I don't have Fashion Groupie but when I was testing both shadows out in store they were VERY SIMILAR. So much so that I felt if I get FG I would basically have the exact same shade in different textures. SD is a tad bit cooler than FG but the difference is so minor so unless you're thinking of getting FG for the supreme texture alone..imo you don't need it. If you're hoping the colour to be different than SD which is what you already own please don't get it...I think you'll be disappointed.
I have SD and I remember the colour payoff to be mediocre (I find the shadow to be quite hard so it usually takes me several applications to get the payoff I want) so I've been debating if I should get FG as well. I think what truly helped me decide against getting FG is not the fact that the colour is so similar to SD but because I would usually use a colour like SD & FG in the crease/outer v and only want to work with shadows that are long lasting. My personal experience with the starflash eye shadows is that yes they're buttery smooth but I believe for that very reason, they haven't deliver extremely good lasting power for me. So I much rather go through the hassle of having to apply SD several times than to have easy application with FG and then having the colour fade half way through the day. Mind you I only own 5 starflash shadows from this collection so maybe the lasting power varies between them but Smoke & Diamonds is the only one out of the bunch that doesn't budge.
Btw, I depotted my starflash shadows yesterday and I don't know if I ever want to go through it again!
The glue they used seems very different than what's used for other shadows. It's yellow.....extremely sticky, extremely difficult to get off and they use a lot more glue for these shadows.
Usually it takes me 2 Q-tips dab with alcohol to get the glue off the pan but for these guys, it took me between 4-6 Q-tips for each of the shadow.
