Re: MAC - Venomous Villains discussion
I saw this collection today and absolutely loved it! I was very picky with my list because money is tight right now. My MA was like, "Who are you?"...lol. Anyway, I reserved: Wicked Ways l/g, Toxic Tale l/s, Strange Potion l/g, Bite of An Apple Blush, She Who Dares m/e, Revenge is Sweet l/g, and Cajun Magical Cooling Powder.
My favorites are: Wicked Ways, Bite of An Apple, She Who Dares, and Revenge is Sweet. IMO, RiS looks nothing like Sweet Strawberry (which I love and have a back-up of). If more funds become available, I WILL be backing up RiS. I have Violetta already and I feel this is the perfect l/g to tone it down a bit or to wear alone. I really like Heartless but I have to be honest w/ myself and I am more of a l/g person than l/s. Plus, I have Ruby Woo, Cockney, and another red l/s that I rarely wear. Bite of An Apple is absolutely gorgeous and a MUST have! She Who Dares is
and I feel good getting this since I passed on Blue Flame last year. The pink/purple is nice but I feel it is redundant to my collection as I already have Young Punk and Later p/g. I also wish MAC had done maybe a Red/purple or Orange/Purple because the pink/purple are nearly indistinguishable.
The Cooling Powders surprised me because they are shimmery. I don't see how these can be used as a finishing powder. Truth and Light was too light for my complexion, but I probably could have used it as a eyebrow highlight or cheek highlight. I didn't get that because the shimmer was like champagne/green and looked just like my Universal Mix Pigment on my hand. Cajun was also too light for my NC45 complexion to use as a finishing powder but I do think it wall make a nice, natural highlight.
Now...the funny part. I don't know if I should be worried about the Cooling Powders or think of it as a fluke. While I was talking to my MA, one of the other MAs poured out some of the Cooling Powders to use to highlight and contour her face. As soon as she placed the brush with Cajun on her face to contour, the powder erased her full face of makeup.
It was totally splotchy...she said it was Studio Tech and I don't know about the wear time of ST, but she was totally pissed as she had to redo her foundation. I guess I will take solace in the fact that I rarely wear a full face of makeup.
Lastly, for those going to parties/unveilings, I suggest you have your "definite" list ready to go as soon as you hit the door and only play around/swatch your maybe's. The hype surrounding this is insane and it doesn't help that MAC seems to have sent email invites to almost any and every customer in an area that ever bought MAC online. My Dillard's counter already pre-sold a lot of things and were already sold out of all of the nail polishes. I will pick up Bad Fairy when I go to the unveiling, which is at my freestanding store.
Sorry so long and HTH!
