Mean, I know, I'm sorry but I just gotta complain

First of all I have nothing but respect for the armed services. SO PLEASE NO ONE GET ME WRONG.

As you all know I've been writing to 30 marines. All 30 of them have been the sweetest, most respectful men in the world. I mean they know I have a DH and they have talked with him and sent my daughter stuff and talked with me and just a great bunch of guys. I mean they have called me and truely the kind of guy you would want to bring home to momma.

So they tell me about their marine buddies and pretty soon I'm writing to about 100-200 marines. No biggie right?

Well since my original 30 are coming home I got reassigned to write to some army folks. So I sent an e-mail out to them and I got the rudest most obnoxious jerks I ever met. I mean talk about a culture shock! The first e-mails I got were "So got any naked pics?" and I told them already I had a DH!
I mean NO! SO THEN I got some guy to IM me and I answered and he said, " Thank God someone young wrote us all we get are letters from old people who have nothing better to do with their lives". OH MY GOD! What an ungreatful little prick!

SO I just got furious and asked to be reassigned to some more marines. I talked to the MSgt of my original Marine group and he was really upset too and he even called me up and said that those guys were so out of line.

Then I got reassigned to some marines and I'm not sure what to expect but the first e-mails I got were thank you so much for writing to us we love it when we hear from folks etc. And I mean wow. Just the difference.

I hate to say it but every person in the Army I've ever met has been a jerk. I mean seriously. I have yet to meet someone in the US Army who hasn't been arrogant or jerks or whatever. Every Marine I've met has always been so sweet and patient and respectful and greatful.

I guess some people just get attached to certain branches of the US Military. For me its marines.

I had hoped I would love the army as much but

I hate to generalize cuz I know there are good and bad in every organization but dang.

Wow. That is a little rude of them. I guess in light of their circumstances, it's probably best to be understanding but even still. That is pretty disrespectful, especially when you don't have to do what you're doing. Then what outside contact would they have? Hopefully your new batch of folks is better.

mmm i have found many jerky cocky marines out there as well. guys are guys... they are gonna be like that if its in them. the armed forces has been known to "change" people but thats not always the case...

my boyfriends twin brother is a marine and i must say, the only changes ive noticed in him is the fact that he is a little more outgoing... but he is still the same guy as before... the same guy who flirts all the time and instigates things to laugh at people... etc etc... and honestly he'd probably ask the same questions as the other army guys you talked to... i think guys will be guys... i mean a lot of these guys are young anyway... guys join when they are 18!!

yes the join when they are 18 thats nothing unusual. I think i'm more pissed off that the fact that the marines i've talked to were younger 18-24 and they still were more respectful then the army.

again im not bashing the army im just baffled. I've never once had a good experience with anyone in the army. Not just this time but before. Never! I mean I know boys will be boys (believe im the biggest advocate of that just ask my best friend who was throwing a fit because her 20 year old brother was caught looking at porn) but im just more dissappointed than anything.

I mean even with my marines oh yeah they will instigate stuff all the time but the line that should never be crossed is never crossed with them.

I think thats why im so upset. You probably do just have certain brances of the military people just relate to more than others and mine and DH's happens to be the USMC.

Jasper, we actually (we being DH, I, my marines) actually had the same discussion and they are in fallujah right now and and even with me playing devils advocate (which I always am good at) to try to justify wasting my time writing these guys anymore we just couldn't.

I hope these new guys will be better too. They are Navy Medics hanging out with marines. I've never had a bad experience with the navy either so lets hope my nautical folks will be a'ight

I'll keep you updated.

yeah I gotta agree with lah_knee...Ive dated a bunch of servicemen and the marines "jarheads" are the worst...

Its sad but there are stereotypes about the military, and most of em are true. While you get the exceptional few that dont fit the stereotype alot do. They think that people owe them something for where they are...what they are fighting for..While we do, they go about it all the wrong way.

My sister is married to an army (retired) sgt. Hes like the nicest guy on earth. Some of his buddies arent though.

Generally army/navy/airforce/mariness dont get along with each other either...which is a little retarded I mean hell they're all fighting for the same thing. But you give a little bit of cockiness to an already cocky guy and they blow it out of the water.

I mean the uniform holds its own hype right there. Ive got a uniform fetish and I know about 50 different women and men that do as well. So they think wearing that makes their d*ck swingin so much better...Its kinda funny if you look at it in perspective.

Ive got nothin but love for my military friends and family...but an asshole is an asshole regardless of the uniform :p

Hopefully your next troops will be better, I stopped subscribing to the lets do the email thing cause all I ever hear is "got a naked pic"?

So I still try to take care of the ones Im with, and occasionally will deal with some new ones.

They dont look at it as us taking time from our lives for them, I mean I personally feel we owe our troops a lot, but I dont owe anyone more than a piece of my heart.

Definately keep us updated. Im curious to see how it turns out with the navmeds

This actually sounds interesting. I didn't know you could write the men in service while they were in Iraq. You do this by email? How do they check it and reply? I didn't even think they had time for that while they were there in Iraq. Or the resources.

It's good to write to someone, though, even if you do encounter a few jerks. A lot of soldiers in this war have been reported as having suicidal tendencies and mental health problems, especially when they come back to America. Flashbacks and whatnot. A few words can really mean a lot to someone and give them a little hope.

Oh, and I've got that uniform fetish BAD, lol.

You know I'm not jumping all over lah knee im just irritated as hell basically at the army men not her.

They really do have a competition and im serious marines really do think they are "THE SERVICE" the Msgt once told me that if you wanted some pretty boy for a poster call the airforce or the army and that the army usually gets in the way of the marines and once the army is out of the way and lets the marines do their job then life goes by so much quicker. Again thats ONLY WHAT THE MSGT TOLD ME!

SO there is competition. Maybe its because my personality. I'm very domineering and its my way or the highway and i want it taken care of yesterday and the marines are like that.

I just can't believe that guy said that about other people sending them stuff. I mean I seriously just wanted to ask him if it really was that bad psychologically that his d*ck was no bigger than a freaking thumbtack. But that would have been horrible.

Thanks for understanding. I know I'm sounding like a nut case more than anything I may have just gotton a really amazing group.

I SHOULDNT HAVE BEEN SPOILED MY FIRST GO ROUND!
smiles.gif

Yes I already wrote the Msgt of the army and told him I wasnt sending his boys nuthin because the people who have no lives can waste their lives sending them stuff, i was going to find some group that cared that I have a life outside of the military.

Again thanks for letting me bitch. I needed too.

just to add stuff

Raquel,
YES! you can actually e-mail them. They do have power out there and internet hookup. It's not nearly as good as ours is but its there.

You know the media never gives them credit for what all they have done but they have the resources to do almost anything. The media always focus' on the bad but they have running water, electricity, TV's, DVD's the works. The people over there have electricity (from what MSGT told me) and clean water and its hard because everyone there is so poor because all the money went to Suddam Hussains sons. So its really amazing!!!

They also do have cellular telephones and can make phone calls. The phone service is up and running.

From what MSgt says everything is not nearly as bad-most of the Iraqis love them being there and the kids adore them. They are so appreciative and everything. Its just astonishing some of the stuff he's sent to me
smiles.gif

Oh yeah the uniform makes me melt all the time too. Just dont tell DH though I think he knows :p

That stinks. DH is a Navy man, but he's a Seabee and mostly works with the Marines rather than the Navy...anyway, I guess every branch has their jerks, it just sucks that you had to get a higher dose of the Army's this time around. I think what you're doing is great, and I hope you get re-assigned to a group that is more appreciative!

edited to add that I, too, have a serious uniform fetish. I mean, Damn. Those Navy dress blues are effing hot.

Yup, all I see on the news is desert and people living in villages. Meanwhile, there are some pretty nice places there that will never get shown on tv, lest they ruin the image of a destitute country for you. I was born in Bahdad, and my relatives there in northern Iraq sent a video of where they lived and their everyday life, and I was shocked. They live in these beautiful big houses, almost like mansions. Got tv, electricity, running water, etc.

I got the image of people living in mudhuts with buckets to go get water from the well running in my mind, lol.

Ok, not to sound dumb or anything, but what or who is DH? I can't figure it out and it's killing me!!

Oh, and just to keep on topic...one of my very good friends is in the army, and although he CAN be a jerk at times, he is one of the sweetest most caring guys I know. I guess you just have to take what those army guys you came in contact with with a grain of salt, some are just lonely/bored etc. and figure that if they try enough times, maybe someone will send them a naughty picture. I don't know, I agree with everyone else, boys will be boys...but I admire the way you handled it, I know I would have just gone off and let them know how to talk to people and appreciate what they try to do for them just like we appreciate them for being out there and doing what they are doing...does that make sense? I don't know, just my two cents...

Raquel-
hahahaha! Its OK i thought that too. I admit it. I had a friend who went to Russia of all places and I've never been to russia and all i heard about was one big city (st petersburg) and then Siberia and I was expecting this place full of snow and ice and thats it with people all poor running around with no shoes and torn clothing and nothing to keep them warm yeah that didnt happen. LOL The picture was like, oh wow they look....well healthy and wow. lol so hey at least we're in the same boat together.

Thats so cool you were born in baghdad!

lmao! It's weird how places are portrayed SO differently than what they actually are. That's the media controlling us.

What is DH?

Also, do you write to them just because you want to or is there a reason? How did you get into doing that?

I used to talk to some guy in the air force or something I think. He had a computer even with a webcam and we would talk like that. That was in my short period of single time so we had fun little conversations, but I think he's gone crazy since then.

oh i didnt think you were jumping all over me... i just wanted to bring up the point that regardless of what branch guys are in, if they are jerks it doesnt matter.
the marines has been known to be more harsh and can whip up guys into shape and teach them respect... but not all guys bend into that. overall, we just gotta have compassion for these young people who are overseas... if they are being disrespectful then dont write to those people... ignore them.
