Sick sick sick...have we become so desensitized as a community that a young girl's cry for help is ignored when there are so many people around her? I just can't believe that this went unnoticed!

my thoughts exactly. SOMEONE had to have heard her, and it pisses me off that no one helped or told the bus driver right away. are you kidding me? ive sat on a school bus before, no matter how loud it is.. the person behind of their seat, next to, or in front of them MUSTVE heard/seen something. the bastards that turned their backs to it have some kind of fault too. they didnt rape her but hell, condoning it isnt alright either imo.

This is horrible. No one wants to get involved, and this is what happens

There's no fucking way that no one noticed. At least one person had to. I ride a public bus and the El all the time with an iPod on, and I would fucking notice a rape happening if it were right beside or front of or behind me. I know they're kids, but my God, has no one instilled some kind of decency in them?

It's really scary that you can be in such a public place and stuff like this can happen. It almost makes it seem like all your standard safety rules are bs and that you're really not safe anywhere.

Besides commenting on the passengers, how brazen would a kid have to be to do that on a school bus? Part of me wonders if this was a popular kid, which is why no one would say anything, as fucked up as it is

Everyone on that bus is just as at fault as the actual rapist. I think the god damned driver was in on it. Every bus driver I ever had (all 12 of them) would have known if someone spit out their mother fucking GUM let alone getting raped. I am so livid over this right now, I just cannot imagine PRETENDING to ignore what was going on, maybe he was getting off on it. He was not doing his job in any sense of the word, because the *ONLY* way he could not know what was going on would have been if the bus was so rowdy that he couldn't hear her screams, but how did he not see her fighting?

Someone had to have noticed. But these kids' parents are probably telling their children to stay out of it and bury their heads in the sand. These days, people would rather turn the other cheek than get involved.

That's disgusting. I promise you if that was my daughter I would personally destroy this boy. Rape is one of the most horrible crimes in our society and it happens way to often. I'm not really a strong support for capital punishment but when it comes to rapists they deserve a firing squad.

if it was my daughter, i'd destroy the bus driver too. how the fuck do you hear a girl screaming like that and not stop the damn bus to check on things?

wow, that's pretty amazing that nobody did anything to help her. i take a school bus everyday. maybe i should start carrying pepper spray in my pocket. stories like these kinda make me think that i can never be too cautious.

i can never understand how people would do it in public either...

Who would put up 19,000 to let a rapist go free till there was a trial (which could take a long time to come to be) I know innocent till proven guilty but....

Why didn't the driver stop the bus? I know some little kids are afraid of retribution (witnesses later getting hurt, etc) but a group of kids could have overpowered another thug kid.
Those who say and did nothing were accessories to a violent crime imo.

That's the thing though, we're desensitized. Hell, just yesterday (technically now the day before) I watched some guy walk off with the person who was sitting next to me's skullie. There had to have been at least 4 or 5 people around me who watched and didn't even do anything.

People honestly wonder why I'm so misanthropic.

As far as this girl is concerned, I can only wish her the best, and that this boy gets what's coming to him-whatever that might be. It's unfortunate that kids this young are this sick, not that it's new, but it's still something people aren't willing to treat as anything but criminal. I also hope that the people who saw this and did nothing are haunted by it every day for the rest of their miserable little lives.

p.s. I did get the guy's hat back.

While I understand, to some degree, desensitization (for instance, homeless people), I don't see how rape is one of them. At least it isn't for me. I read about rapes that occur, but I sure as hell think I'd be horrified and shocked to see it in front of my face.
