The law really doesn't reflect the crime. What they did was sadistic and beyond cruel... If I got caught with drugs or stealing, I'm pretty danm sure I'd get sent away longer than them.

I'm really amazed she was able to survive. Poor hydration usually kills a person. I hope she and her brother can recover, but it's so hard to say.

you're so right the system is so backwards ...it pisses me off! 48 months of the same torcher is merely enough punishment for these two animals!

I read that the father said that the daughter and the mother fought and didn't get along and that's what started it... He said he thought it would work itself out.

Whatever, bleh. 48 months isn't near long enough. I'd say at least 5 years, for how long she tortured the little girl.

I so agree!! I always wonder how much violence, rape, abuse etc. would go on if people had to endure the same things they put others through.

That is so strange. Why would they keep them from getting water? How sick. And the dogs were in great health and were brought to the vet?! What?! These people should get a lot more than 48 months, in my opinion. This is also a case where I think sterilization should be legal. My God.

seriously? It would work itself out. Ok for arguments sake I'm just going to say F. being her father b/c clearly you suck at that. But at what point do you as a freaking human being say enough is enough and you can't do that to another human?

Now back to being a father, shouldn't the point where you say HELL NO you can't do that to my baby come at ummmm.... the first time she starved her and restricted her water intake.

There is no way in hell that I would allow anyone to lock my cihldren up and starve them. How can you knowingly let someone abuse your kids? I would put your crazy behind out and have you locked up for child abuse. I don't care what I had to do to stop you, even f I have to drug you and run away in the middle of the night, that s**t ain't happening. Hell I would kill you before you could do that to my kids.

Work itself out???? Omg, that dude deserves several swift kicks in the face and groin on top of his extended jail sentence for 1) allowing this situation to continue and 2) giving that ridiculously lame excuse.

But I guess these people clearly didn't have it all there in the first place. Omg, the damage that has been done to this child at the hands of people who are posed to love her. It truly makes me so sad, especially since it will be a long time before that girl can develop healthy relationships with others, IF she ever can.

I'm not sure 5 years is enough. The parents put that poor child through so much psychological torture, not to mention who knows really the physical effects of this.

Then again, if the jailmates know why they're in, they're going to be tortured/abused pretty badly.

Agreed. Her teeth fell out because she was so dehydrated, she weighs 97 lbs at 14... She is probably going to have a lot of serious physical effects for the rest of her life. I'm not even going to touch what the psychological effects must be at this point, just because I'm not her psychologist. Suffice it to say that will probably be with her for the rest of her life as well. Five years is not enough for something like this.

ETA: My apologies, I gave the wrong number. Her weight was 48 lbs.

Gosh, I hope they are counseled and can lead healthy and normal lives.

This is why we need harsher punishment for crimes like these. It's saddening that these ppl get a slap on their wrists for torturing innocent children. They should be made into examples so other parents would be deterred from doing this...

Our poor children!

Up to 48 months?? That means it could be way less than 48 months. That is ridiculous, they deserve life in prison. Those poor kids..... Watching her shower so she doesn't drink water?? WTF

How did you find a photo of her? I didn't think that the original article had names.

^ It did. The father's name was John Pomeroy, and the stepmother is Rebecca Long. I won't comment on the authenticity of the photo, but the names of the adults involved are out there.

48 months? Is the justice system really that pathetic? Prison feeds their prisoners a lot more than those children ever ate in their life. Not to mention they get treated a lot better.

This is her blogspot knitting blog.
She lists her location as Carnation.
This article lists the couple's location as Carnation.
Also, compare the photo of Jon Pomeroy in the article to the photos of "Old Guy sweater on a not old guy" in the blog, whom she names as Jon.
Plus: Her flickr account, which has several photos of her, though most are with her head cut off (with the exception of this one, which shows Rebecca Long knitting).

I hope that they do find more charges against them... Although I doubt live back in normal society will be great if they only serve the neglect charge

Thanks for the background. I normally don't buy it when a picture is just posted as a link without any info as to where it came from, this gives it much more credibility.
