MAC Daphne Guinness Discussion

I was a little surprised with myself that I walked away from this collection without buying anything because the colour palette is very appealing to me. Of course, I've been collecting makeup for so long that I tend to have the colours that appeal most to me in many variations all ready:)

The pigments seemed like the standouts to me - nicest ones I've seen for a while. I just don't use my pigments very often though and I hate the new jars. I am inspired to pull out my old-style jar of Circa Plum some time soon though.

I was most disappointed with Hyperion polish. MAC polishes have improved lately but this one did not test well at all for me at all. No amount of layering could get the lightest colour in the quad to show up on my hand so that was also a miss for me although I thought the other shades had potential.

I did not leave MAC empty handed though as the Tour de Fabulous glosses were much prettier than I was expecting:)

I'm debating getting a backup of Narcissus and stuff like this isn't helping... I feel like I have too many lip products as it is but I love the formula and colour. I'll sleep on it and if there are any left in the stores around here I may get another one. If not at least I have one and I'll rotate other lippies in.
Just got my Narcissus lg

holy cow is it ever GORGEOUS on! I immediately ordered a BU before its sold out. Just Wonderful lip pencil works beautifully with it. It kind of deepens the color if you use it all over the lip lightly.

For anyone in the Toronto area, the MAC at RBC plaza may have some Azalea Blossom blush ombres left. There were 3 after I bought one and the SAs there told me that they are probably the only store in the city with them left since they were closed on Boxing Day and yesterday. That was at around 9:30 this morning though, not sure if the ombres have been scooped up since then.

I called this morning too -- I placed my order on 12/22. I was expecting it today but doubt it now. Had I know they were closing down for the holiday I would have gone to the counter instead.
Now I want to order Aurora but I'm not sure if I should place another on line order? So frustrating.

I placed my order on 12/23, and UPS says they're delivering it tomorrow!
So the ordering system may be running pretty much like usual.
OR, the Daphne Guiness collection is online at nordstrom.com, and I doubt they're shut down this week.

Oh wow, these went fast then. Do you know how many ombres your counter had. Some stores/counters only receive 3 or 4, so selling out fast doesn't come as a surprise if they have so small quantities. Glad you got your stuff. Enjoy it!
Nah, I didn't ask, our store is usually stocked pretty well though and the MUA made a comment about how they only had 3 ombres left total by the time I got there (right after I left the counter, so it couldn't have been later than 12:30-12:45, but I'd already called and had an Azalea Blossom set aside for me by then), but again I didn't ask, so they certainly could've gotten a smaller shipment this time -- which is too bad, I'm sure they could've sold a lot more ombres if they'd had them, but I'm sure there's a method to MAC's madness.

Do I need Nebula pigment ???
sigh.gif
I'll be able to give a more intelligent opinion on that once I've seen mine!
That said, a MAC artist did tell me the other day that Nebula is "not like any other pigment MAC has put out."
As if I needed encouragement!
When you think about it, though, MAC has come out with quite a few browny-taupe pigments, like Coco (swoon!), Sunnydaze, Suble, and Mauvement, but their only attempt at grey-brown was Sweet Sienna, which was a horrible greenish muddy disaster on me, though many people loved it.
I have high hopes that Nebula will be a hit for me, even if it means that i "have" to back it up!

I keep asking myself that, over and over. Normally, this results in a trip back to the Mac store, but I feel like there are also so many things I want from upcoming collections.

I can't believe that I forgot to swatch it. Probably because the mall was so packed & the mua came up & was talking my ear off. So yeah, I'll go back this weekend to swatch it if I don't order it before. I can't determine if it has the depth & tone of color that I want.

When you you getting yours? It looks very lovely in every picture that I've seen. But yeah, you're right about all of the above. I want just a beautiful rich brown. I've read that it is like Club es without the greenish cast.

I found some swatches of Nebula. It will probably look very different on NW15 me, but I generally do taupe-like colors well, so I'm hopeful.

I saw those pics/swatches but honestly, I didn't care for how it looked on her. Too washed out looking. I want something deeper/darker/richer which it may look that way irl.
Thanks!

Do I need a b/u of Aurora? I looove it.

However, 4.5 grams of product. Am I really ever going to go through all of it?

I BU most of the products I love with the exception of piggies as 4.5 is quite a lot. I would refill a small portion of it into a sample jar, so you don't know over the larger jar (the only reason I see why you would need a BU).

It may have just been her coloring. In those photos, Nebula looked more grey than in any other photos I've seen of it.
A greyish undertone is fine with me, but I am wishing for a good deep crease shade.

I think so. It's a nice neutral brown but with an ooompf. But it depends if you like working with piggies or not.

Sounds great! I'm fairly deft at applying the pigments, though there's no denying that they're more challenging than the pressed powders.
To me, the colors make them worth the effort.

All of my Daphne Guiness stuff (so far, at least!) is supposed to be delivered tomorrow!
However, UPS usually delivers to my house in the evening, long after the sun has gone down, so I don't expect to get a really good look at everything until Friday.

I'm an NC20-NC25. In summer sometimes I can get away with NC30. Nebula looks TOTALLY different on me. It's not quite so gray (maybe a bit, but not as much as on her) on me. It would definitely IMO be that good deep crease shade you're looking for. It works as a smoky dark color on the lid for me, a liner, AND a crease shade.

I was so tempted to go back to the store right after work when I read this but not feeling well and I just wanted to get home and rest. I think I'll stop by tomorrow morning on the way to grab a coffee/breakfast and see if there are any Narcissus left as well as pick up Borealis. Still debating on Red Dwarf and Endless Night as I have to budget for some of the new things from the January collections (not to mention taking advantage of some Boxing Day sales for new winter clothes).

But it is so unique & gorgeous

This is what happens when I have to go to work during a dull week and end up reading Specktra to amuse myself. LOL My wishlists end up super long!
