Chanel Summer 2011

Well, Temptalia's pics & swatches are not color accurate. Mimosa is not that dark of a yellow. It must be her skin, because the bronzers are not "powdery". I would not even judge the glosses on her lips as products just appear strange on her lip color & texture wise. not sure why.

One of the comments below her review said that they expected the Bronzer colors to be brighter

- its Chanel! They don't necessarily do "bright". As a whole, they are more about soft & subtle and natural with the exception of those dark smokey eyes they did.

I also noticed by some verbiage - that she has been reading here before she posts

Winthrop - did you try the bronzer yet? Bronzers can be funny animals some times, you either love it or hate them on.

No, I haven't tried it yet. I'm not a bronzer person at all and I really only bought it because of the lightness and the pink....figured that it might be the one for me.

This is the comment by Christine that I don't get:

"Gardenia and Pink Peony don’t look much like the promo – Gardenia is nowhere bright enough, so you wouldn’t get the look even with a dupe. You’re better off just using a hot pink with a gloss on top!"

The only place the promo looks like it shows a hot pink lip is on her site...

^^ I was thinking the same thing - I totally passed on it when I picked up my stuff - didn't even swatch is as I thought it was a regular in the line......not sure I'll get it, as I think I may have what I need with Jersey Rose......

Totally agree with you both on the T comments - not sure what it is about the swatch coloring - and not sure expectations are being set properly to expect Chanel to be 'bright' on the bronzer......like you said Elegant, that's not what you're supposed to want.....

And in my last post to Katred, I totally forgot about the bronzers!! I love both of them - and hope to get a lot of use out of them this summer, but totally agree (again) with Elegant - you either love 'em or hate 'em. I think these come the closest to being somewhere in the middle......

I agree -- that gloss doesn't look hot pink in all of the other promo pics . . .

Cheryl -- I just saw your post -- we all seem to agree!

I wore Gardenia the other day after we talked about it on here and next to the Shines it felt so dry. I might be spoiled now.

How are you wearing Rose Platine? I love the color on my hand but it doesn't really show up very much around my eyes...maybe that's because I haven't got any other eye makeup on yet, contrast may help.

Edit: Yep, even just mascara helped alot!

Michelle, your goodies looks so beautiful! Enjoy! I have to content with drooling at the pics as I wait for the collection.

Agreed. She always seems to photo-edit the pics and add lots of brightness and colour intensity.

I hope you like the bronzer. I think it will work since it's pink and soft as a bronzer.

Thanks Miss QQ! I am excited for you to get the collection! It is a really pretty collection and that is what I am looking for these days. So perfect for summer!

The bronzer is great and I am excited to try it out again today

Yes I learned long ago not to go by Temptalia's swatches since our coloring is so different but I thought the gloss swatches would at least show the sheerness. I'm just going to forget about it and trust all you gals love of the products as I usually do! Yes "you gals" is proper english lol

What verbage sounded like she reads these boards? Now I'm curious!!

[/quote] I agree about the glossimers. They seem strange on her. However, in my experience, I find it difficult to photograph glossimers when you are wearing them on their own. They are better appreciated in person. Also, I didn't find the bronzers to be powdery even in my short time playing with them. I do agree with the part of her review that says that they won't do much more than highlight darker skin. Even the coral shade looked like nothing on me. It just didn't pop enough for my taste. That's fine for a blush, but I have plenty. I wanted more of that bronzey glow. It's alright, though because I know plenty of you are enjoying it :). Ooh, so she reads this board, huh? I always wondered. We are too strong to ignore, ya know?

Me too!!!! I so agree about the shines. If I use another ls it does feel fairly dry

Nope, it doesn't show up a whole lot on me either, but its a really pretty highlighter just below the liner. If I use it by itself, like you its not real noticeable. I think of it as some lights around my eyes to reflect off & hide the bags

Oh, & speaking of bags...I tried out that new MAC primer & i loved how it looked & felt right after I applied it - a very lightening, highlightly, covered dark circles some what & my eyes looked very lifted & bright. Then it kind of disappeared into the skin :( So then I applied my CDP (which is kinda dry) over it and it was nice & applied more smoothly. But then I tried eyeshadow of the top lid, & it made it a bit draggy. If it stayed looking like it did when I first applied - it would be awesome. Still not too bad in some ways.

yeah that is why i like karla's swatches the best - we are the same skintone pretty much so things are more accurate :)

I am wearing Rose Bronze today - wow, it is gorgeous. It gives a glow without actually being shimmery, if that makes sense. The texture is divine. I am wearing Pensee too, which is pretty, but I wish it was not so sheer. Still super pretty, though.

I may cave and order the quad and the pencil. *sigh* I love this collection - the bronzers truly are stunning.

That sums it up perfectly! It really gives a beautiful glow. It was exactly what I was hoping it would be
