So I definitely think I'm going to try to get these lipsticks on Mac's website or the Mac counter and just return the ones from Macy's whenever they come. They aren't even supposed to be shipped till next week, I'd rather get whatever I can from Mac and just use Macy's as a security blanket.

Please don't return them. They get thrown in the trash. It's such a waste!

Well if you can't sell them, or don't like them , or gift them of course you have no choice but to return them.
True, but she was talking about buying the same thing from another retailer and returning the original purchase to macys. Not returning it cuz it didn't work out. Different situation.
So if I were to return it in store they'd throw it away?
It would go thru the return process first, and then be thrown away, yes. If something honestly doesn't work out, returns are completely fine. But to order the same product from a different store just to turn around and return the first purchase makes no sense.

All returns get damaged out, shipped out, and trashed. It's for sanitary reasons. Even if it's not used, you can't guarantee someone didn't sneeze on it, lick it, or who knows what else!n
Not for nothing... but that is just crazy to me that they would do that for even lippies that have not been touched. If that is the case then why is it that they have a display of lipsticks for women to try on along with a bottle/glass of alcohol for them to dip/spray on the lipstick before they try it on?? They should at least descreatly have the lippies that are seemingly untouched in a separate location and give customers the option to buy with detailed info of its current status. Maybe too much to go through but at least its not just trashing it and giving someone a chance to have it if they really want it.

It's the same as underwear, hygiene reasons .. Doesn't matter if they were never open they get thrown out, the store I work at is final sale on underwear, also earrings..someone can say they never touched them but we can't guarantee that and be reliable .. Food as well, if it left store, we don't know what happened to it so it gets thrown out.. Sealed or not

I agree, but returns need to be accounted for, as well as testers. Mac allots a certain % of their sales for testers, and they need to be logged separately. If they go over that allotment, they can't make testers. Plus, you can't run a tester thru the system on an item that's already been damaged out as a return, and you can't sell an item (the return) to a customer that's been logged as a return, as it's already been removed from your inventory. If you return the item, it's damaged out as a return, showing -1 item. Then if you were to sell the item or tester it out, cuz you'd have to show where it went (cuz it wouldn't be in the return bin with the return slip) you'd then be less the sold (or testered) item. Now you're -2 items total. Now your inventory is all messed up! And you can't just give a customer the item. You have to run stuff thru, so it has to be trashed. And again, just cuz it looks unused doesn't mean it's sanitary.
