I just got back from a local store. Only got a few things in store, since the Canadian prices are through the roof. Everything else I ordered online - EXCEPT Avenue, which was sold out by the time I got home. Maybe I'll try and get it locally here. Otherwise, I'll keep an eye out for the website to be restocked, since it's pretty unlikely any of the fluidlines will be around by the time I get back to the States.
What I got:
Runaway Red l/s: yes, yes, yes, yesssss! This is one of the most perfect red lipsticks I've encountered for my coloring and I'm EXTREMELY picky about reds - more so than any other color. The wrong red ages me 10 years instantly along with making my skin look sickly and dull, while the right red (so hard to find for me) looks better than just about any other color. For NC15 with green eyes and black hair, the blue balance in RR is perfect and so is the brightness - any darker and it still wouldn't have worked. I wouldn't have minded it being just a hair brighter - this is definitely a fall red, as opposed to a year-round red - but that can be remedied with gloss for spring and summer. Meanwhile the satin texture gives just the perfect amount of matte and sheen. It's not as thick as some other satins, like Toxic Tale, which makes it exceptionally versatile - i can easily blot it down to a smooth, even stain, keep it somewhat neutral or layer it on thickly for a retro look. I've passed up red after red for years, but this one is getting backed up and I feel like I don't need to look at another red lipstick unless something super metallic comes down the pike. Also, after wearing it for hours, I'm happy to say it's not drying, and my lips were a bit chapped when I applied it - so, good sign.
Prince Noir: OK, maybe I didn't need this color. I've got others, such as Hipness, that are very similar shades. The thing that made me get it anyways was this is a really fantastically textured matte. Smooth, creamy, but 100% matte and flat. No shimmer, sparkle or frost - just MATTE. And yet, not heavy or showing up lip imperfections. 'Had to get it. Smoked Purple appeared to have the same nice texture, by the way, but I can resist it since Potent Fig is going to own my soul as far as super dark purples go. Some people are going to look better in Smoked Purple than in Prince Noir, though, but I was happy PN isn't overly brownish when applied.
Equillibrium: Mac-Guy, I know you were wondering who was going to get this. I AM! I've really been wanting a moderate brown blush. Pressed Amber M/B was just super drab and bleh on me, as you may recall. I thought I was going to need to wait for something that was more of a brown pink or brown plum, but surprise! Equilibrium reads only just a touch warm on me and not even remotely orange - not a whisper of it. Lovely satin finish and perfect pigment density - i could use one swipe without looking like a clown or having to blend down and having a perfect level of color. VERY easy to work with, which is obviously something a pale person needs with a brown blush. I'm wearing it across my cheek contour with a touch on the apples, applied over Careblend bronzer and some Semi-Precious Pearl MSF for highlight - OMG LOVE IT. Looks phenomenal with Runaway Red - which just goes to show that both of these products are perfectly balanced for NC15 and for each other, since let's face it, you can't always wear a brown blush with a red lip. COMBO OF GREAT JUSTICE!
I was also impressed with the fluidlines - only picked up Dark Envy, though I'd like to get Avenue as well. I'm not a huge Fluidline person - i usually prefer smudgier liner, but these colors were particularly nice. Soft and not hard-edged, while providing a really obvious color and noticeable shimmer/sheen on the lid. I'd say these are marks of a real sweet spot for a gel liner for middle aged eyelids (one of the reasons I'm usually not a huge gel liner person - just looks too hard on heavy lidded eyes a lot of the time). The blue one was more opaque than Siahi, but close enough that I wasn't going to sweat it. However, I felt like there was enough difference between Dark Envy and Ivy to make it worthwhile. Ivy is definitely a more "Pop", comic book color compared to Dark Envy, which reads as a rich shimmering forest green on me. My eyes are green enough that many greens really detract from their color, rather than enhance, so considering Dark Envy does work and combine that with how well Dark Indulgence MES also works on me, I figured I'd get all my forest green needs taken care of right here and now. I still think Avenue is probably the most versatile choice out of all of them - I will probably go back and get it tomorrow somewhere locally, even though I'm paying the Canadian premium on it. I skipped Dark Diversion last time, since I had plenty of Raven Eye Kohl at the time. I'm still a little hmm about it, even though it's an excellent color for me. I don't know why I'm so on the fence - I usually adore burgundy/plum liners. A little bird is telling me I may break down and get it anyhow.
I'll be back with more musings in a bit.
