First - if you are referencing the first amendment in the bill of rights - and I'm going to quote here 'Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.' does NOT refer to the seperation of church and state.
It says there will not be an established religion. A church officially recognized by the goverment AND SUPPORTED AS A NATIONAL INSTITUTION *emphasis mine* is what the Establishment Clause refers to. Establish is to make stable; to order, ordain or enact; to set up; to cause to be or happen; etc. That says that the USofA will not create a church - Church of America (and I hope there isn't one out there by that name, I didn't check THAT with google) that Joe and Sally Citizen MUST attend or be fined. That is what the Constitution promises us.
As to the cubicle reference? That is also a fact. Sorry, but I know it has. not third hand either. The placque in question in my incident? "Well done is better than well said! And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as unto the Lord." There's nothing offensive about that. But because it has the word "LORD" on it, I was asked to remove it.
Sorry, but I classify it as persicution.

It's actually in the Bill of Rights. Look it up, it's called the Establishment Clause. I'm surprised someone would argue against church and state separation with such certainty before even doing the most basic of google searches. No offense, it just struck me as odd that you didn't look it up first to make sure you were stating a fact. |
