All of a sudden I'm lemming for the quad because I want to do a look like the promo pic for my D&D this week! I don't have any dupes for the two darker shades. Too bad the collection hasn't launched yet.

Ingenue I love your pics using the quad, thanks for sharing! I've been thinking about getting the quad and maybe the tweed blush but wasn't sure how well it would show up on me but your pics sold me on the quad. This will be my first Chanel purchase, I hope I don't get addicted like I am with MAC and MUFE

Thanks Bell! I'm going to do a ton more looks with it... it's really versatile.

I got the quad yesterday. I really love it and I didn't think I had any fallout until I went outside and looked in the sun...at which point I saw a ton of gold sparkles under my eyes. lol I think I may try applying with the included applicators next time, believe it or not. The baked shadows are so powdery that brushes create such a mess in the quad.

^^ Try pressing the brush on your lids instead of sweeping it. I used the sponge applicators when I bought my first few quads but I can't get the colour to transfer on my lids. They seemed to just go on the sponge, and I have difficulty holding on to the tiny sticks. Hope you have better luck with them! But I'm excited to hear that you love the quad. The coppery colours aren't anything like kaska beige?

Well I "tried" to recreate the promo pic look by applying the second darkest (coppery) shade wet on my lid and blending out. Well it doesn't look even remotely copper. I mean ZERO copper. It totally pulled purple/plum on me. I mean more plum then Magic Night that I just got that I'm totally disappointed in by the way :-( This is making me feel sad. I still LOVE the quad but I really wanted the coppery colours that it was made out to be in the promos. It was funny because someone on MUA said she didn't get the quad because it pulled purple on her and I remember asking her if she was sure she tried the right one at the counter. Now I know what she was talking about. It was weird to because I applied it using the sponge applicater damp over MAC Bare Canvas Paint and when i looked back a while later a patch had totally disappeared?

Edit: I forgot to mention I also tried Fuchsia Tweed this morning and it's fabulous!

Hmmm, I think I may end up getting this quad after all! Winthrop, if you love it, I probably will too! And especially if the coppery shade isn't so coppery. The darkest shade has always tempted me, but it wasn't enough on its own to lure me in!

It seems then that I will definitely have to limit myself to only one glossimer.

Nope, the coppery colors are not like Kaska on me at all, don't make me look tired. I'm wondering if in the promo image they may have mixed the darkest color with that second darkest coppery color...maybe layered the second darkest over the darkest. Have you tried that mrslid? I just wrote to Chanel - let's see what they say!

Edit: I just tried layering various shades on my arm and I guess the closest I came was layering that second darkest coppery color over the pink, but yeah...still nothing like the promo, more sparkly chocolate. The colors don't pull purple on me tho, mslid, probably because of my yellow undertones vs your pink.

Thanks. It will be great to know how they create the eye ,akeup. Do you think they use the biphase liquid e/s as base?

I guess there's no way to really be sure of how the colors look layered until you try it, but from Karla's swatch and description (cool brown) it's hard to see how it would help.

Here are some pics of Karen from MBB using the new holiday quad

She used the liquid shadow on the lid with the darker color -- it looks like she used the more copper-y shade in the crease -- but she has a warm skin tone. Maybe that is why it is showing up as more bronzey on some than others??

Why would we kill you? Makeup is all about wearing what you love and enjoy. I am sure your tweed fushcia will get some love at some point. ;-)

Ya the result was not only not coppery but also a lot darker than the promo pic so the darkest colour definately would not work. Layering the pink is a good idea but yeah it would probably make it more purple toned on me. It will be interesting to see what Chanel says. I should contact them about tips on applying their shadows wet ;-)

Yeah I got the same kind of plum look she got from the darker shadow with the 2nd darkest one as well. Must be from my skin tone. Still looks awesome...just leaves me craving copper Chanel still ;-)

I definitely find that a paint-pot type of base is working better for me than e/s primer. Smashbox used to make a cream shadow/liner called Starstruck, which is a shimmering red/plum brown shade. When I layer the darkest e/s from the quad over it, the shimmer in the shadow really pops! I still have yet to find a good base for the second darkest e/s. Like mrslid said, it's really hard to make it pull copper. It's not pulling red or plum on me, but not copper either.

I really wish I had the palette in person to see how it wears. It looks so gorgeous in the photos! I have the UD Naked Palette which is full of golds, coppers, and bronze -- so I definitely have my bronze fix there. I just love the looks of that darkest shade . . . yummy
