MAC - Wonder Woman Discussion

I know about nasty customs fees. Luckily most people know to put gift on the package to save the fees. I once got stung for £18 on a order from the us.....never again.

I don't know about UK customs but just wanted to warn you, in here the customs have changed their policy and now all that matters is the total value of the package. Few years ago anything marked as a gift would come through but I guess too many people misused it and now you might end up being charged if the total value's over 43 euros (incl.shipping cost). So it all depends on the total $$ the sender writes on the package and to the custom declaration.

The thing with the packaging that we have to remember they are under obligation to DC to keep things iconic. Same thing happened with Disney and the VV collection. When MAC partners with certain companies, they have the ultimate say in the packaging. Usually the people giving the final say so don't know too much about the audience that usually buy makeup. As a former comic book geek I find the packaging very true to Wonder Woman. I'm still a bit underwhelmed but I know things may change once I see the products and swatch. I do have one question. Is Opulash a volumizing, lenthening, or curling mascara?

Awww yeah, another Marvel Gal!!!! My faves are the X-Men beauties: Storm, Jean Grey and Rogue. I tried to get into DC but...let's say I know enough to keep the characters and their storylines straight.

I'm scheduled to go to a special 'masters' class at my local MAC boutique on Sunday so hopefully I can get some info about the WW launch. I'll happily share what I find out.

I used to wish I was Storm even when she was sporting the mohawk.

I don't understand why people would expect the packaging to be any different. It's Wonder Woman. Did you expect plain black packaging? Something pink an green? I don't think it's anything to be embarrassed about. I was pretty neutral on the VV packaging, but I think this is better. To each their own, I guess, but you gotta expect them to go all out with the theme. I hope Temptalia gets to review this soon because I really want to see all the products. I've cut my list, though. My must haves are the Lady Justice palette and Amazon Princess Duo. None of the lipsticks are making my heart race, but I want one because I love the packaging. I'm leaning towards Heroine depending on how frosty it is. I doubt I'll like Spitfire because I hate Petals and Peacocks on me, but we'll see.

I'm so excited about this collection. I just started getting into MAC make up and I have been spending money like crazy trying to catch up with everything.. too bad i missed out on great collections last year.. im definitely going to make up for that now..

i love the packaging for the WW collection.. I guess it looks kiddish but that's the idea right? It is a comic after all not some literary novel so the bright blue and red colours are very fitting.. I am getting the lady justice palettes and MSFs.. Possibly a lipstick or two.. Heehee.. Everything is so expensive here in SG though..

I totally agree! Wonder Woman packaging has to be red, blue and yellow. What else would it be? I thought all the black with VV didn't quite work, except for Maleficent's, and I think it would have been even more jarring for Wonder Woman. While I agree that it would have been neat for the yellow to have been gold instead, I understand why probably wouldn't have been practical (cost, after all) for all the packaging.

Having said that, I'm a comic book reader (yeah, mostly DC), so I won't be embarrassed in the least to carry this around. I'm a geek, and I don't particularly care who knows it -- as evidenced by all my Harry Potter, comic book and WoW shirts. :) But that also means I'm probably not the best example....

I'm excited to see swatches, as I'm not inclined to buy everything like I thought I would be when the collection was first announced. The brush sets, eyeliner (irritates my eyes) and mascaras (don't need any) are all easily skipable for me. I haven't bought any MAC since VV, which was mostly a dud for me, so I'm far out of the habit of buying a ton from every LE collection anyway.

I agree as well. HK & VV were both black so it would have been a bore if they did black packaging again. This collection is not for everyone so it's okay not to like the packaging. I'm glad MAC went all out and is sticking to the classic WW comic book.

I'm sure you are correct that DC gets approval rights on the packaging, so yeah, it's going to have that traditional WW logo and characteristics. They're trying to revive Wonder Woman as a franchise, so no surprise the logo and traditional colors are going to be front and center.

Opulash is quite natural looking. In my experience it volumizes first, lengthens second and does only a little curling on its own, but probably helps a curl stay in place (I don't use an eyelash curler, though - those things always looked like torture devices to me

) It doesn't smudge on me (and I'm very prone to smudging) but it's also really easy to remove when you're ready, which I like.

I think I need to go to my local Mac and see if they still remember me! It's been awhile. I wanna snag an invite if they are having a preview.

I really hope Spitfire looks like Petals & Peacocks! I missed out on it and can't seem to find it anywhere. >_<
I'm so into pink lipsticks at the moment so hopefully Spitfire is awesome.
I definitely want to buy a lipstick because I love how the packaging looks. :)

WoW shirts?! That is cool xD Me and my bf enjoy WoW and Harry Potter too. There is nothing geeky about it at all as long as it doesn't run our lives.

I am starting to warm up to this collection as I don't have a true red lipstick yet, so hopefully Russian Red and the lipgloss works for me. I love the idea of Giantness. My bf thinks the packaging is cool and I just wish there was wonderwoman on the actual products, not just to boxes. I do agree that the packaging does suit the comics and is true to wonderwoman and is very american
