Chanel Holiday 2011

I hated it when I just got it. I used it for liquid foundation with long strokes and it was very streaky. Now I know how to use it so I like it more. You have to use quick, short strokes and press the brush on your face so that the foundation gets buffed in. With powder foundation it is less tricky and easier to apply.

well i'm a little sad. i had no clue how expensive the highlighter would be here so i have to skip :( boo!
Debenhams have 10% off with the code BF15 starting today till friday. They haven't got it up yet but I'm sure they will by the end of the week! Alternatively Boots are having a points event this week, spend £50 and get £12 worth of points :)

April, I have the Shiseido brush as well, but also don't use it for foundation - it's a great blush and blending brush!! MissQQ, thanks for the rec about using it with the Dior NudeSkin powder!

Yes, there will always be more highlighters!!

Elegant, I'll definitely give the smoosh technique a try with Famous!

Cheryl - you have the Diorskin Nude powder too! Do you use it over liquid foundation or on it's own? Hope you like Famous with the smoosh method. I passed it because I have Rouge Byzatin. Thanks, I'm going to try the shiseido brush for blush. Alisha - i haven't been using my Terra Inca. Time to pull it out again! I don't like the lid though, it's tricky to open it and put it back in a hurry.

^^ I do have DSN - I use it over my foundation - I probably should use it AS foundation, but haven't tried it that way yet. I'm still learning the ways to use it that work the best for me - haven't quite nailed it yet

^^ Thanks! Let's experiment. It is light enough to use over foundation. And when I used it on its own, I sweated a bit and parts of it was gone, so it isn't good for warm days!

I got my holiday lip bag today!

You ladies weren't kidding -- Spark is the most gorgeous glossimer! A beautiful berry red shade that is also very wearable. I wasn't too excited about the clear glossimer that came with it at first, but it has some pretty pink shimmers in it -- so I think it will look pretty over a lot of different lipsticks. And the Chanel lip liners are the best. Loving everything

MissQQ, I'm finding that I like DSN over my foundation - I don't use a lot of foundation, just enough to even things out. DSN gives a nice finish.

HG, what is your favorite method?

I can't believe I never tried Spark before! Elegant's swatch sealed the deal. When I tried it on today with the lipliner that came with it -- it made my lips look really full (ooh la la). I think the clear one will look so pretty over pink lipsticks

Have you gotten any other fabulous items lately??

Oh, I have been a pretty bad girl, and I shouldn't be. I got the rose Meteorites, 3 YSL Rouge Pur Couture from the new golden luster collection, several Inglot items, a couple of 100% Pure blushes, and a couple of the Lancôme Ombré Absolu eye shadows from Strawberrynet (they're not available from Lancôme in the US). Oh, and Violet Glaze. So I have been a really bad girl, and have to cool it for awhile. A long while. Hopefully I'll be able to thaw my wallet out in time for Chanel's spring collection

Michelle - Yay that you got the lip bag and love all the items! I've never seen Sparks in real, what a shame. The clear glossimer is the one that came out with the Le Blanc Nordstorm collection. It's the only clear gloss from chanel so it's special in a way too.

Cheryl - It's good that you continue to buy makeup and from a wide range of brands.

You always have something special to recommend! I guess most of the items from chanel spring will be perm, except the special items like the blush, so we don't have to worry. Thanks on the tips on DSN, I am going to experiment with it over foundation. The lightest shade is really gorgeous on its own too as a soft highlighter. I put it on my nose to make my flat nose look higher.

Cheryl -- Fun loot! I kept going back and forth about the meteorites -- I wonder if the scent would be too much. What do you think?? I really think I will break down and get Violet Glaze, too

So naughty. I need to cool it, also! We must be good . . . ;)

MissQQ -- I just love those lip bags! I love the lipliner so much, I want to get a pink one. I didn't think I would want to spend that much on a lipliner, but it is so much creamier than the MAC ones I have. You should definitely try Spark. I have to say, it is a glamourous shade

I'm so glad Elegant got that tube so she could share it with us :)

I'm really wondering if I should backup Beige Lame. I'm so surprised at this shadow, I was going to pass it at first but I'm so glad y'all enabled me.

Been wearing it almost daily since I got it, I'm so lazy when it comes to doing my eyes and BL is an easy neutral with a kick. I've yet to fully use up/hit pan on a makeup item aside from foundation and mascara though....have any of you ever hit pan on a Chanel shadow? How long did it take you?

Michelle - Have you seen the Guerlain holiday? What do you think of the meteorites? It's really slow here so it's not launched yet. I have 2 chanel lip liners, Natural and Pink Sugar. Love them both, but I haven't been wearing them for a long while.

QoS - You are making me want BL. I have been thinking about it for the past week, so I may cave. No I haven't hit the pan on a chanel eyeshadow before, or any other brands. I think it will take a long time, especially with the amount of eyeshadows we own.

Ooh!! I have to restrain myself. What do you think of the Golden Lustres? I swatched them on my hand and I really love the purple and the warm red. Definitely on my list of must-haves.

MIssQQ -- I haven't seen the Guerlain meteorites in person (none of the stores by me carry it -- such a bummer). But I have been drooling over the promo pics online -- they look gorgeous. The only thing that is keeping me from getting it is the Violet scent. I am not a fan of perfumey scents in cosmetics. I wish I could test it out in person to see. Let me know if you get your hands on them!
I think I want Pink Sugar l/l. Is Natural a flesh colored liner?
