They do this a lot in my nearest store here in Spain which is super annoying. If you aren't careful you wind up buying a perm product without knowing! I went to check out the Indulge collection and they'd sold out on many of the items but they had substituted them for other similar ones from the permanent line. They had Aquadisiac instead of Sex and the Oyster for instance, and the lipsticks were different too, except Sweet Succulence, By Design and Smash Hit. If they can't find a "dupe" they leave the gap. I was excited as I thought they had many of the items but as I turned them over and checked out the name I noticed it wasn't right!! I asked the girl at the counter and she said they do that so that the stand doesn't look empty and so that you can create the look and buy a similar product even though the limited edition one is sold out.Exactly that. Items similar in the permanent line are used as fillers if the limited edition item is sold out at make over events . Basically close dupes to create the same or close to the same look
