yeah, it's noticeable in a good way though, you can use it as a face highlight over a blush and it's really pretty... it's noticeable but still subtle if that makes sense.

What would you contour with it?

use the 168 or 169 brush & get a color that's about 2 shades darker then your natural one & use the natural side to contour and the highlight side to highlight.

So, to contour or not to contour with these MSFNs? I tried the Sculpt and Shape product for contouring and it broke me out anywhere I layed it down...on my cheeks, jawline, etc. I hoped to buy some shades from this collection because I love the contouring effect. Is this a better product for it or should I consider something else?

Did any of you have a similar experience with Sculpt and Shape? Are there ladies who currently use MSFN for contouring that prefer this powder? Thanks in advance for your insights.

as i stated 5 posts ago, the shimmer side is too shimmery for highlighting when contouring. highlighting alone with it is fine tho. if sculpt and shape powders broke you out, then go with a contour and highlight color using blush. these aren't made for highlighting/contouring.

I completely disagree. Although MAC may not have designed them to highlight and contour they can certainly be used that way. When I went to the counter and expressed my interest in the deep dark the MA said it would be great to contour and highlight, which was exactly what I was thinking. My actual complexion falls somewhere in between Medium Dark and Dark so Deep Dark is a soft contour that looks perfect. I was very happy with the result. I use my 109 brush to apply the highlight lightly and just buff it in so I haven't found it to be too shimmery.

I agree aziajs,

My MA herself bought one of these with the sole purpose of using them for contouring and highlighting, since both her and I have too light of a skin tone to use them for all over powder.

i didn't say you couldn't use them for it. all i said was that they weren't made for that purpose and that there are better products out there for contouring/highlighting.

you can use blush as a shadow, or shadow as a blush, but they weren't made for that purpose.

Quick question. Is Medium PLUS the next darker color after Medium? (Silly question). I find Medium a tad too light for me. I know Medium Plus isn't included but I'm thinking about ordering a full MSFN.

Yes. Medium Plus is between Medium and Medium Dark.

I really like the yellow gold shimmer side of the DARK combo. However, I am an NC 20/25 and I don't have a use for the MSFN side of Dark (thought it was too orange-y for a countour too).

Does anyone know if there is a MSF out there that looks like the shimmer from the Dark combo? It's only been a year since I became crazy about MAC so I don't have any MSFs. =(

If anyone has any suggestions for a dupe, I'd be grateful! Thanks!

I'm an nc15 and light/medium is perfect for my skintone - the shimmer is subtly, but really gorgeous, and the natural side matches exactly.

I got mine today and it is perfect! I'm really happy with it. Which brush works best to apply it? I was thinking about picking up the new one..

I'm really happy with it.. the shimmer is really nice and it doesn't look like I'm covered in shimmer.

I use my beloved 182 brush to apply the natural side, and the new 181se for the shimmer. The round shape of the 181 makes it perfect for blending in the shimmer.

I'm glad it's not just me who is having trouble getting product on the brush, I was worried I'd ended up with a dodgy one!

I'm still playing with brushes to figure out which of the ones I own will work best (I don't own any MAC brushes). The natural haired powder brush I have doesn't seem to grab the product, but the synthetic kabuki I own grabs the powder and wont let it go so I don't get any product transfer onto my face! I'm going to leave it a while and see if things improve after a week, as pointed out by erine1881, if they don't it could just be my cheap brushes being naff.

I'm starting to think I should just go and get the 189

I don't know if this question was asked or not but I wanted to get a msf and use the 187 to apply it with fix+
so my question is, can the msf be used wet?
if i spray fix+ on the brush and then dip it into the product, will it get ruined?

thanks

Very interesting question. I have always been told that you CANNOT use the MSF naturals wet but that you can use the traditional shimmery MSFs wet. Now, seeing as this is half and half I wonder. Do you use one side wet and not the other?
