Kaia, I understand what you are saying. Next time someone does that to you remind them that it's your money and you can spend it when you want, however you want and if that means buying MAC everyday, that's your business. I hate going to the counter myself. It does not help that the nearest one is in another state over an hour away. There is one young lady there that I really don't like and she always seem to be there when I go. Never has she ever been helpful just looks at you as if it's too much for her to answer a question or even say hello. I like to take my time and look at everything because I never know when I'm going to be back. I really like to order on-line because I can do it at anytime of day, I don't pay taxes on my purchase, and I always order enough for free shipping if I don't have a code. If I go to the counter, it's just to look and try things out. I have not been at one since before Christmas and even then I only purchased a gloss.

That was very rude of her. It's none of their business how much you have and if you come back a lot. They should be happy you come around!

I prefer online, since I hate being ignored. The downtown Nordstrom counter is very rude, and the mall south of me has hired a bunch of 12 year olds who don't care. I now take 2-3 buses and about an hour and a half on the bus to get to the MAC store. SO much more worth it. A couple of the MAs ignore me, but someone else is always there to help.

That was really uncalled for.God some SAs..serious attitude problems.I've never had one be that rude to me but by no means do they trip over themselves to help whenever I go to my local counter.I go in once a week sometimes twice and I know some of them must be thinking 'weren't you just in here' but ya know what I don't care and neither should they. They should welcome any business they get.Grrrr...

The way you were treated is absolutely abhorrent. If I were you, I'd either a) contact the manager and explain the situation and/or b)contact MAC through the website. The feedback should make it back to the employee either way.
I prefer to buy from a store or counter, and I'm lucky living in south florida that they're everywhere- My local freestanding in the Gardens mall is about 10 minutes away, and they've always been absolute dolls to me. However, my experience at counters hasn't been totally wonderful, but usually I only go to counters if I need to spend a gift card or my freestanding is sold out.
I really like to swatch things and see the product before I buy, so I'd only buy something online after I'd seen it in the store or a number of swatches.

I have to go to the MAC counter myself. I don't trust how color shades appear online, plus they can look dramatically different on your own skintone, so in person color sampling is a must for me. I haven't had any issues with any MAC MUs during my frequent visits. They've always been quite friendly and I always tell them that I'm doing fine and will ask for their help when I need it, so I can be left alone without being pressured by them to buy certain items. I think I give off a "don't bother me; I can think for myself" kind of vibe, haha. But when I do go to them for help, they can give the best advice.

I pretty much only buy online because I hate crowds, and my MAC counter is always crowded. Also I get guilted too easily into buying more than I need. As for the shipping costs, I usually place one large order every so often instead of lots of little ones, so I get the free shipping.

well I guess they don't want your money. I buy my makeup at macys because a friend of mine works there and I like to give him the comission. Screw them!! Can you go somewere else?
Sorry that the lady was a bitch

I really do either. Sometimes if I can't wait until I can get to the store I'll just buy online. I don't feel as bad returning online either. Then again, I do like to go to the store because then I can actually see things and try them, thus cutting down on those returns. Sometimes if the counter is really busy I'll check the stuff out, note what I want and then order online. Sometimes the counter/store is just a hassle!

I buy most of my makeup at the counter. Pictures don't do much for me. I only buy online when that brand is not available in my area.

I love going to my freestanding store...the MAs are all so sweet, some of them know me by name! I've never bought off of the website, come to think of it...

I've only met two genuinely nice friendly MAs and only one of them worked the freestanding. :[ I've received decent service at the freestanding, but never as good as the time I dropped by Saks. The MA called up Nordies to check if they still had Maidenchant, asked her to hold it over there for me, and even called Nordies when she'd forgotten to ring me up for something I'd asked for.

The other MA at the freestanding hugged me

put me in the system under Kim A. so I'd be easy to find since I have a veryy common name, and always helped me when she could.

Other than that, I'd say they've been either "just okay" or terrible.

So if I knew what I wanted to buy ie knew 100% how it would look & I had a free shipping code, then I would buy off the site. If I want to check out a collection, I go to the store, since it's not that far and I sometimes sympathize with people who come off as mean or snobby.

Omg, I thought I was the only one with this problem! I once came in for just a blush palette. Then I picked up three pans. So when I was supposed to spend $12-14, I spent $60 >_< Good thing I had just gotten paid.

First off, that MA was totally out of line.

I prefer to buy from free standing stores versus counters. I find that counters get so busy that sometimes the MA's get really pushy and dont really focus on what they are doing too much. The freestanding store that I go to, the MA's are so attentive. When im just buying a replacement product, I'll go to the counter. But when I want to try something new, I much rather go to the free standing store.

Counter as the colors suck online. And at the counter, I will only buy from a couple of MAs (one being the manager). Don't think you can stick your nose down at me and I am going to seek your approval by giving you my business. I would not expect one of my customers to do that.

I shop online because I don't want to drive 90 minutes to the nearest MAC store. However, I have always managed to get free shipping through promos, otherwise, I probably wouldn't.

If I had the choice, I would probably go in to a store because I like seeing the shades in person. I went to a f/s store for the first time yesterday and there were about 6 employees and they were all so nice. One of them showed me the Ballonacy collection, and though she couldn't sell anything to me yet, after seeing it, I knew what colors I wanted to order. The m/a's at the Seattle Nordstrom were just lovely as well. I was a bit nervous about going to the f/s store after reading comments on Spectra about rude salespeople, but was delighted I had a very positive experience.

I think you should complain to MAC about the experience you had. Buying MAC should be enjoyable, not something that's going to ruin your day. Especially if you're giving them your hard-earned money!

I don't know why some MAs dislike repeat/regular customers. I love them! It's fun seeing them often (they're usually really nice people...I say usually because I have had some really "out there" regulars), and they're always game to try something new...instead of criticizing them, they should embrace them!!!

I buy eyeshadows and blushes at the counter, but for foundations, powders, and brushes I prefer to buy online. I find the MA's at my counter will tell you what type of foundation to buy and won't listen if you want to try something new.

we should come up with a card or bracelet to wear or something that means we are serious MAC addicts and that we are frequent buyers and sometimes need attention or be left alone to test products.. pitch this idea to the MAC company.. so the counters know when they see us! also that they should be extra nice to us, because we take everything about MAC seriously and they could possibly be reported.... who's for this idea? or is this the case for people that actually have the MAC pro card?
