MAC - New View Discussion

I'm light medium in my regular MSFN & i was at the mall yesterday & the MA showed me the new view ones & used one as a contour on me but she used the Dark...does this sound right? it looked fine in the store but i was looking on the MAC site & i probably could have used med. dark?

i'm just wondering if i should take it back & see if the med. dark would be better..the dark looked kind of orange in the pan..maybe it's just me

i just dont want to have wasted 26 something

EDIT: I think maybe i'm using the wrong brush..when she did it in the store it looked amazing & not orange at all..but when i do it it doesnt look the same..maybe i'm doing it too heavily & with the wrong brush..she was using the 168 i think

^I still would have gone Medium Dark to contor. Darks a bit dark unless you use a every light hand.

I can sadly say I am disappointed with this. I got Medium, but I just hate the highlight. I thought it looked so pretty, but there are so many better highlighters out there.

when you first start using the MSFN, its a bit hard to get the color on your brush, so you gotta keep swiping your brush into it. after about a week of daily use, the brush picks up more product.

these aren't supposed to be use to contour. they're meant for the natural side to match your skin color and either set foundation or to be used alone all over the face. the shimmer side is meant to highlight the cheekbone or browbone. if you want to contour/highlight, go with the sculpt and shape powders available at mac pro.

Would it be silly of me to buy the 189 simply because I think it's a pretty brush?

lol

MAC has me doing crazy things.

you can use it for any and all powders, blushcreme or CCB. you don't wanna use it for liquid or cream foundations tho because it is so dense, alot of product would build up in the brush. you'd waste product and may have some difficulty getting all the foundation out of the brush.

i would most definately recommend the light/medium. did you order it online? if so, once it arrives, fill out the exchange form and send it back.

I did order it online... I just ordered it tonight. I sent them an e-mail shortly after and I will call them in the morning. I hope I catch them before they ship it!

Thank you so much for your help!

I'm a newbie here and really appreciate it.

This is one of the new mineralized products I knew I wanted. I bought the deep dark duo. I REALLY like it!

I use the natural side for contouring my cheeks and I love the effect. It's warm and really natural and soft. I am very impressed. Now on to the shimmery part - I love that too! It is such a pretty orangey/gold/peachy color. I thought it would be similar to Gold Deposit but it's not; it's way more peachy. It's very pretty applied with a light hand on top of the cheek bone.

I also really, really like it as a shadow. The MA at the counter actually gave me that idea. I could really use this all over my face for a sexy summery, bronzed look. When I walked in the house my mother was telling me a story and stopped to say, "your makeup looks really nice" and then continued on.

The only downside is that my duo is like 2/3 natural and 1/3 shimmer. I wish it was more of a 1/2 and 1/2 ratio because I really do love the shimmery side and can see myself using it a lot.

I did not want to like them, but I tried them. And I do like the glittery part.

The thing is I already have a MSFN. Could I get a darker colour and use it as a bronzer? Would that work?
If not, can I get the glittery part alone?
yes.gif

these aren't meant to be used as bronzer. they are a face powder (used alone or over foundation) and highlight duo. you can't get the shimmer side separate.

if you want to get it, set aside the MSFN you're using now, and use this duo together. then, when you run out, go back to the one you already have.

yes, i would definitely change it to light med! A MA recommended medium to me (i'm NW15) and i took it home & it's wayy too dark, makes my face a whole diff color then my neck (not cute!) lol. i took it back for light med which i love (& the highlight color on this one is better too, more goldy)

you could get a darker one & use it as a contour/highlight duo which I've heard it's realllly pretty for. I'd do that too if I didn't already have a sculpt & shape & could justify spending another $26.50 lol

IMO though if you already have a MSFN then you don't need this in your normal color... unless you think a 1/3 of highlight is worth $26.50

Thanks. I am using the MSFN in light and the colours from New View look to be all darker?
I will check them again the next time I am in the MAC store.

That's what I thought. And I do not really tan in the face that much to justify another one a bit darker for summer.

What would you contour with it?

they left out light when they made these. they start at light medium, which might be a touch too dark for you, but would work if you get a little bit of sun this summer.

these aren't for hightlighting/contouring either. the shimmer side is great for highlighting on its own, but is too shimmery for highlighting along with contouring.

Thank you!!

I called customer service this morning and they got it all changed to the light med. I can't wait to try this. Is the shimmer really shimmery and noticeable?

Thanks, next time I am in the store I will see if light medium is too dark for me. I have some tan, but not a lot (does not suit me).
The shimmery side sure is tempting....
