Points of hue

I love the look of the new colours but swapped away my only shadestick (Royal Hue) because it didn't seem to be applying so well on me. I'm regretting it; though it meant wiping s/s off my wishlist, but perhaps I should give them another go?

Anyone have any good application tips re. shadesticks? Or am I just a lost cause? :p If I am, it'll be better for my wallet, heh heh.

I had my makeup done by a MAC MA the other day (sort of doing the Pam Viva Glam look) and she was using the MangoMix shadestick.

I hadn't had much success applying the only one I had (Taupographic) so I asked her about it and really paid attention to the way she did it.

Basically, she applied the s/s directly to the lid with short firm strokes (you may find it easier to pull skin more taut). She then blended it with a 242 brush. That's it! Of course, various e/s colours were used with it but the finished product was beautiful! (So of course I bought the Mangomix and 242 - which I can't believe I didn't have already!)

Hope that helps.

Can we see a pic of the shadestick on your skin?

I just finished a swatch/pic comparison on paper. I finally have all 20!!

I just picked up my first two and I agree, OUCHIE!!

It really pulled at the skin. I hated it. I am used to Clinique Touch Base for a cream shadow so this was a bit of a shock.

I actually like that the shades are similar, because that makes them even better as bases, because they can intensify the colors. :p Corn + Goldmine really makes the color pop out. I haven't tried Blurberry with Cranberry yet, but it looks soooo good with Coppering on top of it.

Some people just can't use shadesticks, especially those like my mom, who has crepe paper type lids. They just got streaky and they pulled on her lids big time. In these case, I'd recommend just using a paint or concealer as a base. Anything emollient should work.

For application all over the lid, I just put the shadestick on my finger (colour it on) and use my finger to blend the colour onto my eyelid. It seems to work really well for me b/c the heat from my finger kinda melts the shadestick and it glides on.

Can y'all recommend say 3 shadesticks- one neutral, one as a base for blue/green shadow, 1 for a base as purple/pink?

I bought Shimmermint yesterday. If you put Prose and Fancy on top of it, it really gives you a dramatic look.

me too!!!

I found a few a bit like cheap glitter sticks. I liked the ones without the chunky glitters.
