MAC So Reel / Reel Sexy discussion

WOW, out of curiosity I went on MAC's site to see what sold out online and of course the lipsticks are gone. I'm surprised the two blushes are still available for purchase. I'm still debating on whether I want to purchase Dynamic Duo:2. I have DD 3 and LOVE it. As a PRO member, I always order from MAC PRO Nashville or MAC PRO online because when the non-pro members get to it ...... it's over. There's more non-pro members than PRO members and they go crazy with the collections. Even if you aren't a PRO member call your nearest store or PRO customer service and order what you want. I hate that MAC online pulls inventory from the same location.

I placed my order on Sunday night and had decided not to pick up Reel Sexy based on Temptalia's suggestion that Illamasqua's Brink was a very close dupe. On Monday, I checked out Brink at Sephora and fell in love with the color but the formula (matte, chalky, and accentuating every single crease in my chapped lips) was really terrible! I immediately regretted not picking up RS. So I just placed an order on Nordstrom.com. It looks like all the lipsticks are still available and they have free shipping. So yay for them!

Also, I just tracked my shipment and it looks like a little black box will be waiting for me at home. Loves it.

we need to invent an application that texts as soon as the collection goes up...

This is a good idea. I feel like MAC needs some sort of loyal customer program separate from MAC Pro. Maybe something like Sephora's VIB program. Not all of us are talented or ambitious enough to be makeup artists (...who me?) but still spend an inordinate amount of money and time on MAC. This would be a great loyal customer perk along with bringing back the yearly F&F 20% off sale.

I actually feel bad when I get an email from MAC announcing a collection that officially went live that morning, knowing that all the rabid site stalkers like myself had mostly cleaned out the collection two nights earlier. Lol.

IMO it may be hard for MAC to distinguish between loyal buyers and ebay hounds. Any retailer sells their items (to the point of being sold out or not) regardless of whether the items end up in personal collections or in an ebayer's inventory. It would be kind of nice to get some recognition as loyal buyers though, just not sure how it would all pan out. :-/

Yeah, I totally get what you're saying. I can think of a ton of reasons why there isn't already a loyal customer program and I'm sure eBay sellers marking up LE items is a huge reason why. Maybe this is why F&F sales don't happen anymore either. It would also take money and resources on MAC's part to create a program like this. I'm sure there's a small division at Sephora HQ dedicated solely to VIB affairs. So I bet it will never happen for those of us who aren't makeup artists...but a regular girl can dream.

Thanks for the swatches, Richelle! They do make me think I was right to hope that Heroine looks more purple than Violetta because of the difference in finish!

Great swatches! I too would love a loyalty program, although something like $500 and above would also include Ebay sellers, since I'm sure they buy at least 5 at a time. The only way to prevent the Ebayers would be to carry enough stock.

Totally considering it. Just got my black box and as soon as I swiped on Heroine, I decided I would eventually need to write An Ode to Heroine. It is everything I've ever wanted in a purple lipstick and more! I'm dying over this new matte lipstick formula...it's just gorgeous.

I did... although there was a problem with my giftcard and it didn't process correctly, so I had to call in and sort it out... I hope it went through alright. Borking up online orders makes me so twitchy!
