This is really not my collection overall, with my coloring, but Port Red is just gorgeous. It looks fabulous with She-Gold over it too! To me, as compared to Queens Sin, Port Red is not as formal/dressy. I wore it to Trader Joe's after leaving Macys!

My MA said she was excited to meet her first "regular" (I warned her she would be seeing alot of me) and she said she reads Specktra!

Wow, you got Buoy o Buoy & Port Red! I'm glad you still like Shore Leave after seeing it. i'm really glad I got that too after reading all the reviews.

I'm trying to love this collection and pick up some must haves but nothing really stands out to me. I keep hearing good things about Shore Leave (VP!!!) so as long as its not similar to Ricepaper I'll get it

if you have to compare shore leave to a perm shadow, its closest to all that glitters.

I think Port Red will look gorgeous on you! I'm an NC42 and it is a stunning shade on darker skintones.

I couldn't agree more! Those were actually my first thoughts when I saw it--a nice primary blue. Submarine has little to no hints of green or teal or turquoise, but has just a faint amount of blueish shimmer ot give it dimension. I love this color!

And I really love Mutiny!! The best way for me to describe it is like when you have a white base and put a wash of sky blue touched with green/turquoise over it. There is this bright, glowy quality without being to in-your-face or overpowering other colors.

Bell-Bottom Blue reminds me of Naval Blue/Bluestorm, but when I compared them, they are definately different. To me, it looks like they start out the with the same base of a navy-ish blue, but somewhere along the line, Naval Blue had some violet thrown in there and some reddish/purpleish pearl. Bell-Bottom Blue stays more in the blues spectrum and has a whitish pearl to it.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I put Love Knot, Port Red and Mutiny Pig on hold at my local FS.

Love Knot looks SOOOO hot...Krasevayadancer's FOTD totally sold it for me!

Port Red looks really pretty but I have Queen's Sin and Barcelona Red which I think if combined could result in Port Red, but ughh I can't resist hot red lippie!

And Mutiny pig looks so pretty in all the swatches. I saw it IRL and it looks even more beautiful but seriously though...what am I going to do with a whole jar of pigment!?

Does anyone know how Pandamonium compares to Knight Divine? I'm debating between the two but I'm leaning more towards KD because it seems to have better payoff.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I thought I was going to come out with just 3 jars of Mutiny p/m but that didn't happen now did it. :\

Here is my review:

I didn't buy the entire collection, in fact I came out quite picky but still ended up spending $125 US. Not too bad? lol

Lustreglasses: I didn't try any of them because initially, I wasn't into them as I have over 50 lipglasses that are probably similar to all the lustreglasses. So I stayed away because they are dupable.

Shadows:

The only one I bought is Illegal Cargo and I am so glad I did. Its such a pretty lavender color and way different than Neutral Pink.

Submarine is pretty but its a frost so that was an immediate red light for me. Oh and it is NOT a dupe of Freshwater at all. They are both very different. I actually found that Blue Storm e/s is its dupe. So check that out.

Shore Leave is really pretty but I have too many neutrals as it is and I didn't find the need for it. Once its on the face, they all look the same really.

Pandemonium - I have the quad so this was an obvious no for me. It is pretty though.

Meet The Fleet - I hated this one the most. There are like 5 dupes of this color and in better texture. A no-no on this one as well. Nehru, Naval come close to this as well as others.

Lipsticks:

Buoy-O-Buoy is a pretty nude but it looks like HugMe so I passed this one up.

Party Mate is gorgeous but I have way too many pinks that I decided to skip this one as well.

Ahoy There! I know I said I have a lot of pinks just like 2 seconds ago but I had to buy this one since my MA put this on me during the makeover and topped it off with Comet Blue dazzleglass. It was a sure winner in everyones books. I had customers watching me from the aisle asking me what she used. It was hysterical. lol

Port Red- is really gorgeous! It has a bit of shimmer in it and its nothing like the reds I own so I had to get this one as well. There were a few MAs that were wearing it and it looked beautiful! Could you imagine topping it off with She Gold! Omgahhhhhhhhhhh *orgasm*

Pigments:

Mutiny- Do I really need to say anything about this pigment? I could probably write a thesis paper of 31 pages with this pigment. Its gorgeous and a must have - enough said. lol

Bell Bottom Blue - It reminds me of Emerald Green, not by color but by texture and how the lil crystals give off this sparkle like im E.G. p/m. I wasn't going to buy this one but I am such a blue fanatic so I had to have it. It really pretty with Mutiny as well.

Lark About - I didn't buy this one as it didn't appeal to me in the jar. But my MA gave me a sample to take home so maybe if I play around with it, I'll like it. I don't know, it doesn't tickle my tuna.

Lovely Lily - Reminds me of a washed out Pinked Mauve. It didn't even show up on me. :\ So of course this was a no. Oh and it looks like Illegal Cargo in a jar. But I prefer the shadow form. lol

Smooth Blue Technakohl liner is gorgeous but it is dupable. Enough said.

Nail Lacquers were both beautiful especially the red one but I love OPI and this red can be duped.

HTHs everyone! =)

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

So i caved in(as usual) and spent money I do not have. I got Love Knot because despite the fact that I own a million lipglosses and lippies I cannot turn down a bluish pink gloss. I also got Ensign which I know I did not need but oh well. Then after all my babbling about how I was not going to get Port Red because I usually wear cooler reds, I went and bought the color anyway! They are all soooo pretty.

MY FIRST REACTION TO MY PIGMENTS

Now, I managed to get a hold of the three pigments. I have no MAC here so I have to get things sight unseen and depend upon everyone else's perceptions and descriptions as well as photos.

I have to say that my first reaction to these pigments is upset.

These pigments are all rehashes of older pigments.

MUTINY
is nothing more than Azreal Blue with a tiny touch of clear sky blue in it. It looks so much alike on my hand it is almost impossible to tell them apart unless you look REALLY close and believe me, I am a color fanatic. If there was a good difference, I would say so.

LARK ABOUT
This is nothing more than a finer milled version of Frozen White. This COULD come in handy for a more subdued highlight were Frozen White just is too shiny, but the quality of Lark About is not quite as nice, I don't think. This is probably the only color I can see me getting a little use out of.

BELL BOTTOM BLUE
This is just cornflower blue with a touch of blue storm in it and a few white reflects thrown in. On my hand the BBB is so close to the Cornflower that if it were not for the touch more of pink in cornflower, they would look almost identical.

I am very disappointed in these colors being SO close to what is already out there (and I have)that I am on the verge of ignoring MAC for a while.

I know that this does not agree with what many of you have been saying and I am sorry, but I just have to call it like it is for me. I know that some of you are happy and I am really glad you are.

I have no MAC to return these too, so I have to weigh if the postage is worth the effort to return.

LOVE KNOT
A warm bazooka sheer pink with violet blue shimmer- LK is very sheer but still gives a ghost of color to the lips. I love the blue shimmer. It is a bit tackier than lipglasses have been of late, but it is pretty nice.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

Ok, so I hauled today and switched up a few things... I didn't get Ensign (yet). I wanted a bunch of Dazzleglasses, and my MA said they would go before the l/g so I will go back for it later. I did end up getting Meet the Fleet and Submarine in addition to Shore Leave and Illegal Cargo. I saw one of the MAs with a BEAUTIFUL combo using MTF and I was sold. She said it wasn't bad to blend at all. And then, I got all of the pigments minus Lovely Lily. I really thought I was going to pass on alot of the collection, but once I saw it worn in the artists today, I just couldn't pass it up. In addition to those things, I got 4 Dazzleglasses, but I will post about them in the DG thread

I can't wait to play with my new goodies! I already have an early bedtime planned for the kiddos so I can dig in!

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I just got back from the MAC store which was to my suprise very empty.
This is what I thought...

Mutiny : I was going to pass on Mutiny, because I thought the texture would be crappy but when I swatched it I fell in love right away!! It's different than azreal blue. Its like a nice aqua-blue color. Not light sky blue, but aqua-blue. I don't really know how else to explain it. It is frosty and texture isn't bad at all, even thought azreal blue is still smoother.

Lovely lily : Nice smooth pretty lilac pigment just how I remember it. Not chunky at all!

Bell Bottom Blue : The texture of this sucked to me. It was the type of texture that would fall off easily, and I didn't like the white glitters in it.

Lark about: Chunky, boring pigment.

Port Red looked like a very nice metallic red but was deeper in color than I expected. When I think "tomato red" I think bright red but it wasn't like that.
Love knot was also very nice and subtle - the blue in it wasn't too much. I might go back and get a back-up of this!!

Shore Leave & Illegal Cargo both had very nice texture but shore leave reminded me of nylon, and IC just didn't look pretty to me. Illegal cargo & Lovely lilly are completely different.

Submarine: It's texture didn't live up to my expectations at all as far as eye-shadows go. In my opinion, it is not a dupe for freshwater at all!! Freshwater's texture is devine but submarine's isn't. The color is different aswell.

Overall, I am very happy from the things I got from this collection!

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I only picked up 4 things from this collection... Mutiny, Shore Leave, Illegal Cargo and Pandamonium.

Mutiny is gorgeous, looks a little teal in the jar but goes on as a shimmery sky blue. The gold pearl isn't very obvious unless you pack it on / use it wet.

Shore Leave is a shimmery cream with gold iridescence, I can see myself using this a lot as a highlighting colour since it goes well with my yellow toned Asian skin.

Illegal Cargo is a pretty subdued grey lavender, has pretty good colour payoff on me and can be either a wash or a crease colour for me.

Pandamonium surprised me in terms of its colour payoff, really pigmented, although not as smooth as Knight Divine. I wasn't into MAC when it was released in the quad, and I really love this one.

Now waiting for the rest of the summer releases!!!!
