MAC - MAC Me Over Discussion

Some thoughts on Stunner vs. Equilibrium:

I will take both, but for different reasons. Stunner is a very lovely pinkish color that looks very natural on me, like the flush I get when it starts to get colder outside (but not blizzard-cold). It has a slight sheen (but no glitter) to it, which makes it a good Fall color that looks natural but has enough oompf to be noticed. Having said that, it's not a strongly pigmented blush and the pigmentation is probably somewhere between a beauty powder and a regular blush. If you have a darker skin tone, I believe you can make it work, but you probably have to get more on the brush or go for seconds.

Equilibrium is the more unique color and it reminds me of the New England Fall foilage. It's an absolutely stunning blush, as it has a hint of brown combined with a subtle red. It is not too warm either, so I think it will work on warm and cool-toned beauties. It's not the most unique color in the pan, but swatched, especially on cheeks, it's a stunner (pun intended!). It is definitely a Fall color and I will certainly use it a lot. For some, it might also work as a contour, especially as there is no glitter and the sheen is rather subtle. It is more pigmented than Stunner, so if you are a porcelain beauty, you want to use a light hand.

I had just taken Equilibrium off my list!

I thought of you when I swatched Carbonized today. I would describe it as a bitter-chocolate dream with a nice-but-not-obnoxious shimmer.

Who else would share my passion for root with me, if you not you? :)

Think of TR as a more sophisticated version of R. The texture is just stunning, smooth, and buttery, while it still seems to dry down in a reasonable amount of time. I really like how blendable TR is in comparison to some other CCB's I had in the past. There is a warmth to it - in a very subtle way - that is very Fall-colorish but not too warm that it would only suit warm-toned beauties. The slight warmth brings out blue eyes in a rather gorgeous fashion. It's one of those "Hello Fall" colors that will also go well with Semi Precious MSF Goldstone and MES Faux Gold, or later during the Fall, it will be a great base for a Fall smokey eye with Carbonized and Moleskin. I think they have improved the texture, as it felt smoother than R.

Thoughts on Carbonized, Mythical, Creamy Bisque, Moleskin:

- Carbonized: see description above. It is definitely a winner, especially as it has this bitter-chocolate sheen that is absolutely gorgeous. If applied heavily, there is almost a wet sheen to it, especially when used over Take Root. A must have IMO. Sexy, but sophisticated.

- Mythical: It is more frost and more cool-toned than anticipated, but it's a gorgeous color to bring out green or blue eyes.

The texture and pigmentation of those two e/s is extraordinary and it's just a pleasure to work with these shades.

- Creamy Bisque: It looks much more natural on me than any of the other swatches I have seen (I did not have high hopes for it), but on NW20, it's a great highlighter color that looks natural, but has enough frost to give your some oompf. It is less pigmented, but that's how I like my highlighters, especially when it comes to frost finishes. It is creamier and a tad more beige/cream-colored than Short Shorts from Surf Baby, which makes it more subtle for Fall MU.

- Moleskin: Just as expected, it is a lovely blending color that will look very natural on the lid, the crease, or even as an all-over wash. The texture is buttery, despite the matte finish, it was easy to work with. IMO, it is a true nude color that will work well with any taupe-shade or with more vibrant colors if you need to turn up the color volume. As it is so easily blendable, it will also work well as a transition color between crease and brow bone. It's just exciting to see a nude color that has excellent color pay off and is also interesting enough to worn alone on no-MU-MU-days.

Thanks a lot for the review and the pictures. How warm would you say Mystical and Carbonized? I cannot wear warm eyeshadows, especially warm browns make me look lovelorn. You mentioned that they were cooler than you expected. Would you say I could get away with them? your description of Carbonized :)

Maybe not many others

Oh my goodness you make it sound so lovely!!! PERFECT. I cannot wait to own it. Regular Root is a base for almost all my other es. I's so curious about the new texture.
Thanks so much

I'm also loving Moleskin. I can't remember the famous mu artist's name right now, but he used to use a similar color (maybe a tad deeper) to rim the entire eye for a "doe" eye look & it was so soft & sexy.

Both are more on the neutral side, especially Mythical leans more towards cool. You might want to stay away from Moleskin, as it is more neutral-warm.

thanx for the swatches mac-guy. Hope this comes online sooner than later :(

I hope it pops up on Pro soon. I just checked and still nada. I don't think it is a technical problem though, as they added so much other stuff this week. It's just incredibly late, but if you want to get stuff, I would call a Pro Store and put in an online order.

in some swatches I've seen (vampy varnish for example), carbonized seems to have a beautiful pink sheen... is it true in real life?

I don't think it has a pink sheen. In VV's swatches, it looks like she (maybe) used the same brush. In this case, what you see as pink sheen, is probably the remaining pigmentation from Mythical. However, I don't know how she swatches her products.

I agree, I have it and there is no pink whatsoever. it is like a gilded dark chocolate bar!

Carbonized looks promising, but I already have too much browns in my eyeshadow palette. I'm not sure if it's worth it.

I might be just getting the Mac 226 brush. I missed out on it the last time it was released. So, hopefully, this time, it doesn't sell out before I get a chance to go to the Mac counter. =/
