Aristo-Cat is one of my fav lipsticks. I was expecting for it to be more...lilac lol but it's still a nice color. Gone Romancin looks great over it... The fiance liked it

The Family Crest & Moonlight Night are the stars of this collection! Sparkly smokey goodness!

Only thing was they seemed kinda low. Looks like it got spilled or something. I miss the old piggy packaging!

The Family Crest isn't like any other color Ive seen! So freakin gorgeous!!! I dont see much of the purple, but hopefully it will come through a lil with a purple base
Moonlight Night- I almost passed on this! SO glad I didnt. The teal shimmer in this is stunning! Cant wait to try it over my Turquoise Aqua Cream from MUFE!
I afree with what Laylalovesmac said..."I don't think this collection is stellar (packaging aside), but there were some great individual pieces."
I really need some info...I really want to send back Play It Cool. Can I return it even if I obviously used some of the product? I dont see anything about exchanges either on the paper.

I went to my MAC counter to check out a few items that interest me....

My Highland Honey - Looked nice in the pan but the colour doesn't show up on me even after 3 heavy swatches. This will probably look best with those with fair complexion.

Black Swan - I have Black Russian which I don't like that much (don't like that the sparkles are not that apparent on my eyes) so I was iffy about BS. It swatched more like a dark blue on me so that confirmed my decision to pass.

Undercurrent - Very unique and pretty! I don't really like teal on myself but I'm going to get this.

Blackline - Remind me of Gilt By Association and I quite like this one.

Glamora Castle - Very buttery and while this is not a dark grey, it's very pigmented. I wouldn't consider this a unique colour but I think it's a good grey to have.

Courting Lilac - Pretty but not my kind of shade.

Cut A Caper - The brightness of this lipstick in the tube turned me off initially. I like it best when it's lightly applied otherwise it can look bright when it's opaque. I have Ever Hip & Jazzed, while they're definitely different I don't think I like this lipstick enough to want to buy it.

The Faerie Glen - I can see myself loving this lipstick for everyday wear! It's nude but it's a natural looking nude. I don't have any lipstick in this colour family and will pick this up.

Later - This swatched like a dark indigo purple on me....I thought it would look darker and more black.

Moonlight Night - I like the swatch I've seen online better. In person it was lighter than I would have liked.

Family Crest - The purple hue was quite prominent in person, not the lovely dark bronzey colour I've seen online so I've decided against it.

I'll only end up buying Undercurrent, TFG and possibly Black Line.

I can't believe all that I am hearing lately about the PIC palette.

I'll just have to wait and see for when I get to swatch it.

So everyone on here thinks the brushes in the brush bags are pretty good quality? My eyes are pretty sensitive so the scratchy brushes would be a no-go. I just cant resist one of those bags! I want one SO bad! Esp since PIC is such a huge letdown

I fell in love with Blessedly Rich and Budding Romance. I was so sad to find out they were part of the mineralized kit. I haven't been keeping up with the collections at all so I had no idea.

Right before the launch I was hearing alot of talk about this palette and was concerned that I'd picked the WRONG one.....when I went to the store and actually did an eye look with it, I really LIKED it. I was concerned with PURPLE for daytime, but because it doesn't have the deep pigmentation, I find that it looks BETTER for an everyday look. I am glad I got it!!

I did swap out the Semi-Precious for pigment, mainly because it was SO DARK and more Red than Purple.....I looked as if I'd been punched in the eyes, which is really NOT an attractive look......

What are your thoughts on Twists of Tartan? Are the colours as poorly pigmented as Temptalias review say?

Temptalia is not the only person who commented on the chalkiness/pigmentation of this quad. I believe Karlasugar mentioned it too. Yes the colors were really chalky, especially Vainglorious and the matte blue color, I wasn't impressed with the way the forest green color swatched as well (in short I'm just talking about the e/s on the bottom row). I don't think the light green is poorly pigmented though. The nicest color in the palette (in terms of texture and consistency) is probably the antiqued gold color.

I am not feeling this collection at all.
th_dunno.gif

Part of it's the packaging -- I'm not a fan of Tartan thanks to too many years of ugly red plaid uniforms as a kid
th_LMAO.gif
-- but nothing is yelling "must have" at me like, say, TTB or SCF.

OK, the pigments are, but I can't remember the last time I just bought two items from a MAC collection! (I already have Later.)

I'm slowly being converted to Chanel, so maybe this is a good thing.... This way my wallet doesn't kill me!

Whoever asked about returning the palette, I don't think you should have a problem!
smiles.gif
You might be better of swapping or selling though, just so that someone who does really love the palette can get to use it!
smiles.gif

I'm off to get TFC today, and I'll swatch the others if they're still available - I'm still a pigment newbie so I'm not too sure how often I'll use these colours, but it could be the start of a fabulous love affair!
