Pro Discount on Dame Edna?

we were hoping that it was just a mistake, since corp was closed through the holidays we thought maybe they forgot to add the discount for us. we didnt get an email saying we couldnt get a discount on it like we did with monogram. im thinking they will realize they need the money and will sell more if they let us employees and also the pro members get their discount. i havent payed full price for mac in 2 yrs, not starting now!! i want the peach gloss and the red lipstick (since neither came in gratis). if they dont give us our discount on HK i know at least two coworkers who will be extremely pissed!!

I know some stores are giving the discount. It will really suck if there is no discount on HK.

I agree with what everyone is saying. I haven't paid full price in over 2 years, and I thought a perk of being a pro member was a discount. That's why I pay my due for it every year, but now if they get to dictate to me when I can use my discount, then screw it. It's different on Holiday packaging because we've never received a discount on it, but I don't think it's right that now if it has special packaging, we can't get a discount. If that's the case, then get rid of the special packaging. It's not like it's that nice with those stupid stickers! Ok, rant over.....

I agree with it also. I guess I will have more money for BBR and the next coming collections.

Maybe we should all write MAC to complain. I'm glad to hear other Pro members won't buy w/o the discount, I thought I might be making an outrageous claim!!

There was a "glitch" in the systems as some stores were able to do the discount and some could not. It has since been fixed.

Primary launches such as Dame Edna can not be given a discount (B2M, Employees, Pro members etc)

What do you mean by primary launches?

It's not that I would never buy with out the discount, but I am more inclined to buy stuff if theres a discount. Not just make up but clothes and shoes you know. And I tend to buy more than I would with the discount. I hope they rethink this policy.

I'm not saying I won'tt be buying anything either, but I certainly won't be spending frivolously. Which I totally planned on doing for HK!!!

I think that it is fair to not give a discount on special packaging because if you're a Pro member it means you do something in the industry for a living. Now, lets say Dame Edna or Hello Kitty those colors if you add them to your "kit" once they run out thats it. You wont be able to get it again, so in the end you would have to hunt for a dupe. I really don't see much of an LE item adding to peoples kits. For example Fafi, come on, the shadows were so chalky I didn't even want it for myself and its sitting in a dark corner of my stash.

Im not saying its fair, specially because as an employee I was hoping to get my discount so I can wear it and sell it. But it makes sense to not discount special packaging collections.

^^Well that could be said for anything LE regardless of the packaging. I rarely worry about things like a lipstick or eye shadow running out, esp if its not a basic color I use all the time. When its gone, I'll find something else if I really need to, I always do. Just b/c your kit runs out of something, does not mean it needs to be replaced right away or that it has to be replaced at all.

I mean its makeup, I want it just because ya know??

M·A·C Pro terms and conditions state;

"Select limited edition products and Viva Glam/M·A·C AIDS Fund products are not available at discount"

Given that the vast majority of products are available with a Pro discount, I think it's churlish to complain about the few which aren't.

I don't think we were really complaining. I know I was saying that I am more inclined to buy more stuff with a discount than with out. I always buy the viva glam L/S and L/G because I like them and its something that I wear all the time. Just like clothes I would rather buy on sale than pay full price for an item. Thats all I was saying I am very grateful that I get a discount because with out it my kit would be a bare minimum until I had the fund. Thanks MAC.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Its just a bit disappointing when you have always received it in the past and the company all of a sudden changes its policy. I also buy Viva Glam at full price b/c I like it and thats how its always been - no discount.

Just curious, I know Brits have a lot of unique slang words, what does churlish mean? Or were you attempting to call us childish? Lol.

I agree with you. I don't know about the rest of you with Pro Cards, but I have had a few clients say "oh, do you have *insert product name* from *insert collection name*.. Clients are smart, they know whats out there, and have asked to see the newer stuff often enough, but without that card, i couldn't afford to stock my kits with the "newest". Granted, I have Fafi and Heatherette, and now that those collections are long passed, people don't ask for them anymore. But the colors are still useful.. The slow economy isn't helping my wallet either. I'm not as busy as I was this time, say, last year.

I absolutely agree with you.
For example, the Penultimate eyeliner is a permanent product intended for customer use as well as professional use. You can get a pro discount on it because it will benefit the professional makeup artist. However, a special packaging item like a Dame Edna lipstick is dupeable and really was meant for fun usage, and to celebrate Dame Edna herself. Sure, a MUA can use it in their kit but it won't have the same effect as a product from the permanent line.
