MAC - MAC Me Over Discussion

It's annoying that one has to watermark every image, but better safe and sorry. That's why it takes longer.

I wanted to like Secret Lover, but it's one of those lippies that you can only apply heavily or in a very thin manner as anything in between will just look as if the l/s is coming off. Having said that, I have to try it again with lip erase and I am sure it will swatch better.

@ Mac-Guy: The shade sticks are very pigmented indeed....Did you warm them between your hands before you swatched.

Nope, just opened it and it did glide like butter on my hands. It was in an a/c-ed environment. They are really lovely and I will pick up a few as they are so easy to work with. But it's best to test for yourself as everybody has different tastes and working methods.

I did like both quads and I found both decently pigmented. Evil Eye is slightly less pigmented, but as the colors are super dark, it did not bother me at all, as I felt they were "office-friendly." The gray quad has a deeper pigmentation, but as the colors are so much lighter, when swatched side-by-side, all 8 e/s look equally pigmented. One of the MUA is a WOC and the EE quad looked just stunning on her, so it is definitely possible to build up the color.

I was not too thrilled about Seaside, not because the color is not nice, but it is so close to Hush that neither the MUA's nor I could see any difference. SS is slightly more golden, but only if swatched heavily. I have to check my stash how much Hush I have left. If I am running low (or it is time to throw it out), I might get SS to replace Hush, but I certainly don't need both. On the other hand, Take Root is absolutely lovely and I might get a BU.

I'm really interested in using these as shadows "on the run" in the morning or as bases under other shadows to intensify different colors.....I'll see what happens next week.

Ohhh Mac -guy, I hate you right now. LOL I had JUST crossed off the shade sticks.

Do I need those and the new paintpots coming up?

How did you like evil eye?

I would one use the CCB's? Can I use them as a base to make my blush last longer?

Take Root (left) is absolutely gorgeous. It is a slightly warmer, more intense Version of Root. It is nice and creamy, with no visible frost finish. If I wouldn't know better, I would say it is a cream or satin finish rather than frost.

The s/s are super soft and buttery. I love how pigmented they are and how pigmented they glide onto the skin.

Thanks Mac Guy now I have to add them too in my wish list

I thought of you when I swatched Carbonized today. I would describe it as a bitter-chocolate dream with a nice-but-not-obnoxious shimmer.

Ahh my list just keeps on getting longer! I think that I'm definitely going to get Carbonized, Avenue, and either Offshoot or Oh Oh Oh via Back 2 MAC.
I 'm tempted by Social Light lipglass, Stunner blush and the Lady Grey quad though.
I really like 3 of the shadows in LG, I just hate the look of All Races - I know it won't suit me and I won't use it! The other 3 look really pretty though, like I could just put one on quick in the morning for a work-ready eye

However, I did just buy 3 pairs of shoes in the Office sale so should probs shouldn't splurge....

Apologies for the giant watermark, but as I have recently seen my swatches on other sites, I just want to make it a bit more difficult to "steal" the images.

Some thoughts on Stunner vs. Equilibrium:

I will take both, but for different reasons. Stunner is a very lovely pinkish color that looks very natural on me, like the flush I get when it starts to get colder outside (but not blizzard-cold). It has a slight sheen (but no glitter) to it, which makes it a good Fall color that looks natural but has enough oompf to be noticed. Having said that, it's not a strongly pigmented blush and the pigmentation is probably somewhere between a beauty powder and a regular blush. If you have a darker skin tone, I believe you can make it work, but you probably have to get more on the brush or go for seconds.

Equilibrium is the more unique color and it reminds me of the New England Fall foilage. It's an absolutely stunning blush, as it has a hint of brown combined with a subtle red. It is not too warm either, so I think it will work on warm and cool-toned beauties. It's not the most unique color in the pan, but swatched, especially on cheeks, it's a stunner (pun intended!). It is definitely a Fall color and I will certainly use it a lot. For some, it might also work as a contour, especially as there is no glitter and the sheen is rather subtle. It is more pigmented than Stunner, so if you are a porcelain beauty, you want to use a light hand.
