Palettes vs Pots: Round 1 *Ding*Ding*

Re: Palates v Pots: Round 1 *Ding*Ding*

I used to love having my e/s in their original pots, but as I bought more, they took up alot of space and transfered them to the 15-pan palettes and now I love it. And yes, the e/s dust does annoy me sometimes.

Have you applied a magnetic strip on the back of the e/s?

i've always liked my pots because i have few to remind me that pigment samples are cheaper, haha. but yeah, i would definetly prefer the palettes to the pots if i ever get around to buying one!

They already have a magnet at the bottom?

They do require care when travelling. Then all your dust goes everywhere and one or more shadows can break. But when that happens, you break out the time and some iso alcohol to fix. Anyways, tiny bubble wrap and squishy styrofoam is cheap to put inside.

Buy 6 and get 1 free? Please explain.

The Back to Mac Program - bring in 6 empties, you get a lipstick, gloss, or free eyeshadow.

I prefer to keep them in their original pots (especially when they are LE). I have a 15 pan & a 4 pan, but their something I dislike about the MAC palettes
1. they seem cheap
2. the inside part of the slots (metal), well the paint chips off than you see silver metal *I'll post a pic of this next week

When the quads start to look beat up, I B2M them, but the 15 pan.....I can't do it.

I like the ease of the palettes. they allow me to see all the colors and create better color combos
And it doesn't hurt that it takes up less space

I kinda want to paint my quads like some people paint their computers - but feel like it'd be a waste of time and money.

And a sign of some wear and tear is a good thing to those who know what it means - you work A LOT!

definitely palettes. they're much easier to store and i like having all the colors in front of me instead of opening the pots to look at the colors...i feel like i come up with more combinations that way.

Palettes all the way! I keep all my MAC in 15-pans. I keep a couple empty 4-pans for travel. I also depot all my LE's.

ive never had access to the palletes and that doesnt really bother me, i like the pots. i think the 'dust' would get on my nerves anyway

and i cant even imagine how i would organize the colors, so it doesnt bother me just keeping them in pots.

maybe some day i will try it.

I prefer pots for everyday colors like carbon that I wanna carry with me. the 15 palettes would be too big... but if it's a color I rarely use I prefer pan, just for the price...

The 15 palettes scare me. What if I drop it...there goes like 100 dollars worth of eyeshadow. I can understand the conveinces for an MUA but I just a avid MAC user.

I love the palettes, 15 for all my shadows and 4 quad for my everyday take along colors and it's much cheaper to just buy the pro pan shadows to fill your palettes. For me the shadows are much cheaper than the pots and also it's more organized and gives me sooo much room in my traincase. Also, the plastic pots after depotting can go to B2M for something else.

I prefer the palettes. I am an "out of sight out of mind" type of person, so being able to see all of the shadows all at once really helps.

Definitely palettes for me. I live in a small space and palettes make things so much easier. The only pots I have are my Aquavert and my 2 Barbie e/s.

I read everyone's post to this question and I believe you all have good reasons as to why you use pots or palettes. As for me, I only own 1 quad and everything else is a pot. I not only purchase MAC, but I also have Bobbi Brown, Urban Decay, Stila, and Trish McEvoy eyeshadows. I don't like the quad because I don't use all four of the colors and it seems like such a waste. I don't like the palette that my Trish eyeshadows are in because of the dust that always seems to get on the other colors due most in part to me digging my brush in to get enough color to make a difference. Bobbi Brown does not have a palette like MAC and Stila so those shadows have to stay in the pots. The nearest free standing to me is over four hours away in another state and I hate to order things from the 800 pro number because shipping is so much. I have never Back to Mac because by the time I have finished enough products to get a free eyeshadow, I have thrown the other containers out and I only own about three lipsticks because I am a gloss girl and once again, don't have a free standing near me withing a reasonable distance, to get anything but an eyeshadow. Yes they take up a lot of room but so does my shoes, handbags, and lots of other things I buy. If it ever really becomes a problem, I can always get a bigger place with more storage. With that said, my shadows in my train case sit flat so I can always see the colors and the ones in my desk organizer are still in the box so I can see the names when I look down on them. I do my makeup in my office most days and it's so much easier to just throw the three or four eyeshadows I need for the day in my makeup bag, which is not very big, and go. I love the pots, I am a pot person and don't want to ever use a palette.

I'm partial to palettes. I can see my colors and make unusual color combinations much easier. i love being able to change and swap out the colors that I bring along with me in a quad palette. I also have very limited space so, the more compact, the better.
