MAC - Love that Look Discussion

i think it has more to do with "limited edition hype" than production cost though. seems to me whenever mac makes a something new that cost more to produce, they'll increase the price (eg: dazzleglass vs regular lipglass, the annual coutour collection)

so many us are buying so many of these eyeshadows because they are LE. they do have a lovely texture, but if the starflash finish is permanent, a lot of us would just wait til we "have the funds" to buy them. since mac has a new collection coming out every other week, most of us will forget about it quickly and most of the time we don't even look at the permanent range (besides trying to find dupes and buying things we already had before). so that's probably also why mac has been making a lot of things permanent then discontinuing them a few months later (like a lot of matte2 eyeshadows, slimshines, and paintpots)

speaking of DCing things, i'm pissed that mac is discontinueing so many matte2, fluidlines, paintpots, and cremestick lipliners. these are all the things i love. i want them to make new ones, not discontinue more

Sleepyhead, I am only speaking from the Mfg side..that is my experience ...I know which items are more difficult and costly to produce...I can't of course speak for MAC's side...But I know that items that fly off the shelves are the ones all clients want to make as perm sellers if it is cost efficient to do so....it's better to make money all year long than one time only...they have $$$ #'s to meet

Not just a nick on the top, but the front edge of her nail got in about 1/4 of an inch. I lost a good chunk of product from it. So mad at her still, she never even apologized for it.

Ok, I caved and just ordered the rest of the e/s that I was missing from this collection. I got Ego and due to some enabling I also got Rated R, Glamour Check, and Unbasic White. I'm hoping I'll get a lot of use out of Unbasic White. It's the only one that I was iffy about since it seems to bright to use as a highlight or on the lid. Then again I've never used a white e/s before so I should probably shut up until I get the chance to play around with it. Thanks to all the enablers!

I've done that too. It looks terrible in my palette, but what can we do?

They fill the empty spaces with dupes, usually something form the permanent line... so disappointing when you go a few weeks later to look and get excited that the LE is still in stock when it isn't!

Do you do that as well?

I loooove Glamour Check. I got Smoke and Diamonds too but I don't know how well it will work for me. I have very fair skin and auburn hair. Hmmmm.

ETAS: I am so, so, SO in love with this formula and I'm so sad these shades are LE.

Fashion isn't horrible, but very similar to Silverthorn. So if you have Silverthorn, you won't need Fashion.

Rated R is lovely, I was afraid of it at first, but it is really wearable with S&D or GC in the crease!

no. no one's supposed to do that anymore. because the displayers are for LE items, when they sell out we have "sold out" stickers that are supposed to be put on there. that's because its too confusing to customers when they see one and we'd be like, yeah that one is a normal colour that we always have, but this one is LE, this one is LE, and that one is permanent.

the only colours that are supposed to be on a displayer are the ones in that collection only.

In all the years I've been shopping at MAC, I don't think I've ever seen a "Sold out" sticker.

I know what they're trying to do, they're saying, well, we don't have that LE peach-pink shadow but we do have something very similar you may like...
