I've been checking for restocks and, as I see you ladies already know, they restocked some of this collection, so I was able to order Close Contact, which I didn't even think I would be interested in until I swatched it at the store, and by then they were sold out. Also threw in a few other things I've been wanting (another mineralize lippie since there's question as to whether or not they're being discontinued, a dazzleglass I've been eyeing, a VG 1 lippie, another 217 brush because I love it dearly...so much for saving the MAC gift card I got for xmas for the spring collection!!) I just got a little...well, maybe a medium sized...black box yesterday too. It was mostly replenishing my everyday products, but there were 3 or 4 other items in there too. Hopefully DH won't be bothered by black box deja vu!!

Yes, I believe it was limited. Not sure if mac will bring it back or not. IMO it's perfect for highlighting and picks up the right amount product for me.

It is a LE brush, but it looks like it's getting repromoted (based on the promo pics) with A Fantasy of Flowers this spring. At least I think it looks like a MAC 131? I could be wrong.

I think that's my issue with skunk brushes like the 188, they weren't dense enough for me. I like the sound of this 159. And I am loving the 128 so far. That concentrated placement of highlight with a dense brush is what I was looking for. I wanted it to go where I wanted it to go, then be able to blend it out. It's perfect. I think that's why my highlight wasn't looking the way I wanted it to look, it was the brush I was using. I love it when a plan comes together.

Girl you have sold me on the 159. I'm going to MAC this weekend anyway, so I'll check this brush out while I'm there.

Yeah, I'm fair, so the 188 works great for thinning out blush, but I don't wear foundation all the time and don't tend to swirl-buff if I can help it, so as soon as I got into highlighters, I was on the lookout for brushes that gave me what I needed. I remember using a highlighter with my 188 and pinching the brush head together before I applied it because it just wasn't putting it on the way I wanted.

128 is great and when it comes to EDSFs, it's going to totally apply them in the most concentrated way. I love the 159, but it's good you're going to check it out first. I'd say it's a little better match with MSFs than EDSFs, unless you want to tone down your EDSFs just a smidge or if you like to spray on Fix+ on top of EDSFs but aren't looking for maximum metallic. If someone didn't have 128 or 159, I'd say hands down 159, but if you already have 128, you may not need 159 (again, unless you use sparkly MSFs and MBs a lot). Maybe bring a problem child MSF and/or EDSF along with you to the store to see if the 159 gives you more or less of what you want with them! Also, do NOT forget to check out those Masterclass brushes. The small oval might give you even more pinpoint accuracy and intensity and the large oval applies and buffs in one stroke like a champion! 'Might be a little large for a highlight, though - it's crazy good with formerly sparkly blushes.

It's really amazing what using the right brush does on the face!!! I'd spent years using tons of different brushes and palette knives when I was painting with oils, but for my face I basically had one brush for my cheeks, one or two for my eyes, one for the lips and a fluffy powder poof. When I stepped up to good quality makeup brushes, it was a real revelation. MAC is always talked about for their colors, but when you think about it, they really go forward with different brush designs too, year after year. Some of them are like brushes from other sources and some of them are really unique, but they all are very well designed to go with MAC products.

I went back and took a look at the promo photo and just based on the size of it next to a 187, I'm pretty sure that's a 159, not a 131. 131's black part is longer and the whole brush shape is more elongated. It's like a flat paddle.

They seriously should bring back that 131, though. Maybe one year along with some new bronzers!

Looking at the 159, I agree that is probably the brush, thanks for the correction!

At Dusk is great because it's just the most gentle hint of color - very foolproof and natural for pale skin. I've got so many darn blushes, it isn't even funny, but At Dusk is one of 2 or 3 main ones that get used all the time. I've never backed up a blush in my life, but I'm considering it for At Dusk. Autoerotique is beautiful if you want a blush that can go very subtle or stronger, depending on your mood and/or if you already have some HG subtle, simple natural blushes you swear by. FP is going to be warmer on you than Superb, but it's also a little less metallic, so that might balance it out. 

Wow, At Dusk in your top 3 blushes? I'm sold! I don't have any soft, natural looking blushes. Actually I don't have any from MAC yet if you can believe it! Most of mine are from Tarte and Nars. I feel pretty comfortable skipping Fairly Precious now. I love how Superb looked on me despite the MAC MUA going a little overboard in the application. To be fair it can be easy to over do it when you're working on pasty white skin lol. Also, I couldn't help but see you discussing the 128 and 159 brushes - which would you recommend most for using with both the EDSF and powder blushes? Which is more precise? Thanks for all the help!

Yeah it's way up there for me for subtle blushes for a particular reason. I've got sort of peach fuzzy cheeks, so a lot of pale standard powder blushes can get powdery on me and accentuate the fuzz. At Dusk doesn't do this AT ALL, which I adore. It's so natural, including the lovely skin-like sheen to the finish.

I think you'll love it!

I never use my 128 for blush, but I do sometimes grab the 159 for blush, but I wouldn't say it's the best blush brush, because it's not a good shape to do circular motions on the apples of the cheeks. It's ok if you mostly just sweep back in a line or have really tiny cheek apples and just pat a dab on them. If you want a single brush to work for highlight AND blush, you're probably better off with the 116 or maybe 129 - they're small enough to do precise placement, they're flexible so you can use lots of different motions (sweeps, swirls, pats) and they will pick up plenty of product…they're classic brush workhorses.

Also wondering if I should pick up sweet heat, mostly because I think it will be gorgeous with my coloring in the summer months! So hard to resist!

I sprayed a brush with fix+ before using Sweet Heat and IMMEDIATELY regretted it- i made a dent in the shadow and didn't pick anything up. (silly- don't know what made me do this!) Immediately after, I used my finger and was able to get so much color onto my lid!

Oh my dear god Liba It's physical is amazingly gorgoes. Had too BU. I just recieved mine today. I did like it when isaw others showing pics but in reality it is amazing. It is perfect for my armani eyes to kill no. 30 rose popilia .

I'm still contemplating getting Silver Dawn! I didn't swatch it in store on purpose and now I'm still thinking about it! Also -what are people using to apply the eyeshadows?! I sprayed a brush with fix+ before using Sweet Heat and IMMEDIATELY regretted it- i made a dent in the shadow and didn't pick anything up. (silly- don't know what made me do this!) Immediately after, I used my finger and was able to get so much color onto my lid!

I was playing with these tonight and found that my softest brushes didn't pick up much pigment. These eyeshadows basically laughed at my softest ones. I tried an older Armani brush, which are very stiff and designed to work with their hard shadows, and it did a pretty good job. Another random dense, stiff eye brush did a good job as well, but the wooden part is failing and I know it won't last me much longer.

Is there any reason to spring for the split fibre eye brush that is sold with the MN collection?

I was debating about getting the 128 brush and now the mention of the 159 I don't know which one to go with. I only own 1 EDSF and about 8 MSF which one would you go with ?? YAY!!!

I'm glad you got it - it is so so gorgeous! If there had been a law saying I could only buy one thing in this collection, it would have been It's Physical for sure. Combining it with Eyes to Kill is going to be incredible! I remember ogling that one, but I usually don't even let myself go near Armani. The two are really related though - you've gotta post a picture sometime of your creation!

I find myself pinching the top of my 187 when highlighting my check bones.. I love the brush but it seems to large for top cheekbone application. I was debating about getting the 128 brush and now the mention of the 159 I don't know which one to go with. I only own 1 EDSF and about 8 MSF which one would you go with ?? Or should I just get the 188 ?

3 questions:

#1) Do you also use cream highlighters a lot? Then go for the 128.

#2) Do you wish your MSFs were MORE intense or more buffed in and less glittery? More intense, go for 128, more buffed, go for 159.

#3) Do you usually swirl your highlight in along the cheekbone or would you rather do a pat-then-sweep? Swirl, go for 188, sweep, go for 159.

Also 188 if you're also looking for a blush brush too and don't mind if your highlight is less intense. If you want intensity, you'll have more work using the 188 and less work using the 128 or 159.

i can't get ANF &SD out of my mind. I want them, but keep thinking of the price and how MAC charges the same when they're in the bigger size. So I don't wanna give in!

I mistakenly thought I ordered MA but I didn't. I kept going back and forth on it and placed an order and when I opened my box it wasn't there. Then I remembered I took it out of my cart. I was looking forward to trying it out, so I was disappointed. I'm still undecided on it.

I swatched MA and while I thought it looked pretty good, it didn't have that same metallic glow all the other EDSF's have..

Oh no, I don't think you need fix plus with these beauties. I've used my 239 brush so far. It's pretty dense and picked up my SD just fine. I now know I need sweet heat added to my stash. Glad to hear others are really enjoying what they've purchased.
