Wow, that's awful. I can't imagine them doing that with this lipstick tho as there's no licensing issue, right?

o_O Needy plain people? "I see you're down on your luck AND in need of a good lip color. So... Here you go!" LOL

Since they're not for sell I imagine they really will just destroy them.

I agree. Why would they sell a lipstick made to be free? Not really logical but sad for us!
It is just a promotional item for Estee Lauder.

It seems even sillier of Fashion Valley to be so stingy W/ them if they'll just burn!

I wonder if the lipstcks could be popped out and put in different containers w/ different names or something..would MAC do a thing like that?..It seems wrong on many levels to destroy a perfectly good product!

Yeah. Oh, and I shipped your package off today :: nods :: Follow the DC number! LOL

And yeah, it seems weird they would be so weird about them. You'd think they'd WANT to give them to people instead of just letting them get destroyed

i agree it seems very wasteful, but what are they gonna do with it?

they can't sell it because it was suppose to be free. plus, the offer expires in a few days and i'm sure there is a bunch left.

my guess is they will just recycle the packaging and call it a day...

a better idea would be to just throw it in for free with online orders.

I've also wondered if they're going to introduce several free lipsticks for a handful of states and cities every few months and then when they've finished, sell them all at once as an LE item..I'd love more than just my Cali lippie!

Rethinking this, maybe they might show up at CCOs after all. I'm always seeing Estee Lauder promo items for sale at my CCOs, so I wouldn't be too surprised to see these show up eventually. The only question is, how would they price them? At the price of a reg. lipstick at a CCO, or less since it was a freebie initially? I can't see them destroying them when they could still sell them, judging by eBay prices.

I'm also betting that they may extend their date for this promotion at counters. It would be more of a hassle to have to send the extras back. Judging by this thread, it sounds like most people weren't able to take advantage of this promotion via the mailed postcards anyway. They should have just sent emails in the first place. I bet a ton of those postcards ended up in the garbage along with the rest of the junk mail. This is due to the cards being sent out before people were aware of the promotion and could keep an eye out for them in the mail. My other half always tosses out our junk mail, so mine is probably in some landfill at the moment. I hope if MAC does another promo like this in the future, they do it via emails. The Interwebs are the wave of the future after all.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe they'll just sell the unloved ones in a new package, with a new name, for a anniversary for something like Nordstroms.

There's also the possibility of them just changing the stickers on the bottom, and releasing this color later, and not really having to repackage.

Ya know, I have heard so much talk about getting this or not being able to get this, but I've heard almost nothing about how people like it once they get it, lol. Is it all that or not really anything great? Or is no one touching it to their lips so they can sell it on Ebay?

I wore it once, and think it's okay. It's not the greatest color for me, but definitely nice. Still, I'm glad to have it, because it's not like any of the other colors I have, and I like to have variety.

I'm going tonight after work, finally. I have some empties to go back anyhow. Is it wrong that I just want it just for the name, as a native Californian?
