Prolife Or Prochoice

In short, Pro Choice: A woman's body, A woman's choice.

Long explanation as to why I support it: A woman should have the right to choose if she believes the pregnancy will be detrimental to her health (mental/physical), emotional well being or even if her quality of life will suffer dramatically. Whether it be financially or from social stigmas (still very much alive in this day and age, e.g one particular country I lived in unwed mothers are unable to obtain birth certs for their children, I discovered this when I was helping to send some disadvantaged kids to school)

I also empathize with a woman's decision to undergo a selective abortion whether it be for rape, disability or disease (last 2 apply to both mother & fetus)

If a promiscuous woman opts to continually use abortion as a form of birth control, morally I have objections to this, but it lies with the individual not the pro choice issue.

Where does a would be father's right come into this? It doesn't. The whole Slut/stud double standard exists today in the western world due to the fact that woman fall pregnant and men can't. How many times have you heard some one comment "She's the tart that got knocked up" v's a guy jokingly comment on "not having any kids that he knows about"

Ok that last paragraph probably doesn't convey the point I am trying to get across but forgive me as I'm doped up on flu medication and feel crappy at the moment.

I'm definitely pro-choice, but also pro-birth control! If you don't want to get pregnant, use protection. (Unless you are raped, of course.) Abortions shouldn't be taken lightly and not used as a method of birth control. But, I know that accidents happen so I think a woman has the right to get one if she wants to. I have never had to have an abortion and am glad of that, I am sure it is far less than a pleasant experience. So please, always use a condom!!

Ok...considering we have only had men in office, my statement is pretty accurate for the time being

I didn't say it was inaccurate, just questioned the situation, is all, because the likelihood of a female president isn't unheard of, either in this election or the next one.

Couldn't have said it better.

I voted as a prolifer because that's what I would choose for myself, but what another woman does is her issue to deal with.

Not to be insensitive , but I honestly think any women with half a brain can come up with a better form of birth control.

I'm pro choice 100%. I do think abortion is a sad thing, and if the girl cared enough, its a decision that she will live/and be haunted with for the rest of her life. But maybe the girl doesnt have enough money, maybe she feels like shes unready, or in many of my friends case, parents, and fear of being disowned. Even the "wisest" girl could be safe use condoms/bc.. but accidents happen, i know its a risk you have to consider while having sex but hey... i guess they all think "oh it will never happen to me" I think if the child isnt going to be raised properly and loved its going to cause future emotional issues for the individual and others around him and possible criminal behavior. But theres always adoption.. But you have to be pretty selfless to go through the huge tramatizing task of carrying a child to give he/she away as soon as it comes out of you. I dont think sex ed is enough.. In the heat of the moment when your 17 with your boyfriend of 1 year, who is going to stop to think "hey, im going to get pregnant and possible stds" when they both have their privates thinking instead of their brains.

Just b/c teenagers and young adults are being careless and having sex doesn't make it ok to opt out of the consequences. I know about the heat of the moment and all that jazz... But when you have sex you are opening yourself up to many consequences. Not being ready is no excuse. I can't think of one single unselfish reason to have an abortion.

You won't make a good parent - you don't want to put time into it or give up the things that you want to do

You're afraid of what everyone will think - You don't want to be judged for the decisions you made

You are unemployed or aren't finished with school - Only thinking of yourself, and how hard it would be on you to have to deal with your decisions

I know that when you have unprotected sex and get pregnant you made a choice. making that choice with the knowledge of what can come from you actions makes you responsible for the consequences. To be honest a good percentage of us are extremely lucky our mother wasn't prochoice.

It makes me furious

to think that i could have simply aborted my son and gone on to continue with college and my sorority. I would never have encountered all the joy and love he brought with him. I won't lie its been hard and there have been several times when I didn't know where the money for food would come from, or I didn't think I could go to school, work and give him the time that he needed. But I have and it's always worked out perfectly.

I don't have time to myself, or a carefree life, But I have so much more, it was worth the sacrifice. Sometimes the greatest things in life are the things we aren't ready for or don't think we want.

I think that it is a selfish person that would have an abortion to save money or not go through the headache or an uncomfortable life. There are so many people looking to adopt a child, including me, and there isn't enough children out there.

My opinion, is that you should only have an abortion if you are raped... there is no other reason to do it besides that.

I have to comment on there not being enough children to adopt...

There are TOO MANY children still needing to be adopted. People are just being picky and petty and not seeing the real issue. I'm not directing that at you, but it's true in general.

I think that the plan B pill should be included in all rape kits ( even though it's not) Then the rape victim would never have the chance to conceive and wouldn't have to go through any more trauma. I don't know why thy have removed that as procedure most places. I think a lot of the victims are thinking that is standard and then are shocked if they turn up pregnant

Because it's not unreasonable to say that personally, one is pro-life and would never have an abortion (or would only have one under very specific circumstances), but wouldn't want that choice removed from the lives of other women?
