NARS Holiday 2011

thanks for letting me know -- i had basically counted murale out because they never seem to have the new collections right away...but that's good to hear in any case, i can't get to the store before next week...we're on holiday in vermont! it's such a nice feeling to be away...

hopefully they'll still have bit's of the collection floating around later...i was also hoping to check out ponderosa and joyous. i know christine mentioned that ponderosa had bad wear time on her, but i just really like that colour a lot!

It's weird, because sometimes Murale is really late getting things, some things (Estee Lauder summer) they don't get at all but other times, they get things way ahead of everyone else. I have found that with Nars in particular, they seem to get things early, but it's hard to guess. Weirdest thing right now: They don't have the Guerlain holiday collection, but the Pharmaprix (the company that owns Murale, for those I've lost) across the hall has had it for a couple of weeks.

I would imagine that they'll have things kicking around for quite a while, if not there then at The Bay. I don't think I've ever seen a Nars item sell out.

And if you like Ponderosa, you should absolutely get it. Using a good primer or setting it with shadow or a translucent powder should alleviate any creasing concerns. I know that Christine had a lot of issues with the "Celebrate" shadow pencil, but I can get it to work on me pretty well. Everyone's different.

i've had similar experience with murale and pharmaprix...i will try murale when i get back, and if not i guess the bay--there is one close to my parents' place that seems to keep their mac stock a bit longer than others, so maybe it'll be similar for the nars?! the only nars item i've seen sell out was the train bleu lip pencil....

actually, i refuse to buy things from pharmaprix because i find their return policy annoying and horrendous...and i find they seem to hire people who aren't particularly helpful or well informed, just interested in making a sale. (just my experience) considering they have the same management, it's surprising, but i prefer shopping at murale.

i will definitely get ponderosa, and check out the duo at the same time!

btw, i enjoyed your blog post with the nars duo...!

FYI, the Murale store at Place Ville Marie has this collection out. I haven't seen it anywhere else yet.
katred - so i went to Murale and checked out the collection at last!

in the ended up with ponderosa and joyous. i could probably have also picked up g-spot and sin, but i thought i should hold back a little! wait till next week or something.... ;)
did you know they're having a special event on dec. 1? apparently mua's from all the different brands will be there, you can get your makeup done, and they enter you in some kind of prize draw....and there's also some sort of points thing, which i didn't entirely understand...anyway, costs $20, which you can then redeem on the day....

Getting that amazing flower eyeshadow palette for my mother for christmas...and picking up the multiple for myself.

I cannot believe I'm going to pay Australian prices for these, but they are so beautiful!!

I didn't know that, thanks for the heads' up! I'll make sure to pass by. I actually find that the staff there is generally really nice. I don't think the store gets too much traffic, though. It's funny, because with no Sephora downtown, they should be really busy (although having The Bay nearby is a drain).

yes, i do find that bizarre about the low traffic...people seem too busy in pvm running between st.catharine's and gare centrale...
i kind of wonder if people find it slightly intimidating, all the white space and that....i really like the concept of the murale stores though, and i prefer it to sephora for shopping in anyway (except that there are fewer brands i suppose). somehow i find sephora a bit too overwhelming!
also, when it comes to deciding where to buy brands like nars, which are carried at murale, sephora and the bay, i tend to choose murale for the opticlub points! the possibility to redeem for anything is so awesome....!
anyway, i sound like a paid advert.....

I had an appointment a few days ago at the NARS counter at John Lewis on Oxford Street in London with some girlfriends, where one of the regular artists did skin/foundation/etc, then they had a special artist in for the event who did the color portion... I think his name was Federiko? Anyway, he was lovely and did a really gorgeous look using Mandchourie but he did something I never would've thought to do and used Ponderosa as a base first, then put the darker blue shade through the outer V and under the lid, then the lighter color kind of all over. Not the best quality of pictures, but if any of you have both products definitely try them together!

That's gorgeous on you!

Funny... I used Ponderosa as a base today. Although it's a 'cream' shadow, it's very dry and doesn't move. It's an excellent base for deepening or warming up powder shadow colors.

I loved the pic, I can't wait til they bring the new products to my sephora corner (they're always so late to bring the new stuff...It will be summer when we get the winter products I'm afraid!)
