Re: MAC - Venomous Villains discussion
I've got some free time, so I figured I write my review and experience. Prepare for a really, really, *really* long post.
So, I got to the counter at probably 10 past 10, and there were, eh, maybe three or four people checking out the collection. And to anyone that said it looked like play makeup, there was a little three year old going crazy for all of the characters and swatching everything. It was pretty cute.
When I got there, they were already sold out of a few things. But, it was stuff I didn't really expect to go so soon. I think Hot House was gone, along with Her Alter Image. So, I got to swatching while my mother (who wanted to accompany me) got color matched for the new prolongwear foundation. This isn't really the right thread, but I will say it is a great foundation! Looks completely natural, decent coverage, and there's a nice glow to it.
After she was matched, the MA asked if she could get me anything and I said I had pre-ordered and she said that I was really smart to do so because stuff was already selling out. I had her pull Greengrease and ring that up (yay!) and I walked away with the fourteen items I had planned on. I didn't swatch everything, but I swatched a few things I was on the fence about.
Now for the review section.
Bad Fairy: Really glad this is the polish I chose. I haven't done a full manicure yet, but I did swatch it when I got home, and it is amazing. I find it looks really bronze-golden in the sun, but totally pinky-raspberry in the shade. It's SO cool! And the formula is really good. If you get the chance, I would pick this one up. I don't even like light colors on my nails, but this is perfect!
French Quarter: Out of all of my items, this is probably the least exciting, but I still love it! It is a really nice brown-taupe kind of shade, and the glitter is awesome! It doesn't look like much, but under Vainglorious... perfect!
Vainglorious: This is leans a lot more brown than I thought. But, still very pretty. The formula is meh when swatched, but I think it'll be much better with a brush. And like I said, it looks awesome with FQ as a base.
Strange Potion: I'm so glad Shontay convinced me to pick this one up! (winkiss) Personally, I hated Pink Lemonade, just because it didn't do what I wanted. But, SP has this slight iridescence that I adore and IMO, leans pinker than Pink Lemonade. I haven't tried it on my lips yet, but this is gonna be a great color to rock on its own.
Toxic Tale: Scary!!!
jk, jk. In the tube, it does look kind of frightening for a NW15 like myself, but swatched, it's perfect!
It is a bold coral, but leans more pink on me. Don't be afraid of this one!!!
It is surprisingly wearable sheered out.
And I swatched
Toxic Tale + Strange Potion on my hand, and I'm agreeing with Shontay. I don't think it looks bad, but it really doesn't add anything. I think they're both opaque enough that they don't need to be paired.
Dark Deed: This was the dark purple-berry I was looking for!!! Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!! Kiss was right about the vampire feeding lips!! Haven't tried it, but it's exactly what I envision when I think vampire. And, pale beauties- get it! I think anyone can rock this.
Wrong Spell: I know, I know- everyone said skip. But, I couldn't resist. It is definitely a dark brown, but it has this incredible purple-burgundy sparkle that looks amazing in a sheer coat.
Also, the packaging is bomb.
Heartless: In a nutshell, perfect red. Doesn't lean pink or orange, perfect undertones, just... perfect.
Wicked Ways: I believe it was liba who said this was pure sex, and right you were, girlie! It does go slightly fuchsia, but totally looks like the luscious cherry that I wanted. Also, you don't have to put it over Heartless, it is that opaque. Cannot gush enough about this one!
Bite of an Apple: I am *so* intimidated by this one in the pot. But, once you get it on, it is the perfect Snow White cheek. I'll be using this one this winter, but sparingly! I'd back it up if I could. I stepped out of my comfort zone on this one, but I'm glad I did.
She Who Dares: I already posted this earlier, but I was blown away with Greengrease + the green side of She Who Dares. My MA pulled one with a pretty big green side for me, and I am so glad she did. Those two = mermaid. That's all I think of, and it's indescribable. The blue side is nice too, but that green...
My Dark Magic: I'm not even going to gush about this one. Dark purple + black + glitter? 'Nuff said.
Briar Rose: Maybe I'm the only one that adores this compact, but I do- I love it. This is just an amazing shade of pink. This will be the perfect cool pink blush. It kind of reminds me of a cool Barbie pink. I didn't think I would love this one this much. Gorgeous pink!
Oh So Fair: The compact for this one is so-so, IMO. I like it, but it should be on the blush. Apple? Hello? I'm getting off track... This is the perfect blush for pale skin!!! I may even use this all over very lightly. I can't say enough about this one. It's leans more coral than I would have expected, but it absolutely perfect.
Overall, this collection was perfect for me! Great products for purple lovers and fair skin, and I love everything I got!
Now that I have written a small novel (sorry!
) I'm gonna stop this post.
PS: I swatched Innocence, Beware! next to Myth, and Myth was just one shade lighter, but pretty much exact same undertones. I'll just B2M for Myth in a few weeks.
But it is a great lipstick shade.
